The in-game Total War: Warhammer 3 campaign map reveal is here

We got our first look at the Total War: Warhammer III campaign map about a month ago courtesy of a printed map included in the game's physical editions, and now the developers have provided a much more extensive look at what to expect in-game. This trailer is still in 'teaser' territory, but it does give us a broad overview of what we can look forward to.

The most obvious bit is that this new map is colourful and gorgeous, particularly in the region of Cathay, the beauty of which contrasts nicely against the Chaos Wastes on the other side of the Great Bastion. The rivers are quite big, too, which might give us a place to get into naval warfare, since it looks like we're getting much less ocean this time around.

But now we're in the realm of speculation, which the office's resident Total War and Warhammer nerds are quite excited about. Most notably, we see what look like normal units wandering around the map, which is a contrast to most modern Total War games, which have generally put lords and heroes front and centre when it comes to overworld movement.

Microsoft says strategy games are key for PC Game Pass, and it wants more

It seems Microsoft loves strategy games. I mean who doesn't, right? But it's not like your average RTS game gets the kind of mainstream attention that Halo or Cyberpunk gets. And yet, I recently sat down with Microsoft's general manager for portfolio planning and analysis, Matt Percy, to talk about how valued these experiences are for Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Now known as PC Game Pass, the 'Netflix for games' service has certainly proven to be a very potent arrow in Microsoft's quiver, and strategy games are reportedly an important component to its success. It's not all about Forza Horizon 5 or Halo Infinite, it's about Total War: Warhammer III and Microsoft's own Age of Empires IV as well.

Some fun facts about PC Game Pass: strategy games made up about 15% of the launch portfolio, with grand strategy game Imperator: Rome one of the genre's leading names on the service. Now, there are over 40 strategy games, and Percy couldn't be happier. "Strategy games have become some of the most popular titles in our portfolio," he tells us. "They're consistently in the top ten games every month and they drive as much as 20% of our monthly engagement on PC."

Total War: Warhammer 3 reveals Slaneesh's horny, hedonistic army

While some Chaos gods have perfectly reasonable cover stories for their interests in pursuits like decay and mutation or murder and mutilation (I mean, one can hardly get skulls for one's skull throne at Ikea), Slaneesh is unashamedly 'horny on main' (as middle-aged people like me believe young people might still say, possibly?).
