Apex Legends' Ballistic accidentally confirmed as Season 17 character

Well, would you look at that. Our first official look at Apex Legends' Season 17 character has appeared and it was leaked by none-other than Respawn Entertaiment itself on the official Apex Legends Blog post detailing the upcoming Veiled Collection Event. Oh dear, oh dear - what a blunder!

Captured by eagle-eyed Apex Legends fans like leaker 'Garret', it looks like Respawn Entertainment initially uploaded its' Veiled Collection Event Apex Legends Blog post - which you can read for yourself here - with key artwork relating to Season 17 and the new character we're going to be met with. Now, though, it features the key artwork for Apex Legends' Revelry season.

As you can see for yourself below, it seems pretty nailed on that Ballistic is going to be joining the Apex Games when the Apex Legends Season 17 release date rolls around. In the image below, you can see that Balistic is rocking Titanfall's Smart Pistol MK5. He isn't Kuben Blisk, but he's still a legend of the game. So, yes, that also means that the theory that Apex Legends' Season 17 character might go by their leaked name after all is wrong.

Apex Legends' new Collection Event adds LTM akin to MW2 hardcore mode

Call of Duty fans, we think it's about time you check out Respawn Entertainment's battle royale. Why? Well, Apex Legends' TDM Unshielded Deadeye LTM is essentially bringing hardcore mode from Modern Warfare 2 to Apex Legends' Apex Games - and you just know that's going to be intense.

Debuting in the Veiled Collection Event, which should be the final in-game event before Apex Legends' Season 17 release date rolls around, players looking to take a break from the quintessential battle royale experience will be able to jump into a modified Team Deathmatch playlist subtitled "Unshielded Deadeye". We know that sounds like a bit of a mouthful, but it'll make a lot of sense in about eight lines time.

According to this Apex Legends Blog post on the LTM, "TDM Unshielded Deadeye is a twist on Team Deathmatch with Legends wielding lmited, rotating loadouts each match to prove thier skill." In this mode, you should find that you start with one of the following loadouts: Wingman and 30-30 Repeater, Hemlock and G7 Scout, or Kraber and Sentinel.

Apex Legends' Season 17 character might go by leaked name after all

With the next major update on the horizon, it looks like Apex Legends' Season 17 character might actually go by his originally-leaked name in the battle royale after all - and not the more recently-used name of Ballistic. In a recently-released animated short featuring Rampart and a "last minute customer", eagle-eyed Apex Legends fans have spotted a small detail that seems to suggest the newest face on the roster might not be actually using their father's moniker after all - despite the leaks.

If you're wondering what we're talking about, allow us to explain. For a fair few weeks now, it has been rumoured that the next Legend joining the Apex Games would be Ballistic. However, this Apex Legends datamine teased a rather interesting detail about the leaked Ballistic - that the character we're going to see introduced in Season 17 is actually the son of the revered combatant. So, this has led to a loose general consensus that the Ballistic we see in-game has - we suppose - inherited their father's name for their appearance in this deadly competition.

However, and a big "however" at that, Apex Legends fans have spotted the name Caliber in the recently-released animated short - on a sticky note, no less. Highlighted by Mixtape LTM lover 'Viper_Visionary' online, a note found on a board behind Rampart's head reads "[appointment] for Caliber" and "Tue".

Apex Legends' broken Flatline skin was destined for a nerf all along

We all know Respawn Entertainment's battle royale shooter Apex Legends isn't the perfect FPS game, but it's a damn fine one and there's so much to look forward to when it comes to booting up this game and sitting down to play - or, you know, standing up if you're into that. When something is introduced that's a little broken, though, it changes the experience. A recent example of this is the Splash Zone Flatline weapon skin; this AR cosmetic was updated to fix it's iron sights, which were allegedly "smaller than it should be". If you're not sure why smaller iron sights are an issue, they improve visibility and target acquisition - offering whoever's using it an unfair advantage. However, it's looking like Apex Legends' Splash Zone Flatline skin was always destined to be busted.

Now, we know that's a big claim, but there's evidence - of which was shared on the Apex Legends Uncovered subreddit by 'RaizTheOne'. As you can see for yourself below, this Apex Legends fan has found some apparent concept art for the Splash Zone Flatline skin online - something that seems to show the original iron sights design for the weapon.

The concept art, which has been shared on ArtStation by Respawn Entertainment concept artist Yinan Wei, clearly shows fairly open iron sights not dissimilar to how the Flatline weapon skin looked in-game when it was introduced - the image on the left below.
