Rack your shotguns and wipe down your scopes because Armed and Dangerous is back, where weapons are limited to snipers and shotguns, and loot overall is much harder to come by. Armed and Dangerous will be available from July 19th to August 2nd with World’s Edge, Olympus, and Storm Point as the map rotation.

Summon your inner hero with 40 adventurous event-limited cosmetics, including new Legendary skins for Revenant, Mirage, Octane and Wattson with complementary skins for the Flatline, Wingman, EVA-8 and Charge Rifle.

If you collect all 40 event items, you’ll unlock the newest Prestige skin, Bangalore’s “Apex Commander”! Prestige Skins are Mythic cosmetic Legend skins that each have 3 tiers (3 versions total of the Prestige Skin). Upon unlocking tier 1 of a Prestige Skin, a player will be able to complete challenges to unlock Tier 2 and Tier 3 at no additional cost. Players can continue to complete these challenges, once available, even after the end of the event. Once a Prestige Skin Tier’s challenge is completed a player will unlock that respective tier’s version of the Legend skin which can then be equipped. Players have the ability to equip any unlocked tier of a Prestige Skin once owned.

Gaiden Event Packs are available for a limited time during the Gaiden Event, but the items will be available in the standard Apex Pack pool of items after the event ends.
Gaiden Event Packs guarantee you one non-duplicate Gaiden Event item.
The new event will introduce 40 new cosmetic items around the Gaiden theme.
Gaiden items can be crafted with crafting metals. After two seasons, crafting metal costs of Gaiden Items may be reduced.

Fnatic's ALGS comms reveal hilarious Apex Legends Lifeline roasts

It's been well over a week now since Year 2 of the Apex Legends Global Series concluded with the ALGS Championships in Raleigh. While the likes of Valk, Seer, and Gibraltar dominated the meta, we did see a wide range of legends played throughout the entire event.

One surprise was Fnatic's Japanese roster seemingly picking Lifeline in a Grand Finals match, which was the only time in the entire tournament when the healer was picked. This soon transpired to be a misclick from Fnatic's Takamasa 'Meltstera' Kawai. That infamous Lifeline match (in which Fnatic actually placed well and scored points) has been lapped up by the Japanese Apex community, and now us English speakers can enjoy it too, thanks to one ALGS fan who has translated Fnatic's comms, revealing some hilarious moments from the team.

Early on in the translated video by 'k00k' on YouTube, Fnatic's Yuga 'YukaF' Horie can be seen bursting into laughter and leaning back in his chair in disbelief as the team talks about rotations. "Like... we have a Lifeline on our team," he says, to which teammate Keita 'MatsuTasu' Matsura replies with: "The absolute worst character in the game."

Apex Legends esports must learn from its ALGS Championships mistakes

Year 2 of the Apex Legends Global Series has now wrapped up. Culminating in the ALGS Championships Finals, we finally got to see Apex esports completely unshackled, with a big-money, high-stakes LAN event played in front of a live audience to crown the first ALGS world champion.

Apex Legends esports has quickly become a personal favourite of mine to watch, especially at a time where my interest in a few other FPS esports has faded. EA has built the ALGS up gradually throughout the COVID era, and has a genuinely amazing product on its hands that really shone on that final day of the Championships. However, there was one major blip that cannot be ignored, and that's the unacceptable amount of qualified players and coaches that missed some or all of the tournament due to positive COVID tests or visa issues.

According to Liquipedia, 15 qualified players or coaches were unable to attend the Championships in Raleigh, North Carolina this year due to visa issues. This includes the entirety of Team Empire's Russian roster, which was eventually replaced by AYM Esports, and two players from a further three teams.

Hundreds of high ranked Apex Legends players have been banned for 6-manning exploit

Apex Legends players who have recently been making use of ranked arena exploits and “6-manning” may log into the free-to-play battle royale and find themselves suspended or permanently banned from the game.

This comes following a ban wave from the Respawn Entertainment specifically targeting users of these exploits, rather than general hackers or cheaters. According to Conor Ford of the Security team, 1307 users in total have been banned, including almost 1,000 ranked Apex Predators.

A fun fact with this is the split between users banned on particular platforms. The platform with the most exploiters by over 100 bans is PlayStation, followed by PC, Xbox, then the Nintendo Switch with only 20 bans. This could be an indicator of how wonderful the Switch playerbase is, or more likely it's a consequence of the far lower player count on that platform - with that version of the game suffering from serious technical flaws.

It's time to lock and load, legends - there's fighting to be done. Respawn Entertainment has finally announced the Gaiden event for Apex Legends - something that leakers have known about for some time - and along with it comes confirmation that the Armed and Dangerous LTM is making a return. Sure, it might not be Apex Legends' Control mode, but it's a fun spin on Apex Legends' traditional battle royale gameplay.

In the Armed and Dangerous LTM, players are thrown into an otherwise standard battle royale match with one key difference: the only weapons in the loot pool are shotguns and snipers. Oh, and loot in general is going to be a lot harder to come by than usual.

Armed and Dangerous is an LTM where a Legend Abilities matter a lot more than usual and players are going to have to think much more strategically about pushing enemy squads if they want to win. Sometimes, you're just not going to have the weapons to deal with your opponents.
