Total War: WARHAMMER III News

Total Warhammer 3's first performance fix should drop this week

While Total War: Warhammer 3 has enjoyed a successful launch, it has not been without its hiccups. The strategy game saw oodles of negative PC player reviews on release citing stability and performance issues on specific bits of hardware. Now, though, Creative Assembly has outlined what it's doing about that.

The developer shares on Steam's forums that it's working on the first of several hotfixes to address the "critical issues" raised by the community. The plan is to release these as "rapidly" as possible without compromising the current stability or performance of the game. The first hotfix is planned for this week, though the timing could change due to several factors out of Creative Assembly's control. The hotfix's focus is addressing several multiplayer lobby issues, DirectX problems that stem from players running DX12, and framerate improvements for players using modern Intel CPUs. The developer will reveal the entire patch contents closer to the time.

More broadly, Creative Assembly explains that the challenge with fixing Total War: Warhammer 3 is that "there is no single culprit for the variety of issues being reported".

Looks like Total Warhammer 3 is getting Chaos Dwarfs

With Total War: Warhammer 3 now out, all eyes are on what's next for one of the best RTS games on PC - and a new datamine of the game's files strongly suggests that the much-anticipated Chaos Dwarfs faction will be arriving as DLC sooner rather than later.

As developer Creative Assembly only released the latest Total War strategy game last month, little about the Total War: Warhammer 3 DLC packs are known. Top of the list in terms of faction DLC predictions for players, however, is the Chaos Dwarfs, or Dawi Zharr - who are supposed to inhabit the game's volcanic Dark Lands.

It now looks like the Chaos Dwarfs are all but confirmed as coming to Total War: Warhammer 3, thanks to a datamine of several files in the game's code. YouTube user Mamba King posted what seems to be starting dialogue for the Chaos Dwarfs, and the advisor directly mentions their real name of Dawi Zharr. Another advisor specifically warns that "Chaos Dwarfs are nearby", rather unambiguously.

Total War: Warhammer 3 patch fixes Intel Alder Lake CPU issues

Лагодром с миниатюрами: Обзор Total War: WARHAMMER III

Rome: Total War.

Total War: Warhammer 3 patch fixes Intel Alder Lake CPU issues

A new Total War: Warhammer 3 performance patch has arrived, and it should alleviate frame rate issues on Intel Alder Lake CPUs. According to a blog post by Creative Assembly, patch 1.0.1 improves the game's 12th gen CPU compatibility, which should help stabilise and boost fps as a result.

Prior to the update, Creative Assembly advised using a workaround to fix Alder Lake fps issues, involving altering a script file to ensure the game leverages your processor properly. The Warhammer III creators also advised upgrading your gaming PC's operating system to Windows 11, as it could revolve stuttering and erratic performance.

That said, the studio's existing "Issues, Workarounds, and Support" Steam post suggests that the issues are present on machines using Windows 11 paired with one of Intel's best gaming CPUs. As you'd perhaps expect, Creative Assembly advises ensuring your graphics card drivers are up-to-date and that all of the latest Windows updates are installed.

📃 PATCH 1.0.1

  • Fixed an issue where the multiplayer lobby would refresh too quickly, preventing players from being able to select and join a room.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented invites to a multiplayer lobby from working properly.
  • The game now runs in DirectX 11 compatibility mode for all users by default. This is to prevent instances where users inadvertently ran on the legacy implementation of the DirectX 12 beta.
  • Improved how 12th generation Intel CPUs (aka 'Alder Lake' family) interact with the game, providing more consistent framerates when running on these processors.
