June 30, 2025 An update today changed how visiting works, and you can now claim land on any sietch in your world.
How do Dune Awakening sietches work? We've been trying to play Dune Awakening with friends, and it's been a rough ride. With only 40 concurrent players per sietch (server), the servers are constantly locked down, stopping new players from joining their friends. However, we've discovered an easy way to play with friends, even if you can't create a character on their server.
Dune Awakening is one of 2025's best survival games and one of the most played games on Steam, resulting in the servers filling up fast. You're met with a list of worlds when you start the game, within which are over 20 sietches. We're going to break down what this means, why you can visit some sietches, and explain how you play with friends on other servers.

Dune Awakening update makes Deep Desert changes to remove PvP requirements
A new Dune Awakening update today tackles one of the survival game's most common endgame frustrations. The new MMO has proved tremendously popular, opening up its incarnation of Arrakis to a huge number of players, but its endgame shift in direction has left some underwhelmed. While most of the core progression is PvE and doesn't require you to clash with your fellow adventurers, the endgame demands you head into the Deep Desert, consequently forcing you into Dune Awakening PvP. However, that's no longer the case, as Dune Awakening patch 1.1.0.17 delivers sweeping Deep Desert changes.

Dune Awakening won't force you into PvP, Funcom says, apologizes to PvE players
Boy, that escalated quickly. Less than a day after Dune: Awakening's PvE patch went into public testing, changes that turn the "entire southern half" of the Deep Desert into a PvE area have been hotfixed into the full game.
This promised change arrives alongside the first of the scout ornithopter balancing tweaks Funcom talked about in their recent AMA, and a couple of other fixes. However, there's a bunch of stuff put into testing yesterday which hasn't yet made the jump to public release.
