Celebrating winter solstice

Please join us in celebrating the winter solstice with a sale on HelixVision, where we have added a winter themed environment. Please enjoy playing your games during the longest nights, freezing outside under the stars. With no more green floor. (You can still disable the entire environment using Hide Floor action.)

We also include an update for Index Controllers, that are now fully supported and will show the hint text for their use.

We've added more supported games (now 85), including gems like Hitman 2, and System Shock 2. System Shock 2 is $2 on Steam during the winter sale, and you really should see this game in perfect stereo.

Changing game resolution and launching should also be much more reliable. As always, please let us know on the forums if something isn't working for you.

Usability, Games, and Quality

Key improvements with this update:
  • Screen can now be offset from your play area, to match computer location.
  • Dramatically improved visual quality. Reduced shimmering effect.
  • Screen location and size now automatically saved, and restored at launch.
  • Support for Epic Game Store versions.
  • Support for Origin and uPlay games.
  • Improved launching experience.
  • Mostly avoid Desktop Game Theater taking over.
  • Another stack of tested and compatible games.

Compatibility update

Includes improvements to launching games, that should be more reliable. Extensive game compatibility testing.

Includes another 15 games that have been tested for compatibility, including a raft of Assassin's Creed games, including Chronicles, Black Flag, and Liberation.

Other notable games added are: Dirt 4, Battlefield Hardline, Far Cry Primal, Crysis 2, Abzu.

Abzu is spectacular in stereoscopic 3D, easily worth taking some time to swim with the fishes.

Please enjoy.

Dramatically improved game compatibility

The latest version is 0.8.12. This is a small update, but with a big result.

The update includes a new approach to hooking DX11 games, that now works for pretty much any DX11 game. This uses a deferred connection, so that it is now possible to connect to games that includes launchers or other software that interferes in the launch.

You can now connect to any Origin or Uplay game, as well as other games that force a launcher for game setup.

At present, these will not show up in the Virtual Reality mode, but are fully unlocked in the super-user 3D Vision mode, found in the Setting tab. An improved game list of tested games will be released soon for Virtual Reality mode.

This update is just letting you know that you can switch to 3D Vision mode, and get access to a lot more games, including some 3D gems like GTA5, Arma3, Prey, DarkSoulsIII, BattleField4.

Any DX11 game is now expected to work, so please don't hesitate to try them out.

Experience and games update

We've been working to improve the user experience and sand off some of the rough edges. This update includes a number of quality of life changes to make things work more smoothly.

The Play in VR experience will now automatically disable 3D, and auto-quit the mirror window after you quit the game. And the games list will show every supported game now, installed or not, so you no longer need to guess.

We've also added another batch of games to the supported list, which will show up in VR mode. Play with killer 3D in games like Metal Gear Solid V, Shadow of Mordor, MIrror's Edge, Resident Evil 7, Mad Max, Tomb Raider (2013), Portal 2.

We've updated the 3D mode (found in Settings tab) for people who want to experiment. This is the super-user mode, it might get confusing.

This mode now allows you to launch any game in your library into VR- but be forewarned, a lot of games won't work. However, you should have good luck with any Unity or UE4 games.
