Post Launch Roadmap

Hi everyone! As promised, here is a tentative roadmap for post launch content in the immediate future. As always, the update will likely drop near the end of the month.

October: Patches to fix bugs and rebalance certain gameplay elements

This one is pretty straightforward. There are still a hefty amount of bugs in the game, especially for overworld content, and there are various tweaks I would like to implement as well. The rest of October will be spent on bug patches (and maybe I’ll sneak in a personal break somewhere as well).

November: Endgame overworld and post game

With overworld gameplay hopefully fixed, I will be adding an overworld section to Act III with some new mission types and encounters. Similarly, finishing the game will now lead to a post-game mode (not the same as New Game +, which I'm also considering).

December: Backer content

This one is likely to be a big content update, including new items, weapons, armor, mods, NPCs and a few quests suggested by Kickstarter and Patreon backers.

I will be adding four additional trainers to the game. These are NPCs that can upgrade your attributes (ATH, PER, CHA, TEC) and come with their own quests.

January: Massage parlor and additional companion sex scenes

Adding a massage parlor facility to the guild hall that can be built and upgraded, as well as an additional sex scene here for all 9 companions.

Second patch is out, and a note about troubleshooting

Hi everyone!

The second post-launch patch (1.02) is out, and I've included a fix that may help the freezing issue some players are having with the game. Turns out it may be just a single line of code in the core engine .js file (thanks to SilentWriter for pointing it out).

If you were previously having issues with freezing, and version 1.02 either helped or didn't, please let me know here in the steam forums or on discord.

As many of you already know, I'm a very small solodev and I only have two test machines to try and replicate bugs on. Troubleshooting for PC games is very difficult, even for large studios, due to the variation in hardware and software players may have. For me, a lot of times it means trying to fix something I can't see. This means that there is a danger I'll break something I can't see either.

The technical aspects of gamedev are not something I would list amongst my strengths, and the game has a cobbled-together nature. I see that most of the negative reviews are focused on the more technical aspects of the game, and that's something I will be working on.

If nothing else, gamedev is a continuous learning experience. Please bear with me as I try to make the game better.

Patch 1.02

1.01 Patch

Hi everyone! I have rushed out a patch that fixes some critical bugs and hopefully provides a solution for the freezing, slowdown or stuttering issue that some players have. If you are experiencing some kind of FPS drop, you may resolve it by tinkering around with the new settings menu. I have also attempted to fix the bug that interferes with Steam’s overlay, but since this may interfere with launching the game, I will be keeping a close eye on bug reports.

As always, you can report bugs on discord or via the Steam forums, and I'll try to get to them as quickly as I can.

Changes

I have “devolved” the settings menu to a simpler version. While the old one may look slightly better, I kind of like the simplicity of the new menu. And it add several critical features, including the ability to modify your render distance, shadow quality, and to turn off dynamic lighting.

Reducing these settings should see a sizable FPS bump, especially on older computers.

  • Added a few lines to Voss’s hologram
  • Added “work of fiction” disclaimer
  • Steam overlay should now be working
  • Added one more line to Nena’s intro
  • Added a new book to the Facilitator’s empty bookcase (What is the Tech. Singularity?)

Bugs:
  • Removed Bloody Hawk questline placeholder message
  • Removed Overworld placeholder message
  • Removed guild hall upgrade placeholder messages
  • Removed Facilitator’s room placeholder message
  • Anomalie’s computer has old files
  • Oathstone event was bugged
  • Shaper-only dialogue in the Regency Clinic was bugged
  • General store dialogue bug
  • Neutral player’s dialogue bug in ACT III intro
  • Some prices in Pike’s shop fixed
  • Some journal entries reformatted
  • Various typos fixed

Working on patch for freezing/stuttering issue

Hi everyone!

I'm aware some players may be running into a freezing or stuttering issue with the game. I'm narrowing down causes for this, and it may have something to do with game settings. Once I've nailed it down I'll try to release a patch for it soon.

Thanks,
