Everything shown at the Warhammer Skulls showcase, including three new games

The week-long Warhammer Skulls event has kicked off with an avalanche of announcements. Leading the pack are three new games: CRPG Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader, digital card game Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge, and retro FPS Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. Warhammer 40,000: Shootas, Blood & Teef, the 2D action platformer, also got a release date. It’ll be out on the 20th of October.

Hello everyone! Today's hotfix comes with a small adjustment for an issue that popped up following Update 1.2: a problem where the click-and-drag behavior was disrupting the ability to effectively position troops on the battlefield.

Fixed an issue which caused the unit formation orders (issued by right-clicking and dragging) to feel cumbersome and unresponsive.

Total War dev making a "major new franchise" with Unreal 5

A Creative Assembly Unreal Engine 5 game is in the works, according to a job listing, and it's in "a new franchise". This could be related to the space game the Total War studio has had in production for a while now, the developer's first FPS game since Alien Isolation.

Creative Assembly and SEGA have posted several job listings (thanks, SegmentNext) that confirm the developer is hiring for "a new project, as part of a new franchise". According to the description for a senior gameplay programmer position, the team will be making the new game "on top of Unreal Engine 5". This will be the first Creative Assembly game to use Epic's Unreal engine, in fact.

While this "new franchise" could be the new sci-fi FPS from the Alien Isolation team at Creative Assembly announced in 2018, previous job listings for the game clearly stated that the positions were to work on that title. Unless Creative Assembly is suddenly getting shy, this planned "first title in a major new franchise for the studio" could be something entirely different.

Total War: Warhammer 3 patch adds free DLC and auto mounts

The latest Total War: Warhammer III patch 1.2 notes are here, bringing with it a load of changes - including the strategy game's first Regiments of Renown free DLC pack, a much-requested change to mounts, and the AI shouldn't be so mean to the player anymore.

Last month, Creative Assembly revealed the full Total War: Warhammer III roadmap for 2022, and while most were concerned with the details on the Immortal Empires combined campaign release date, the developer also confirmed that update 1.2 would bring the first Regiments of Renown DLC for free. It's here now, adding new, recruitable elite troops to every faction.

One much-requested feature is an auto-unlock for mounts, where characters will automatically gain their mounts when they reach the appropriate level rather than the player having to spend a skill point on them. Auto-resolve now functions based on the difficulty of the battle rather than the chosen campaign difficulty setting, and the scaling of auto-resolve has been reduced on Hard.
