Meet Rin in New Season Winter’s Fury

Explorers,

Season 0 may have drawn to a close, but we’re already gearing up for the next exciting season of Scavengers. In Winter’s Fury we’ll not only be rolling out our first full-length Battle Pass, but we’re also excited to introduce you to the first new playable Explorer since our Early Access launch.

Meet Rin!
Rise of Rin
Rin is a feisty competitor, heading into the frozen wasteland with a few tricks up her sleeve. Armed with her trusty SHIN-48 rifle and Smoke Bomb, this fun-loving anarchist is ready to take on all threats to her team.

The SHIN-48 is Rin’s signature weapon. It’s a hard-hitting assault rifle that can quickly cut through anything that stands in her way. Upgrading the weapon will allow Rin to outline enemy players for her team, or even trigger a chain lightning reaction!

Rin’s signature ability, the Smoke Bomb, can be used for offensive or defensive maneuvers. Toss the Smoke Bomb strategically between you and the enemy and let the billowing purple haze provide cover for a tactical retreat. For more aggressive players, aim the Smoke Bomb at your opponents. Caught within the suffocating cloud, the smoke drains enemy Stamina over time and confuses AI opponents, perfect for taking the fight to your enemies!

Rin will be in the Shop starting September 15th.
Winter’s Fury
And it doesn’t stop there. The Winter’s Fury season kicks off on September 15th! Winter’s Fury is Scavengers first full-length season, chock full of new items and gameplay features for you to enjoy.

Unlocking the Battle Pass immediately grants your first reward - Halden’s Black Death skin! As you progress through the Battle Pass, you can also unlock exciting Protector weapon skins for Tarik’s Longstriker, the Argonaut, and Rin’s SHIN-48 and a fun Cyberattack skin for Valora.

Unique banners, emblems, and titles are also available as part of the Battle Pass. And, to help your progression, you can earn Salvage, Research materials and even Chips. Don’t forget to click the ‘Claim’ button as you reach each tier!

There are over 90 curated items in the Winter’s Fury Battle Pass, giving you lots of opportunity to earn rewards and customize your Explorers.

There are two ways to unlock the Battle Pass:
 • Winter’s Fury Battle Pass: 1,150 Chips
 • Winter’s Fury Battle Pass + 20 Tier Skips: 2,150 Chips
More to Come
We will also be introducing a number of exciting features, items and challenges throughout the Winter’s Fury season. Explorers will be able to get to grips with a new weapon that’s sure to get a rise out of the opposition: the Bait Bomb. This projectile grenade summons deadly Scourge to attack your enemies - great for weakening their defences or distracting enemies while you make a quick escape.

Elsewhere, R.A.S.P Rockets will be coming to Expedition Mode. If you’re reluctant to engage with other players, R.A.S.P Rockets offer you a quick evac mid-match to escape with Datapoints and Salvage intact.

This season will also see a new adversary hit the icy climes of Cascade Springs. Bulwark is a hulking Outlander, wielding two shields, a rocket-launching backpack and a surly disposition. Explorer’s looking to take on the ferocious opponent will have their work cut out for them.

We’ll be sharing more details on all of the above, and more, in the near future.

We hope you enjoy testing out the new Explorer, Rin, and the Winter’s Fury season. As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback, as well as what you would like to see in the future.

September 1st Hotfix

We’ll be performing a hotfix Wednesday, September 1st, around 8 AM PT / 4 PM BST. There will be no downtime with this Hotfix.

Hotfix Changes:
 • Fixed: Some titles showing with the incorrect color
 • Fixed: Using the Report function while Respawning could cause a player to get stuck on the Reporting window
 • Fixed: All in-progress Research displayed the Heartseeker icon, instead of the item being Researched
 • Fixed: Textures of players respawned with the Resurrection Kit were not always correct when viewed in Spectator mode
 • Fixed: Players incorrectly respawning and teleporting to the Resurrection Kit after already respawning via the Backup Clone item

Keep Warm,
Midwinter

Our Focus This Week

Explorers,

Check out our latest Weekly Focus blog!

This will be a regular series where we’ll take a look at what the team is focusing their attention on this week, as well as their response to some of the top community feedback and suggestions we’ve received. You can also get a peek at the content and blogs planned for this week.
Developer Focus
Here, we’ll talk about some of the top topics that the team is working on this week. This isn’t their only focus - we’ll be highlighting only the main topics they’re focused on:
 • Weekly Challenges: We’re constantly striving to improve Challenges, by fixing any issues that pop up, adding new Challenge types to increase diversity, or designing new features. Weekly Challenges will be joining the Daily and Career Challenges in a future update.
 • Fog of War: An upcoming adjustment to the map and mini-map will be Fog of War. This new change will up the challenge ante by limiting visible objectives. We’ll have more information on how Fog of War works when we get closer to releasing this feature.
 • Mid-week Hotfix: We have a hotfix dropping mid-week to address a few minor issues.
 • RASP Rocket: Another upcoming feature is the addition of the RASP in Expedition Mode. The RASP is an alternative extraction method for those who wish to leave before the Dropship arrives. More info to come in the future on RASP.
Top Community Feedback
We’re on this Scavengers journey with you, and we want to improve and refine the game with the feedback and suggestions from our community. Although the team is constantly going through your feedback and incorporating them into our updates and hotfixes, we haven’t had a really good way to let you know what might be coming in the medium to long term.
So, every week, we'll share our thoughts on some of the top community feedback topics that we’ve been seeing on our platforms. We may work on some of these for a future update; some of these could be part of a long-term plan and might not have a date for when they’ll arrive in Scavengers. Others, we may be investigating or considering adding, but can’t promise that you’ll see them in the game. Finally, for some, we want to continue hearing your feedback and thoughts on them, to ensure we’re considering the right way to approach it. Let’s break them down:

