Hey there! This is Kylan, the creative director at Crispy Creative. We’ve been very busy working on the game and can’t wait to share more progress with you. To start our very first Steam update, we wanted to go through some of the core system designs for Long Journey.
Know Your Strengths
Everyone is good at something, and your crew is no different. Each crew member has a skill they excel at. Currently, there are five main skills:
Deception, Seduction, Muscle, Business, and Tech.
Each skill is related to the other. So, someone who is great at Seduction is OK at Deception and Muscle, but terrible at Business and Tech.
Jobs
Most jobs you encounter will have a recommended skill. Gravotrometer needs repairing? Someone with the Tech skill would be best. Bodyguard needed? Some Muscle would probably be best.

Aligning your crew’s skills with the job at hand is only the first step though. Successfully completing jobs may not be so obvious. Some job choices may require skills different than the obvious ones.
Aligning your crew’s skills with the job at hand is only the first step, though. Successfully completing jobs may not be so obvious. Some job choices may require skills different than the obvious ones. That bodyguard job needing Muscle before? When the client asks your crew to pose as their date, some Seduction or Deception skill would undoubtedly help. Get to know your crew, and they might surprise you. Hidden choices will be more obvious, the more your crew reveal themselves. Who knew Truly had a secret fascination with digital pets? Or that Zeke is also into holistic medicine? Or that Aylah is a closet fan of…wait, what? Oh she’d rather I not…ah, fine. You’ll have to ask her yourself! 😉
