Avast ye free weekend landlubbers, welcome to Blazing Sails! Of course, any pirate worth their salt loves free stuff, so we’re happy to announce a grand contest that lets you compete for Blazing Sails keys for you and yer crew!



The contest is simple -- we want to see your Blazing Sails experience in a short video. Whether it’s incredible fish launcher frags, super long range cannon hits, bottle triple kills, or funny lobby shenanigans, IT’S ALL WELCOME!

[h2]The rules[/h2]

• The video can be 2 minutes long MAX. There is no set minimum, but we’d recommend it to be at least 30 seconds long.
  
• The video must be uploaded to YouTube, with either public or unlisted access.
  
• The youtube link must be shared in the #montage-competition channel on our Discord (links only in that channel, please!).
  
• The video must be about Blazing Sails.
  
• The concept is entirely up to you: funny, cool, impressive, depressing - let yer creative juices flow.
  
• MAX 1 video per user.

The creators of our favorite 5 videos will receive 4 Blazing Sails keys so their crew can keep sailing the high seas free of charge! If we ever make a cringy montage with Linkin Parrrrk in the background, we might also feature your crazy plays (with credit, of course).

Hello there ye' scallywags! We're getting everything ready for our upcoming new DLCs and awesome event that will commence shortly! In the meantime we've got this update for you including even more server browser filtering options, a hull wear & tear slider and more!

We've also decided to keep the Halloween event running for a few more days so you pirates can unlock all those spooky cosmetics!

[h3]Visual improvements:[/h3]

• Ship frontal water wakes now move with the wave height for a cleaner visual result
  
• Fixed some visual artifacting on the shoreline waves
  
• Shoreline waves are now less visible through high waves
  
• The deadzone is now less visible in the night fog setting (now same visibility as in the noon fog setting)
  

[h3]Ship customisation:[/h3]

• Added a slider for ship hull paint wear to ship settings menu (from factory new all the way to very battered! Slider can be found via the cog wheel in the ship customisation menu)
  

[h3]Server browser:[/h3]

• Setting filters added
  
• Sorting tabs added for all server properties (ping, password, name, player amount, setting, ...)
  
• Added icons to all region tabs
  

[h3]Main menu:[/h3]

• Added a "Streamer mode" that replaces friend names and server names with random ones, this feature will be added in-match as well in a later update
  

[h3]Bug fixes:[/h3]

• Melee blocking cooldown progress bar no longer interferes with reload bar of other weapons
  
• Fixed a bug that caused the character model to float in front of the camera when switching between weapons fast on medium ping servers
  
• Voice chat icon now visible again above player usernames
  
• Fixed the height of the wood barrel and battle drink rack interaction indicators
  
• Fixed a bug that caused the steering wheel to snap to a certain frame when using it
  
• Fixed a bug that allowed players to sometimes join a team as a fifth member

This Early Access period is all about experimentation and growth for us. Not just for the actual game, but things like pricing and community, too. We’ve heard your feedback, and are happy to announce that we’ll be dropping the price for Blazing Sails during its Early Access period. This’ll be happening later this week, alongside some other very exciting happenings. If you’ve been trying to get yer mateys aboard Blazing Sails, make sure they stay tuned!

[h3]Price drop[/h3]

Blazing Sails’ price will be dropping from $24.99 to $14.99 (or your regional equivalent). That might change after we leave Early Access, but for now, $14.99 is the new base game price!

[h3]I bought the game at $24.99, what now?[/h3]

First off, thank you very much! You’re a pirate with great taste. Amazing taste, even. And soon, you’ll be able to show that off. Everyone who bought Blazing Sails before the price drop will receive:

The time is finally here! Our first major update since our Early Access release includes a spooky new "Kraken Keep" island, foggy night-and-day settings, as well as creepy exclusive unlockables and more! The Kraken Keep Halloween Update is available now! (Patch notes can be found below)

Map:

• The Kraken Keep island has been added
  
• Foggy day setting added
  
• Foggy night setting added
  

Main menu:

• The main menu has been temporarily overhauled with a spooky night theme (Will be reverted back to the old main menu after Halloween event ends)
  
• New Halloween themed music added to the main menu
  
• The new items popup now reveals your newly unlocked items in succession with a small delay between each reveal
  
• Cosmetic items now include a new icon that indicates from which event the item is
  

Server browser:

• The server browser has been completely overhauled visually
  
• Server browser now allows filtering per continent
  
• Added an option to hide or show password protected servers
  
• Added an option to hide or show in progress servers
  
• Added an option to hide or show client hosted servers
  

Gameplay:

• You can now see how long it takes before a dead crewmember respawns
  
• Elevators have been added (When used, they carry you up, remain stationary for 10 seconds and then go down again)
  
• Bow mounted explosive barrel ship detection radius has been increased making them explode a bit easier when colliding with another ship
  

Player kill cards:

• Player kill cards have been added (They show the killer’s Steam avatar and the weapon you were killed with)
  
• We will expand upon this in the future with custom kill card unlockables like glow color, border style, additional killer information and more!
  

UI tweaks:

• Crewmembers UI tweaked a bit
  
• Player and ship amount UI tweaked
  

New cosmetics:

• 4 new spooky hull colors
  
• 6 new spooky flag emblems
  
• 4 new spooky flag colors
  
• 9 new spooky sail emblems
  
• 4 new spooky sail colors
  
• 6 new spooky colored hats
  
• 2 pumpkin hat styles
  
• 6 new spooky colored torso items
  
• 2 new spooky colored pants
  
• 2 new spooky colored boots
  

(only the purple clothing sets are not exclusive)




Animation improvements:

• Character heads are now always straight and no longer strangely rotated with some animations
  
• Rifle animations tweaked so character holds them cleaner
  
• New crossbow idle and fire animations
  
• Character necks no longer get stretched when using cannons
  
• Character cannon fire animation tweaked a bit
  
• Beards are no longer poking through some hats
  

Collisions improvements:

• Steep slopes should no longer be as easy to walk on and very steep slopes should no longer be walkable
  

Bug fixes:

• Crashes caused by voice chat should be fixed (If not, please post your crash logs in our discord so we can further investigate the issue) Reset your keybinds if VOIP doesn't seem to work
• Fixed a bug that made it so death chest disappeared after a few meters, they are now visible from afar
  
• Fixed a bug that sometimes caused trap shot cannonballs not to drop a ship’s anchor
  
• Fixed a bug that sometimes caused anti-cannon shots to sometimes not block a ship’s cannons
  
• Fixed a bug that sometimes caused battle drink bottles not to appear in the Bottle rack
  
• Fixed a bug that sometimes caused wood planks not to appear in the wood barrel
  
• Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause the VOIP icon (parrot) to stick after using VOIP
