Total War: Warhammer 3 patch adds free DLC and auto mounts

The latest Total War: Warhammer III patch 1.2 notes are here, bringing with it a load of changes - including the strategy game's first Regiments of Renown free DLC pack, a much-requested change to mounts, and the AI shouldn't be so mean to the player anymore.

Last month, Creative Assembly revealed the full Total War: Warhammer III roadmap for 2022, and while most were concerned with the details on the Immortal Empires combined campaign release date, the developer also confirmed that update 1.2 would bring the first Regiments of Renown DLC for free. It's here now, adding new, recruitable elite troops to every faction.

The full patch notes are available here. One much-requested feature is an auto-unlock for mounts, where characters will automatically gain their mounts when they reach the appropriate level rather than the player having to spend a skill point on them. Auto-resolve now functions based on the difficulty of the battle rather than the chosen campaign difficulty setting, and the scaling of auto-resolve has been reduced on Hard.

A REMINDER ABOUT MODS

With an ever-growing number of *AMAZING* mods being created for WARHAMMER III, an important thing to remember with any new game build is that the custom mods you’re running may stop working (at first) if they rely on any of the systems we've changed. If you encounter issues following the update, it is recommended that you verify the integrity of the files and temporarily disable your mods until any compatibility issues can be resolved.

If, after that, your issues continue, then our support team is on call to offer guidance, work with you one-on-one, and get you in and playing!

UP NEXT...

Next up is Update 1.3, which will continue the game's growth with new fixes and features already in the works as well as additional changes based on the feedback we receive following today's release of 1.2. We'll provide more insight into the issues being fixed and updates on the way as we learn more over the next month, and will work to keep you updated as the list grows with new action items pulled from right here on the forum.

And as we work on the next release, development continues on the massive project due later this year: Immortal Empires. We know you want to know more about what's on the way, and we plan to talk about *everything* in the months leading up to its arrival. There's a ton to cover: including what it is, what's different, when you can get your hands on it, and a bunch of other cool details that we can't wait to share...

You'll hear more about Immortal Empires (and other content on the way) soon, but you can also read up on the first details in our recent look at what lies ahead for WARHAMMER III.

HAVE FUN!
We hope you enjoy Update 1.2! Remember to let us know if you encounter any issues, to check out the build overviews provided by some of our amazing streamers and YouTube creators, and to follow our social channels (below) for more information about everything to come.

We’ll see you on the battlefield!

Total War: Warhammer 3's roadmap lays out plans for Immortal Empires and mod tools

Creative Assembly have laid out the 2022 development roadmap for Total War: Warhammer 3. It contains detailed descriptions of the fixes and balance tweaks to come over the next few months, but the exciting stuff will all land this autumn, including the series-spanning Immortal Empires, mod tools and the first of several revamps for the series' older races.

Total Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires release date: not before July

Creative Assembly has published the Total War: Warhammer 3 roadmap for its 2022 DLC releases, which includes two free Regiments of Renown unit packs and a rough window for the Total Warhammer 3 Immortal Empires release date. The RTS game's much-anticipated Immortal Empires DLC is set to release in Q3 2022 (July - September), which is probably later than fans would have hoped given that Warhammer II's Mortal Empires campaign released just a month after the base game's launch. Q3 will also see the arrival of mod tools with the Total War Assembly Kit.

The Total Warhammer III Immortal Empires combined map is scheduled to launch with update 2.0, and will unite all three Total War: Warhammer games into one grand-scale campaign for players that own all three of the titles. The mode will intially be available as an integrated open beta, and Creative Assembly calls it "a monumental undertaking that will continue to grow and evolve" over time.

Update 2.0 will also see overhauls for the remaining races who haven't been brought up to date with Total Warhammer III's newer mechanics. First up will be the Warriors of Chaos, who are likely to see new systems, units, and balance to help bring them up to speed with the current game. Also releasing alongside update 2.0 is the first true DLC pack, currently titled Lord Pack I. This will introduce new legendary lords, heroes, and other units which can be used in both grand campaign and multiplayer modes.
