Development Blog #1: The Void Creatures.

Hello everyone! We are very excited to share our first Developer Blog with you!

In this blog entry, we want to talk in-depth about the Void Creatures.
Make no mistake though, Void Creatures are only a fraction of the dangers you will encounter on your journey. In the future, we will talk more about the island dwellers, as well as human enemies who have captured the train stations and depots. For those of you, who are reading about Voidtrain for the first time, here is a quick intro into what this game is all about.

Voidtrain is an FPS action-adventure game with survival and simulator elements. You take the role of an interdimensional train machinist. During your journey, you upgrade and build your train from a simple trolley into steam, diesel, or even Tesla engine locomotive. Fight the Void creatures that attack you during your travels, while evil nazi soldiers ambush you at train depots. Raid flying islands and try to steal loot chests from its protectors. Get away from nazi trains or fight them head-on. Build and modify different ranged weapons. Travel from portal to portal through different worlds with unique biomes and uncover the secrets of the Void.

Why’d the players need to leave their train during travels? First of all, you want to gather as much debris (materials) flying around as possible. These materials include iron, organic matter, wood, crystallized water, and more. Sometimes you will leave your trolley to safely disarm void mines before it reaches your ride, or to get your own loot after you got killed by a Void Shark.

Void Sharks
A Void shark is one of the biggest predators you'll meet during your travels. It is also one of the most aggressive creatures always trying to either sneak up on you or damage your train. By using prophecies, you can meet up to 4 sharks per World but we'll talk more about that later.

You can scare off the shark by shooting at it, urging it to hide behind debris or swimming deep into the Void out of your weapon's reach. While hiding, a shark can heal itself by either devouring a body of another player who recently died during your game session or by feeding on a fish shoal. So be careful, when a shark returns. It might be on full health once again!

Electric Leech
Harmless at first glance these creatures can really ruin your day if left unchecked. By the moment you notice them it might already be too late and a bunch of them have already settled on your train.

The leeches are attracted to power sources, including the Artefact you possess that lets you travel through the worlds, your train's engine and others. Here are some concept iterations we made while coming up with the Electric Leech design.

By clinging to one of your carts or your locomotive, leeches start feeding on the energy source they've found, creating energy-pockets and currents that slow down your transport. Their cement-like saliva does the same. Weird, right?

Fish Shoals
These are the smallest void inhabitants and are called 'fish' just to have something to associate them to. They have eloquent eyes and are very intelligent.

They usually gather in groups and travel though void that way. Sometimes they get too close to the train, interested in the alien beings that visit their world. They are easily scared. Genetics did the trick: when everything in the world around you wants to eat you, be cautious and fast.

Void Whales
Void Whales might be the largest creatures in the Void. They are very rare and meeting one is a stroke of great luck, but if you do meet the one you'll be able to enjoy their singing. Their song is often in tune with the wobbling sound of your train. The peaceful melody can easily put you to sleep.

As a general rule those giants travel alone, but you can sometimes see a female whale travelling with her offspring. Every creature we've talked about so far can only survive in the Void, as it's impossible for them to move in normal gravity. Their structure doesn't allow them to.
Another interesting fact about the Void creatures is that they can't hear. They have enhanced eyesight though.

There are also Roflimo and medusas, but we'll leave those for a different Dev blog as they are a part of some very unique mechanics.

See you next time!

And there’s a chillingly cool soundtrack that will make your head bop as you traverse the deadly Towers!

Black Book

Black Book is a dark RPG Adventure based on Slavic mythology and featuring card-based combat. You will take on the role of Vasilisa, a young sorceress on a quest to revive her beloved one. In order to do so, she has to uncover all the 7 seals of Black Book — a demonic artefact, said to be powerful enough to grant any wish.

There Is No Light

There Is No Light is a pixel-art action adventure in a dark post-apocalyptic setting, which tells a story of a protagonist fighting against a fallen underground civilization and its appalling religious rituals.

Find out how people live in the underground world ruled by the Church of the Great Hand. Find your own playstyle by combining 3 available weapon types, so that eventually you can fight a giant boss Behemoth that gets in your way to freedom.

Tower Princess

Tower Princess is a 3D roguelike action platformer where you'll have to beat a dungeon, defeat a dragon, rescue a princess/prince and manage a perfect date with them! There’s a wide variety of royalty members you can hit on — you’ll be able to find someone you like even if you’re not into humans.

The demo is a linear and brief sample of a run in one of the Castle's areas. It shows the visuals and the core gameplay of Tower Princess, but it's focused on the princess aid in combat, as without her help, you wouldn't stand a chance against the Evil Dragon. Are you ready to test yourself as a knight in shining armour?

SuchArt!

SuchArt is a painting sim game featuring you being such an amazing artist. Really you rock, your latest DNA test is very positive about it. Now please paint, sell and expose your art from your new studio aboard the Space City. And don’t forget — the only limit is the size of your brush (or a flamethrower).

SuchArt demo features a separate room (a virtual studio instead of a real one you’ll get in the full game) with a limited amount of tools and an introductory part of the story. However, you’ll be able to test the core game mechanics and take a couple of commissions from virtual clients, which is already fun!
