Twitter shares the most tweeted about games during 2022 so far

While the latter half of 2022 may seem a little barren, the first half of the year was pretty good for games. We saw Elden Ring perform even better than we all anticipated, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga arrived, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus introduced us to a new style of Pokemon game. So, there's been lots to talk, and tweet, about.

That being said, Twitter has collected data on some of the most talked about games on the platform during the first half of 2022. It's not all that surprising, but it's interesting to see what titles are taking the platform by storm this year.

There were approximately 1.5 billion tweets about gaming to round up, with the report from Twitter detailing the most tweeted about games, gaming personalities, esports teams, and more.

Valkyrie soars to top of Apex Legends pick rate charts after ALGS

If there were two main takeaways from last week's Apex Legends Global Series Year 2 Championships, they are that Australians are bloody good at Apex (congrats again, DarkZero), and that Valkyrie is the queen of the pro scene.

Valkyrie's ability to make huge rotations and escape from tight spots with her whole team, coupled with her offensive prowess, meant that her pick rate was hovering around the 98% mark throughout the entire four-day Championships. If you weren't using Valk, you either had an incredible Plan B, or you misclicked in legend select...

With over 630,000 people tuning in to the ALGS Championships according to Esports Charts, there were a whole lot of players witnessing exactly what Valkyrie could do in a sweaty pair of professional hands. While she has always been a viable pick, her ALGS dominance has seen her pick rate climb over the last couple of days, to the point where she is currently the most popular legend in the battle royale.

Every Apex Legends character got picked at ALGS Champs, except one

The Year 2 Apex Legends Global Series has just concluded, with the Australian roster of DarkZero clutching up in the ALGS Championships Finals to become the world's best Apex team. While the tired and tested Gibraltar, Valkyrie, and Caustic combination was the most common team composition through the event, it actually turns out there was a bit of love for every single legend in Apex's lineup of characters. Well, every legend except for one.

Yep, throughout the four-day event, which saw 40 teams slog it out in dozens of matches on both World's Edge and Storm Point, all bar one legend saw some ALGS Championships action at some point, according to a Twitter post from caster Jon 'Falloutt' Kefaloukos. Even those with horrifically low pick rates in the upper echelons of the Apex Legends ranks like Revenant, Rampart, and Lifeline got some love. So did newest legend Newcastle, who ended up being a key component of 100 Thieves' composition during the Finals.

Despite pros spreading the love around the whole Apex roster, there was one legend that was left in the cold, and that's Mirage.

DarkZero wins back-to-back Apex Legends LANs at ALGS Championships

DarkZero Esports has been crowned the best Apex Legends team in the world at the Apex Legends Global Series Year 2 Championships, clutching what is the roster's second consecutive title on LAN. The Australian trio of Rhys 'Zer0' Perry, Rick 'Sharky' Wirth, and Noyan 'Genburten' Ozkose battled their way back from a slow start to the final to clutch up in the ninth game when several other teams were on Match Point.

Earlier this year at the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs in Stockholm, while representing Reignite, Zer0 and Sharky stormed their way to victory alongside last-minute substitute Jake 'Jmw' Walters, who stepped in for Genburten who contracted COVID-19. While this means this is Genburten's first taste of LAN victory, Zer0 and Sharky can now call themselves back-to-back Apex LAN champions.

DarkZero acquired the Reignite roster just before the ALGS Championship, and now the organisation can claim to have a world championship-winning roster in Apex Legends.
