Apex Legends Season 13 Ranked Split 1 start time and map confirmed

Apex Legends' Season 13 update is just about here and Respawn Entertainment has confirmed several exciting details about its new Ranked Reloaded update - a set of changes that aim to increase the accuracy of a player's RP and put more focus on teamplay during ranked games. If you're looking forward to a fresh ranked experience, we have everything you need to know about the Apex Legends Season 13 Ranked Split 1 start time and map below.

The Apex Legends Season 13 release date has already been confirmed - and there's no information to suggest that Respawn is altering its update schedule - so, we know exactly when the changes to Apex Legends' ranks and ranked mode will be implemented. Apex Legends' Season 13 Ranked Split 1 will begin at 10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 17:00 GMT on May 10, 2022.

This, as you may have already clocked, is when Apex Legends' Season 13 update is dropping. It hasn't been explicitly confirmed that this is the time the first Ranked Split will begin, but looking at previous seasons suggests that it will start as soon as the season itself gets underway - following the title update.

Apex Legends: Newcastle breakdown - Gameplay overview for the game's next defensive powerhouse

Newcastle, the newest Legend coming to Apex Legends with the release of the new season, has finally had their abilities detailed in the latest trailer leading up to the official release. A highly defensive legend that takes up a powerful support role in team compositions, Newcastle is able to jump to the rescue of his teammates unlike any other character in the game.

We’ve listed out his full kit below so you can get an early look at how Newcastle works ahead of the update on May 10, as well as some additional interesting info we learned about the character during an EA press event last week.

Newcastle is able to use his own portable shield to protect allies during a revival. This uses up the same charge as his own knockdown shield, so increases the value of these defensive items throughout the game if you’ve got Newcastle hanging around.

Apex Legends Season 13's Newcastle has a secret second passive

The Apex Legends Season 13 update is almost upon us and Newcastle, the Apex Games' newest face, is shaping up to be a meta-changing addition to Respawn Entertainment's battle royale. Ahead of the Apex Legends Season 13 release date, we have a good idea of what to expect when it comes to Newcastle's kit, but did you know that he also has a secret second passive ability? Speaking to The Loadout, senior game designer Devan McGuire was kind enough to reveal that Newcastle actually has something of a second passive ability - something that makes him even more effective at protecting his team... and himself.

When we asked McGuire about Newcastle's passive ability and its relation to his Knockdown Shield, he revealed that "Newcastle has a secret passive that allows him to revive - or recharge - his Knockdown Shields" while out of combat.

Why is this a big deal? Well, at the moment, a Knockdown Shield is only recharged when the player using it is no longer down - whether that is them being revived, or them being killed. However, Newcastle is going to be the only legend who actively uses his Knockdown Shield while alive - through his Retrieve the Wounded passive.

Apex Legends' Season 13 Storm Point IMC Armories are one-use per game

Apex Legends' Season 13 is on the horizon and players can look forward to a new Storm Point POI, a new legend, and some hefty Ranked changes in the coming update. The one feature that excites us, though, is Storm Point's new IMC Armories. Home to Apex Legends' Smart Supply Bins, these locations are going to be an important part in getting the best loot while playing on Storm Point. However, getting your hands on this loot isn't going to be as easy as fighting a few waves of Spectres. Speaking to The Loadout, senior game designer Samantha Kalman has revealed that IMC Armories are "one use per game".

Yes, you're reading that right - and we heard it right, too. Apex Legends players will only be able to activate and use Storm Point's new IMC Armories once per game - and with there only being four of these dotted around the map at launch, it's not going to be easy to jump in and reap the rewards unbothered.

Explaining Respawn Entertainment's decision to limit the use of an IMC Armory to once per game, Kalman expressed that the development team had to consider "what if the ring closes near [an IMC Armory]" and how they would affect the latter stages of a game.
