Hardspace: Shipbreaker's new update revamps its story and tutorial

Hardspace: Shipbreaker sits you in front of a moist gateau and hands you a cake slice, only the gateau is a stylish spaceship and the cake slice is a metal-severing laser. It's immediately compelling, as you cut into your rich dessert to extract its delicious insides without accidentally slicing a cherry. In this metaphor, the cherries are explosives.

After a while, I found its early access release got a little lonely and a little samey, but that might have changed with today's "Salvage Your Future" update. It revamps Shipbreaker's campaign and introduces four new voiced characters.

We are looking into correcting this issue soon, but the problem is too complex and foundational for us to fix for this release. As such, we will likely revisit the early-game progression tunings in one of the next updates.

To make matters both better and worse, you’ve got the new demotion charge tool to do it with. They’re nifty remote precision charges but apparently disarming them if you change your mind can be a trick. The new Business Is Booming update is out now for all you pro shipbreakers.

Get ready for the Javelin-Class and Demo Charge!

To all employees,

We are back with a new update spicing up your daily life at LYNX Corp! On top of our brand new Javelin-Class, cutters can now use a new tool: the Demo Charge! To celebrate with every employee out there, new stickers have been added and our Tool Durability system and selection has been updated and revamped!

LYNX Corp. has acquired the salvage rights to a new line of decommissioned ships! Say hello to the Helix Industries Javelin-Class starship. These vessels leverage a system of highly-modular radial segments in their construction, providing for a large variety of sizes and functions. Unlike other ship designs, the Javelin has many externally exposed components and subsystems, the extraction of which will require becoming familiar with the Javelin’s network of external support structures.

Interior space on Javelin-Class ships is limited, and maneuverability can be challenging. Cutters are encouraged to read up on the effects of extreme claustrophobia and the recommended breathing exercises. Always be sure to have an escape route planned while working inside these confined spaces; you may need to get out in a hurry.
