Total War: Warhammer 3's next updates will tackle "anti-player bias" and self-destructive AI

Back in Total FebWar, the Total War: Warhammer III team penned a desperate missive in entrail fluids, full of scrawled warnings about the changes coming to the strategy game's AI. With their last ounce of strength, they rolled out a beta test for the planned tweaks. Now, the results are in, circling in the eerily fallow wake of over 50,000 campaigns, like carrion crows with tangible datasets grasped tight in their beaks. Thanks, death crows!

The new query system worked well, with foes no longer cowering from lone enemy agents as if they were doomstacks. The tweaks to faction aggression and potential were shakier, causing some unintended consequence. As such, the upcoming 6.1 patch won't include changes to how fighty or flourishing your foes are. "Faction Potential changes made minor factions significantly easier to defeat for major factions," reads the blog. "This in turn caused Elector factions to perish too early and to be ineffective even when brought back". Makes sense. Can't summon the dead, unless you're one of the several Warhammer factions that can actually do that quite easily.

Update on Patch 6.1 & Campaign AI Beta

Hey folks,

In today's blog I have Rado back with me to catchup with you all on how our recent Campaign AI Beta went, what we’ve learned, and what we’re already working on for the next edition of that Beta.

Before we get to that, a heads up that we’ve moved back our planned release of Patch 6.1 from mid-March to Tuesday, March 25. As always, we want to ensure that our updates are as solid as they can be, and as shared in our recent 6.1 Dev Blog, we’ve got plenty of big updates coming to Kislev and Tzeentch, plus new free units on the way, and want to make sure they get the full love and care they deserve before landing in-game!

On which note, William asked us to pass on his thanks to you all for the love shown to our placeholder art!

As a follow-up to the 6.1 preview blog, we wanted to let you know that we heard your feedback around Mother Ostankya’s campaign starting position. The team have added a new option to her campaigns that allows you to return to Kislev if you wish to do so.

We’ll have more on that in the coming weeks, but for now, head to the full blog to get the latest from Rado on the Campaign AI beta:

Total War Warhammer 3 patch 6.1 will deliver a dramatic Kislev rework

Total War Warhammer 3 developer Creative Assembly is taking a different approach with its upcoming patch 6.1. The studio says it's heard criticism from players that existing content was being neglected in favor of new things, so the next Total War Warhammer 3 update aims to rectify that. CA is returning to its most controversial DLC, Shadows of Change, splitting it out into separate standalone packs to bring it more in line with modern offerings, while also providing dramatic upgrades to two of its related factions.
