Apex Legends pro completes solo ranked climb using just snipers

Apex Legends' ranked mode is a tough enough gauntlet as it is, but for some of the battle royale's top players, hitting Master or even holding on to an illustrious Apex Predator rank just doesn't push them hard enough. One Apex pro has just completed one of the latest crazy ranked challenges by climbing from Bronze to Master as a solo queuer - but only using sniper rifles.

Danish pro player Mikkel 'Mande' Hestbek, who currently plays for SCARZ in the Apex Legends Global Series, finished off one of the toughest Apex Legends ranked challenges we've seen in a while on June 7. Telling his chat that he was simply "bored of playing normal ranked" matches, Mande has honed his skills as a marksman to snipe his way up to Master rank, all while solo queuing too.

While he was clearly exhausted and done with this challenge when that Diamond 1 icon finally flicked over to Master, the Dane clearly enjoyed having an extra layer of difficulty to this ranked climb.

Apex Legends' 2022 ALGS Championship will have a live audience

Apex Legends is easily one of the most popular battle royale games out there right now - and for a lot of good reasons. One of those good reasons is the fact that it has such an exciting competitive scene, with the Apex Legends Global Series Championship being the pinnacle. It's just been officially revealed that the Championships for year two of the ALGS will be coming to Raleigh, North Carolina, and yes: there will be a live audience.

The ALGS Year 2 Championship will be held between July 7 and July 10 in the PNC Arena where 40 squads from five regions will compete for a whopping $2,000,000 prize pool and the all-important ALGS Championship title.

"With an Apex community of over 100 million unique players worldwide, the recent launch of Apex Mobile, and the growth of our competitive ecosystem, which continues to break franchise and EA esports viewership records, we're hopeful the ALGS Championship will set another major benchmark for the franchise and further position Apex Legends among the top echelon of esports," John Nelson, the commissioner of the Apex Legends Global Series, tells The Loadout.

Apex Legends' Lifeline pick rate more than Newcastle's for first time

Apex Legends players are spoilt for choice when it comes to playable legends, however, Respawn Entertainment's battle royale does not have many support legends. In fact, for a long time, there was only one option: Lifeline. This all changed at the start of Season 13, though, when Newcastle was introduced. His addition to the roster shook up the meta, along with our Apex Legends tier list, and he instantly became the number one support legend. Newcastle's popularity saw Lifeline's pick rate tumble dramatically - there was a new number one support legend in town. Now though, it appears that the natural order is being restored; Lifeline's pick rate has climbed above Newcastle's for the first time since his introduction.

Days after Newcastle was introduced to the Apex Legends roster, Lifeline's pick rate hit an all-time low. Looking at the data gathered by Apex Legends Status - a site that tracks pick-rates, average ranks, and more - it can be seen that Lifeline was only picked by roughly 3.8% of players.

To put this into perspective, Lifeline's average pick rate has been declining for some time - however, she was sitting at an average of around 5% prior to Newcastle's introduction in Season 13. When she was at her lowest, Newcastle was at his highest - boasting a pick rate of over 10%.

Apex Legends might be getting weapon stickers like Warzone

Apex Legends players have a lot of ways to express themselves in-game thanks to the game's wide range of weapon charms, legend skins, holo-sprays, and more. While there are quite a few cosmetics in the battle royale shooter, there could always be more - and it seems as though Respawn Entertainment think that, too. Why? Well, a recent datamine has revealed information that suggests Apex Legends is getting weapon stickers in the future - a little like what you'd see in Call of Duty Warzone.

Apex Legends YouTuber 'HyperMyst' recently uploaded a video offering a short glimpse of datamined weapon stickers in Apex Legends - both the raw image files and the stickers plastered all over in-game weapons. Of course, it's hard to tell if these are legitimate or not - but they look it (and we think weapon stickers are a fantastic idea).

The Apex Legends weapon stickers HyperMyst has offered us a look at showcase cartoonish chibi designs of Apex Legends' roster of characters. Those represented include Bloodhound, Wraith, Mirage, Octane, Wattson, and Horizon - among other designs. If Apex Legends' past with cosmetics is anything to go by, we could see a healthy selection of weapon stickers introduced through each in-game event and update - just like weapon charms and holo-sprays.
