Apex Legends Clubs will bring 30 players together in Season 7

Apex Legends is at its best when you play with friends. A solo queue experience in ranked is not the nicest experience, especially if you play at the top end of the Apex Legends ranks. So, in order to counter the toxic behaviour many complain about online, Respawn is adding a new social feature called Clubs feature for Season 7.

Here players will be able to search for, or create, their own club once they hit level 10. These clubs currently only accommodate 30 members and will include a number of tags such as #RankedOnly or #MicRequired to bring like minded Apex Legends players together with the same goal in mind.

The feature has been in the works since Season 4, according to designer Chad Armstrong, and was born out of Titanfall 2's Clans feature and the fact that many solo queue players often found themselves playing games with toxic randoms online. Statistics from trios games also suggested, unsurprisingly, that the majority of wins were being taken by "full or partial squads," giving the design team a clear motivation for bringing this social feature to the battle royale.

New Apex Legends character Horizon will make her enemies float

EA has given Apex Legends fans a taste of things to come in Season 7's launch trailer, which shows off the new map Olympus for the first time. It also reintroduces us to the newest legend Horizon, and debuts the Trident: a hoverbike of sorts that you can zip around in with your teammates.

In addition to the trailer, EA has posted on their official Apex Legends blog a brief summary of the new stuff that will be coming in Season 7. The most important thing is the new map, which is called Olympus and is a floating island with futuristic buildings and cherry blossoms.

Horizon is also shown off and comes across as a very cocky lass. She more than justifies her bravado though, as we see her raise an entire team up into the air for her teammates to take pot shots at. While all of the footage we see in the trailer is cinematic and in no way reflects gameplay, it does give us a good idea of just what to expect in the new season.

Apex Legends Ranked Season 7 will not feature Kings Canyon

While many players will be drooling over the prospect of a new legend and vehicles in Apex Legends Season 7, competitive-minded players will be keeping an ear out for any changes coming to ranked mode. Well, the biggest is that the game's OG map, Kings Canyon, will be booted out of competitive mode this season in favour of the brand new map Olympus.

Season 6 saw both Kings Canyon and World's Edge used in competitive play, with the season split in half to allow a fair share of time on both maps. That same system will again carry over into the next ranked season, but Kings Canyon is going to be dropped to make way for the "beautiful, lush city in the clouds" that is Olympus. Don't worry though, it will return in a later season.

Interestingly, Ranked Season 7 will see Olympus as the first map in rotation, meaning players will have to get to grips with new locations and strategies fast. Season 7 drops in Apex Legends on November 4.

Apex Legends Season 7 Ascension revealed, will feature new map and legend

Respawn has finally announced details about the next season of Apex Legends, and it'll introduce a new map, a new legend, and will add some form of vehicle into the game.

Season 7 in Apex Legends will be titled Ascension and will see the battle royale's third map, Olympus, drop. Described as a "beautiful, lush city in the clouds," Olympus sounds like it'll have a bit of a different vibe to the harshness of Kings Canyon and World's Edge. We'll just have to wait for a first look at the map to confirm these suspicions, though. There will also be a fresh way to traverse Olympus with Apex Legends' first crack at driveable vehicles. While the image doesn't give much away, it appears that a small ship called The Trident will allow you and your squadmates to hop in and cover ground quickly.

And, of course, with every new season comes a new legend. And this one is a right bonnie lass who has been teased by Respawn for a wee while now. Scottish astrophysicist Dr Mary Somers, who has the much catchier in-game name of Horizon, will become the game's 15th legend in Season 7, and her skill set includes a "mastery of gravity." We're still awaiting the specifics on her abilities, but expect some floating.
