WASD, controller or mouse-centric control schemes?

Hello Gatewalkers!

We have read tons of feedback from Alpha tests and the recent Beta test. One important suggestion is to make it possible to play Gatewalkers in multiple different control schemes, besides WASD controls. We see that some of you prefer to play with a controller or with a more mouse-centric approach.

As a result, we believe that there should be an option for all of you:
  1. WASD controls - already in the game (default control scheme)
  2. Game controller - finally added to Gatewalkers, ready to be checked in the next round of tests
  3. Mouse-centric controls (similar to other aRPG) but with some changes - this feature is still in an experimental stage because we need to make some adjustments to address skill-based combat and survival elements. The outcome of these adjustments will be evaluated in the future.

To sum up, during the next tests, we will make it possible for you to try out controller support, and we hope you will enjoy it. Moreover, we are investigating a more mouse-centric approach to character control, which we may add to the game later.

Transmutation

While exploring different worlds in Gatewalkers, players gather various resources, such as wood, metal, or fiber. Back at the Guild, these resources can be used to create improved items, which increase the chances of surviving in even more dangerous worlds. As a result, players craft enhanced armors and high-damage dealing weapons like grenade launchers or soaked-in-magic elemental staffs. Regardless of the path the player takes, with time, some resources gathered during previous expeditions will not be needed. To make it possible to still use these unneeded resources, we have created the transmutation mechanism. For example, when all you need to craft your dream sword is one T6 ingot of metal, you can transmute lower-tier metals. To perform transmutation, the player has to use a mysterious device, called the Transmutator, which can be found in the Guild.

The Transmutator is located in Victor’s lab:


After activating the Transmutator, the player can transform crafting materials into other (higher or lower tier) crafting materials as needed.


An additional ingredient is needed for the transmutation to take place, the Transmutation Reagent. Below are example recipes for obtaining resources of higher and lower tiers:
● T4 resource + 30x Transmutation Reagent -> T5 resource
● T5 resource + 4x Transmutation Reagent -> T4 resource

Players can buy the Transmutation Reagent from the Guild’s merchant. The merchant runs a shop with various useful items, but more on that in our next dev-post!

Assassins masks and soldier helmets

Hello Gatewalkers,

Today we would like to show you two new types of helmets that will be available in Gatewalkers.

The first one is a subtype of leather helmets for assassins. A leather hood with a leather mask on the left and a hi-tec ancient metal mask on the right.


The second new line of helmets is soldier helmets. They are a lighter subtype of heavy headgear that ensures a good defense. As you could expect, the main ingredients for soldier helmets are metal ingots.

Beta Patch

Hi Gatewalkers,

we have updated a BETA today. The update contains several changes:
  • The soups are now regain you a small amount of hydration
  • Solo combos have been slightly rebalanced
  • Solo combos now have information about cooldown in tooltip
  • We have resolved an issue with always connecting to the best server (ping)
  • We have added fifth head option to female character in character creation
  • We have fixed “Predecessor Axe” skill damage
  • We have fixed damage modifiers in armors
  • Several minor glitches and fixes…
