Weekly Rotating Gamemodes

To keep things fresh while we develop more spell books and other content, we'll be rotating in and out different gamemodes for you all to try out.

This weeks gamemode is Boss Battle. One player will selected to be the boss. They'll get increased HP for each other player in the game. The boss player also gets to cast 3 spells per turn.

On the other hand, all the other players will get some bonuses too. The biggest one being they get to all take their turn at the same time.

Storm Graphical Update and More

This is a small patch to update storm graphics and fix some bugs in the game. This patch also has a few minor balance changes which should improve some degenerative gameplay. Regarding nature, we are still unhappy with how it turned out and will be releasing a rework for the book next. The rework will change a bunch of the spells as well as add minions into the book.

We know content has been a little slow. To help this we'll be releasing some fun temporary gamemodes in the next few days. We plan to rotate them in and out to see what players enjoy and to keep them fresh. Stay tuned for more news on the rotating gamemodes. If you have any ideas for a rotating gamemode let us know!

This patch will be dropping at 1PM PST (about 30 minutes after this announcement goes live).

  • Most visual assets have been finished. We still would like to add some custom explosion animations but we are happy with what we have for now.


[h3]Balance Changes[/h3]
  • Blink can no longer be used while in a tower
  • Blink now has a 2-turn cooldown
  • Chain Lightning now bounces 14 times


[h3]Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed napalm not triggering acorns
  • The water lord's version of Waterball now has the right description
  • Bombs now have the same weight as normal projectiles
  • Fixed substitute triggering during your turn

  • Added keybind setting for switching minions

Storm Spellbook + Patch Notes


Thank you to @everyone for your patience. Today's patch will drop at 8:00 PM PST (about 3 hours from time of posting).

Login Servers will go down at 8:00 PM PST for about 30 minutes in preparation for the patch.

This patch will mark a small break in-between new spell books. We will be using the next update(s) to begin removing any rough edges currently in the game. We will continue to incorporate feedback into our development! Keep posting your thoughts, comments and ideas in the appropriate channels!
Storm

The storm spellbook will be making its debut. Storm spell art assets are currently work-in-progress.

Nature

Nature fell flat a little on release. We've adjusted many of its cooldowns to better match the power level of the spells. Damage has been added to a few of its spells and increased on ones that already dealt damage. Nature's gameplay will continue to be a work-in-progress, stay tuned for more info regarding changes to the nature spells.

  • Natures Touch and Enchanted Sapling have swapped places in the spellbook.
  • Empowered Acorn Bomb now creates a ring of terrain when it explodes
  • Empowered Mega Acorn Bomb creates a large amount of terrain when it explodes.
  • Acorns deal 10 damage up from 5.
  • Acorn Bomb deals 10 damage upon explosion.
  • Vine Whip deals 50 damage up from 25.
  • Leaf Shoot is now a quick cast with 5 max casts.
  • Empowered Overgrowth now greatly increases the size of things hit.
  • Leaf Storm has been completely reworked. It now causes bombs and missiles inside it to explode early.
  • Tree of Life now has a nearby aura that reduces the size of nearby projectiles significantly. Damage dealt within this aura is halved. Tree of Life HP has been upped to 50.
  • Branch of Yggdrasil now has a starting cooldown of 5 turns.


Balance
  • Arcane Vortex now has Arcane Gate.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed ice minions duplicating
  • Fixed ice ring missing the bottom iceball
  • Weather objects can no longer be moved around with Arcane Portal (you wish!)
  • Fixed players looking off-center in some towers
  • Substitute can no longer be cast in terrain


Visual Changes
  • Napalm ripple effect has been made more apparent

Nature Book Release + Patch Notes

! Nature !
The nature spellbook will be making its debut. It contains 12 new spells, each very different from anything currently in the game.
Nature spell icons and object assets are work-in-progress. We plan to update them next week.

Balance

  • Buffed fissure to reach higher and shoot more scatter rocks.
  • Whirlpool starting cooldown changed to 3 from 4.
  • Fissure starting cooldown changed from 3 to 5.
  • Firework now shoots out 2 napalm if it hits ground early.
  • Phoenix now revives with 30 hp up from 15.
  • Ice arrow now has a cooldown of 2 turns and no limit to how many times it can be cast.
  • Increased water jet knockback.
  • Added a speed limit to how fast flying minions can move.
  • Rock Golem now rolls slower when frozen.
  • Ice shards now scatter a little less.


Bug Fixes

  • Napalm that is on the ground is no longer affected by ice castle.
  • Fixed aerial aiming being incorrect sometimes.
  • Fixed deluge description being incorrect.
  • Rolling snowball now properly sinks flying minions.
  • Napalm bomb now correctly spawns 20 napalm as the tooltip suggested.
  • Fixed spell book menu sometimes having duplicate books.

Patch Notes + Downtime

This is a small patch to improve the game. We understand players are patiently waiting for some more content.

New Features

  • Added profanity filter. You can disable it in the options at your own risk


Balance
  • Buffed Arcane Bomb's explosion damage to 20
  • Changed Water Skin to the following: lets you walk on water for the next 5 turns
  • Ice Tower's freezing ability is now aura-based: Projectiles that get close enough to an ice tower gain the freezing ability


Bug Fixes

  • Fixed first player's cooldowns being 1 less than everyone else
  • Fixed aerial spells shooting towards the wrong direction sometimes
  • Various crashes have been fixed
  • Fixed some hats rendering incorrectly
  • Fixed bug where you could summon minions partially outside of the map bounds (also caused flying minions to get stuck)
  • Fixed Glyph Ball sometimes spawning glyphs twice
  • Fixed minion arcane damage (e.g. from Arcane Vortex) dealing no damage to enemy arcane towers
  • Fixed glyphs not absorbing waterballs
  • Fixed description of Fissure being inaccurate
  • Fixed keybindings not working or not saving


Improvements

  • Arrow spells are now much much much more intuitive to use.
  • Tutorial has been redone
  • Added explosion visual indicator for Imp Explosion
  • Added direction indicator for aerial spells (Meteor, Comet, Rain of Fire)


Additional

  • Time Attack has been temporarily disabled.
