Bonuses & Penalties in the Gas Station Universe

While the Gas Station developers are busy fixing things when it comes to the recent release of the Airstrip DLC and the game in general and the Road Diner team is making their game, the designers are right now in the process of finalizing the bonuses that Gas Station Simulator will provide to Road Diner and later Motel Simulator.

There has been quite some interest in those when we first gave you a glimpse into what's coming and now we can finally expand on some of the aspects.

One of the major bonuses will be linked to the level of your gas station. Each level increases the pool and probability of normal customers appearing at the diner and motel. Additionally, every second level of the gas station increases the chance for local and special customers.

Normal customers are just like the customers you know from Gas Station Simulator. Generic folks. Local and special customers are new categories introduced in Road Diner and later Motel Simulator. Local customers are locals with their own backstories who will frequent your establishments a lot more often if you provide the services they are looking for.

Special customers are another new category and this is a big one. These are rare customers with deeply developed backgrounds and dialogs that can leave a lasting impression on you as the player and your establishment by introducing new features and even mechanics.

While local and specials customers will be first introduced in Road Diner, the way this whole "gas station universe" works means they will also find their way to Gas Station Simulator in an update. This way the road diner (and later motel) will also impact your gas station the same way: their levels and expansions will boost the chance for these customers to appear on your gas station.

Another interesting bonus type is being designed for Motel Simulator that will benefit the gas station and the diner as well: local economy. It is a rather complex system, but to greatly simplify it: the expansions and services provided by your motel will encourage spending by customers. So a nicely developed motel will not only boost spending in general, but also increase the tips you receive at your gas station or the diner, too.

It is not all bonuses that we are working on, though. Some penalties will come into play as well. Certain actions may have consequences across all games. To give you an example of a penalty: stealing a lot of stuff from customer trunks on the gas station will influence a variable aptly called LocalSafety that can reduce customer flow at the diner and motel by up to 8% and 15% respectively. When people don't feel safe, some will just choose to drive through rather than stop at your business.
