Two decades later, supremely realistic city builder Industry Giant is back on PC

Some classic PC games, like Deus Ex, Thief, and Command and Conquer may never return. Time rolls on. The future must arrive. Life can be cruel. But occasionally, we get a pleasant surprise - a game that was seemingly dead forever springs suddenly back to life. Before Cities Skylines and Manor Lords, Industry Giant was one of the biggest strategy behemoths. From the same era as Rollercoaster Tycoon, SimCity 3000, and Civilization 2, for 22 years, the series has languished in obscurity. But now it's back - a new Industry Giant game is available to play right now.

Dear Economic Strategists,

The big moment is almost here! On Friday, November 15, 2024, we’re opening the gates for the Early Access launch of Industry Giant 4.0, and you’re invited to celebrate this special day with us.

Join us as we celebrate the launch of Industry Giant 4.0 together with our friend and content creator Raptor – live on his stream! Dive into the game and experience the excitement first-hand, alongside Matthias Lutz – the CEO and creative head of the developer. He will join live or via chat and explore the world of Industry Giant 4.0 with you together.

Here’s what to expect during the stream:

Enjoy exclusive game insights: Starting this Friday at 8 PM CET (7 pm UTC), fascinating insights will be provided into the game’s development and give you an up-close look at what makes Industry Giant 4.0 so special. During the play session, you will have a chance to get your questions answered!

Supply and demand at a glance



Hello, Giants!

In less then a week, Industry Giant 4.0 will be released into Early Access. Finally - yet a little later than originally planned. But in hindsight we are glad that we made the decision to postpone, in order to rework and optimize some elements of the usability, how the player is guided through the important first steps of setting up production chains or transport routes as well as the user experience in general.

Some of the results you can see in the following screenshots, where we show e.g. how the city’s demand overview is structured now. Nonetheless this is not etched in stone. We will continue to optimize, also based on your feedback.





We will continue to implement more improvements to the soon-to-be-released Early Access version and improve usability.

We are also currently finetuning the roadmap and will present the plans for the coming weeks and months together with the release of Industry Giant 4.0.

Yet we won’t focus only on the roadmap. Because equally important for us is the reception and implementation of your feedback. Furthermore we will continually fix possible bugs and further optimize your experience.



We want to use this opportunity to thank you once more! For your comments and pointers as well as your perseverance, with which you addressed your concerns and wishes. You helped us tremendously.

Your passion for Industry Giant spurs us on to give our best and deliver the best possible gaming experience.

Industry Giant 4.0 - The Transport System



Hello Giants,

while we are hard at work to incorporate important changes to the user experience and introduce a better onboarding experience to convey all the complex cross-connected gameplay systems, we continue to read your feedback.

So let’s address the elephant in the room: The transport system.
Even though in comparison to Industry Giant 2 we reduced the amount of micro management needed significantly, some players still had problems setting up routes and getting their goods from A to B.
That is totally on us. We realized that we gave you just superficial explanations and left you basically alone with the trucks (or trains), the loadout and the lines/routes.

We are working on a solution and will try in the remaining time until Early Access to give you better explanations as well as a more intuitive onboarding, so you can setup transport lines in a jiffy. Furthermore it is planned to fundamentally modify and restructure the tutorial in general. We also will give you more advice, when it comes to advanced features like changing or modifying the routes, so you can optimize your transport system and make it more efficient - especially on the bigger maps.

This, however, is based on the design decision, that the depot has a dispatcher controlled by the game, helping you with dispatching trucks or trains when needed, so you can take care of more important things. We think that you already have enough to take care of with the route setting, the efficiency of the production cycles or setting up profitable value chains, so in due time you enjoy looking at your balance sheet.

This is why we opted for what we believe is the best compromise between necessary micro-management and automation. However, we take note of the criticism as well as the wishes that some players voice. We understand that this controlled and detailed planning of supply chains is an essential part of their gaming experience, that they don’t want to miss. We hope that you’ll find the overall game experience engaging and motivating - even after the focus of micro-management has shifted to other areas, some of which are compensating for the transport system.

We are aware that the series left a lasting impression - especially with Industry Giant 2. We want to do the legacy justice with our concept and the introduced changes - and together with your valuable feedback during the Early Access due to start very soon, we will continue to maximize our efforts to achieve this goal together with you. Having said that, we also have to take into consideration that the genre evolved in the last two decades and certain standards are established that we have to acknowledge as well.
