Update and Dev Diaries đź’ˇ

Hi everyone,

While we are still working on Update 1.5.1, here is a preview of what is coming very soon to CK3.

As most of you are aware, we have two different teams working on Crusader Kings right now!
â–˛ One is hard at work at Lab42 to bring you the Console edition of the game!
â–˛ The other team is our very own Stockholm crew who are making sure everything looks right and is working properly for the 1.5.1 Update after Royal Court.

While the Update is not quite ready yet, we are working hard to make sure that we include as much of your feedback, technical issues, and quality of life as possible into the next version of the game as humanly possible. But, we promised you that we would keep you in the loop, so here we are!

With that in mind, we are here to let you know what is going on and how things look. Without further ado, here is a little list of sneak peeks coming up:
  • Improved AI - including Warfare and Crusades - Lots of work has gone into this one and we are excited to see and hear what you think
  • Fixed the Council Task events not triggering properly or at all (including "Train Commander" as reported by Community)
  • Balance to the War for England
  • Fixes to Demand Artifact for the AI
  • Fixes to disbanding/reforming Factions
  • Improved Shadows and Lighting for the Throne Rooms
  • William the Conqueror never seeming to win
  • And of course, there will be a WHOLE lot more

Still a bit of work to be done, but still should hear back before March is over on this end of things, so keep an eye out for news. We will always keep you as up to date as possible on all things News and Update related as soon as we are able!

Thank you all again for your understanding and dedication to the game.
Without you, this game and Community would not be the warm and welcoming environment it is today.

Crusader Kings 3 gets a patch for weird-looking eyes

There's a hotfix available now for Crusader Kings III that addresses an important issue with the medieval grand strategy game: eyeballs. More specifically, the patch makes the areas around characters' eyes look more natural and human, but there's more going on under the hood than meets, well, the eye.

Paradox says that in addition to improving the cosmetic appearance of characters' eyes, it's also reworked the DNA of various historical characters in order to address some problems the game had rendering their eyes, as well as those of their children. The result is subtle, but quite nice: characters' eyes appear much warmer now - more at home in their faces, if you will. You can see the new look on King Rurik 'Troublemaker' of Garðaríki in the image above.

Improved eyeballs and eyeball DNA aren't the only improvements in the latest Crusader Kings hotfix, however. Version 1.5.0.2 also adds some missing localisation for Spanish, Korean, and Russian languages, and removes some debug text that had been appearing in the game.

This Crusader Kings 3 mod shifts the action to feudal Japan

While Crusader Kings III's world map doesn't (yet) include East Asia, you can still go visit for a few hundred years. The Shogunate is a total conversion mod for the medieval grand strategy game that focuses on Japan's Sengokou period, the feudal era that lasted from 1467-1615.

Based on the Nova Monumenta Iaponiae Historica mod for Crusader Kings II, Shogunate operates according to many different rules from the feudal period of the base game. It's based on historical records and includes many of the Sengoku-era daimyo, as well as their families, and you can play as any landed character in the game. There are a dizzying number of potential starts, but if none of them appeal to you, you can create your own Sengoku-era daimyo and set out on your own path toward claiming the shogunate.

Once you make the decision to found a new shogunate, all of Japan becomes your de jure territory, giving you a casus belli against anyone. However, other characters are going to be less likely to heed your call to war - they'll need at least 50 positive opinion of you to join in a defensive war, and a +75 opinion of you if you want them to join you in any offensive action.
