Crusader Kings 3 is getting a full fantasy-themed conversion mod

Players have been speculating about an updated version of Crusader Kings 2's classic Game of Thrones mod since Crusader Kings 3 was announced. But, how about an entire rework set in an original fantasy universe with six years' worth of lore, a TTRPG setting, and a Europa Universalis IV mod already under its potion belt?

That's what modder and writer Jay10101 is planning to bring to the banquet table with Anbennar, a full CK3 conversion mod that adds elves, dwarves, and entire schools of magic to what we already have to refer to as 'vanilla' Crusader Kings 3. We'd ask them to slow down, but with mods that look as cool as Anbennar in the works, it's hard to mind all that much.

Jay10101 describes Anbennar as a "collaborative world-building project". It was originally a total conversion mod for EU4, but here it follows the same historical period as vanilla CK3. "In EU4 we explored what happens to a fantasy world in an age of gunpowder and reformation," the modder says."In CK3 we'll deal with fantasy at its peak. Knights and magic, with all the undertones of political and dynastic intrigue."

Greetings Crusaders!

🛠️ Reports of Multiplayer issues have been received and heard.
As such, there will be a Server update for the Multiplayer Servers at 10:00AM CEST on September 22 and should take less than five minutes.

However, this will affect ongoing Multiplayer games, so please make sure your game is saved and not active during this time period so you do not face issues. Players will be forced to log out of the game and log back in after the restart, so please take this into consideration.

While this should fix most of the issues encountered with Multiplayer issues, it may not solve all issues. If you continue to see issues after this update, please contact us.

Crusader Kings 3 is now anime - thanks to this mod

Despite barely having been crowned a fortnight ago, Paradox's Lannister simulator Crusader Kings 3 already has a king's ransom of workshop content. We've already seen a full Bronze Age conversion, as well as a World of Darkness-inspired vampire overhaul. Capes, sharp teeth, and Sumerian mythology are cool, I hear you shout, but where's all the anime? Never you fret, because modder Eastern Sky has you covered.

Creator Eastern Sky describes the mod as "an anime styled mod that allows you to recruit characters from 'Arknights' to serve you as your courtiers." Each of the 23 operators has their own portrait, stats, and traits. Oh, and they're also immortal, which is undoubtedly a nice trait to have when your uncle is trying to bribe your cousin's best friend's nan to murder you with a poison spider, as is often the case in Crusader Kings 3.

The mod, simply titled 'Arknights', is based on the Chinese mobile title of the same name. The tower defence game is extremely popular in China, and has a healthy fanbase elsewhere after releasing this past January to the rest of the world. If the trailer below is any indication, it looks to have some seriously expansive lore.

Crusader Kings III is a strategy game about complex systems of overlapping rules in the middle ages, which can make it a pretty daunting experience at first. It turns out, though, that you can completely ignore all the feudal customs of the age and dominate every campaign. The so-called 'North Korea Strategy' from Crusader Kings II is back, and in Crusader Kings III, it's stronger than ever.

YouTuber Reman, who covers Paradox games extensively on his channel, has made a video detailing the use of the strategy in Crusader Kings III. When you're playing normally, you're constantly trying to right-size your domain in order to avoid penalties of up to 90% to taxes and levies for having too many personal holdings. The 'North Korea strategy' rejects this idea, based on the fact that by the time you're an emperor, you're getting even less gold and fewer levies from individual counties as each ruler in the feudal chain takes their cut.

So rather than parceling out your realm to vassals, this strategy dictates personally controlling every holding once you become an emperor. Naturally, getting to this point involves divesting quite a few vassals of their holdings, and Reman explains the easiest way to do that in his video.