Future Update: For these, we’re planning to add them to Scavengers at some point, but don’t have a confirmed release date yet. They are part of our mid to long-term plans, so it could be months before they are available in-game.
 • Rebinding Controller Keys: We’ve read your feedback around the recent controller changes. Offering preset controller bindings, giving you more flexibility on how the controller keys are mapped are all planned for a bit further down the line.
 • Previewing Cosmetics: You’ve just obtained a brand new emote and you have no way to see what it does until using it in a match. Don’t worry! We’re working on a system that will allow you to preview it before joining a match.

Interesting: We’re interested in adding these to the game and are currently looking into how it might work. We don’t have any definite plans, so they may or may not be added in a future update.
 • Controller Sensitivity: Our Rush & Attack Update adjusted the controller sensitivity. We’ve heard from many of you that the sensitivity feels worse after this update. We don’t have any plans to revert this change; however, we are discussing internally what can be done to make the sensitivity feel more satisfying.
 • Unlocking Cosmetic Items: Right now, there is no easy way to know how to obtain the different titles, emblems or banners. Will they be available in the Shop, through in-game progression, or even as an event reward? The only way to know right now is to wait for it to be awarded, or to talk to others who have already unlocked it. While we don’t have any immediate changes planned, adding more clarity is something we are interested in.
Blogs & Events
Here’s where we’ll keep you updated on what events might be happening and what blog content you might see!

Events:

Get ready for the weekly Mutator events! Mutator GunFu returns on Tuesday with random weapons every time you spawn - including the initial spawn! And then on Thursday, it’s time for high tier weapons with Mutator Arsenal. These Mutators happen twice each day, at 9:30 AM PT / 5:30 BST and 3:30 PM / 11:30 BST!

We’re dropping a mid-week Hotfix to address some minor issues, so keep an eye out for more details in the next couple of days.

A Look at What’s Happening

 • August Update: We’re finishing up the final touches for our upcoming update, focusing on addressing the remaining bugs and issues. The update is planned for later this week, so keep an eye out for the Patch Notes for full details.
 • Season Points: Currently, Season Points are tied to the Challenge system. We recently added Season Points to the Career Challenges, and we’re planning to continue making adjustments. We’re completing a balance pass on the Daily Challenges, to make many of them a bit easier to complete. Hopefully, this will help you complete the Daily Challenges to earn the Season Points. In addition, we’re planning to introduce Weekly Challenges as an additional method of obtaining Season points.
 • Daily Challenge Bug: We’ve been investigating a bug that causes some players to not receive new Daily Challenges during the reset. We’ve been investigating this issue and have determined the root cause. We’re looking to push out a fix for the Daily Challenge bug this week.
 • New Player Experience: We acknowledge that improvements are still needed to improve the experience for our new players. This continues to be a big focus for us and one of the features we’ve been working on is the new matchmaking system, which we’ve mentioned previously. We’re getting close to finishing this system and are excited to introduce it once it’s finished.

Interesting: We’re interested in adding these to the game and are currently looking into how it might work. We don’t have any definite plans, so they may or may not be added in a future update.
 • Selling Research Materials: Sometimes, you need to Disassemble Research Material to obtain the required Nanites. We’ve heard your feedback that it’s frustrating to not know how many Nanites you’ll receive before you disassemble your Materials. We agree that this information should be shown and are interested in improving the UI.
 • Explorer Abilities: Another frustration you’re sharing with us, is being unable to see what the Explorer abilities actually do in-game. While most players know that Halden’s Curative Aura will heal allies, there is nothing explaining that it will also revive downed teammates. Providing greater clarity around what the abilities do is something that we would like to improve in the future.
Developer Thoughts: We love reading your feedback and sometimes, there are game reasons why certain elements are designed a certain way. When that happens, we’ll try to explain a bit of our thoughts around design.
 • Communication: The goal of the Weekly Focus blogs is to help improve communication around our immediate focus as well as provide our thoughts on some of the top community feedback. While we hope that these blogs provide useful information, we’ve also heard you say that it’s not enough, especially on our long-term focus and the status of bugs and issues. Our first priority will be to determine a better method of communicating what bugs and issues are known, and the status of those issues when possible. We are committed to strengthening our communication with you, and would love to hear your thoughts on how we can improve. Please share them with us on Twitter or Discord.
 • New and Veteran Players: Your frustration around the new player experience, both as a new player and as a veteran playing with/against new players, has been heard. We’re currently designing features to help with the new player experience. While aimed at new players, some features such as the improved matchmaking system should also help our more veteran players find enjoyable matches.
