Here’s What’s Happening

Explorers,

Check out our latest Weekly Focus blog!

This will be a regular series where we’ll take a look at what the team is focusing their attention on this week, as well as their response to some of the top community feedback and suggestions we’ve received. You can also get a peek at the content and blogs planned for this week.
Developer Focus
Here, we’ll talk about some of the top topics that the team is working on this week. This isn’t their only focus - we’ll be highlighting only the main topics they’re focused on:
 • Hotfix: There will be a mid-week Hotfix, focused mainly on bug fixes. Keep an eye out for the full Hotfix Notes later this week.
 • Optimization and Issues: A priority focus for us is always on game optimization and bug fixes. This week, in addition to working on PC refinements, we’re also working on console optimization and correcting issues.
 • Preparing for the August Update: Our August update is right around the corner and we’re finishing up the content and features that will be included.
 • Environment Art Updates: Our Creative team has been working hard behind the scenes to update the environment art. Various locations within Cascade Springs have been updated and we’re excited to share this with you in the future.
 • New Items: Our August update will feature a few new items, including the resurrection item that we mentioned previously, to help you on your adventures.
Top Community Feedback
We’re on this Scavengers journey with you, and we want to improve and refine the game with the feedback and suggestions from our community. Although the team is constantly going through your feedback and incorporating them into our updates and hotfixes, we haven’t had a really good way to let you know what might be coming in the medium to long term.
So, every week, we'll share our thoughts on some of the top community feedback topics that we’ve been seeing on our platforms. We may work on some of these for a future update; some of these could be part of a long-term plan and might not have a date for when they’ll arrive in Scavengers. Others, we may be investigating or considering adding, but can’t promise that you’ll see them in the game. Finally, for some, we want to continue hearing your feedback and thoughts on them, to ensure we’re considering the right way to approach it. Let’s break them down:

Interesting: We’re interested in adding these to the game and are currently looking into how it might work. We don’t have any definite plans, so they may or may not be added in a future update.
 • Teammate’s Keeper Timer: When your teammate activates their Keeper, it’s hard to know how much longer before it finishes. We’d like to adjust the UI so that the time is visible to the entire squad, not just the person who activated the Keeper.
Developer Thoughts: We love reading your feedback and sometimes, there are game reasons why certain elements are designed a certain way. When that happens, we’ll try to explain a bit of our thoughts around design.
 • Horde Mode EXP: We’re hearing from you that EXP for Horde Mode is low. Horde Mode is intended to generate less EXP compared to Expedition Mode. However, we do plan to look into this, to check that the level of EXP is where we expect it to be.
 • Squad Size: We’ve heard your gameplay feedback both on loading into a match without a full team, and the desire for solo and duo queue. While we don’t have any immediate plans to create a solo or duo queue, we’re always thinking of future ideas.
 • PvE Modes: Horde Mode is our first foray into creating a PvE-only experience. We plan to continue improving and evolving Horde Mode, to make it more fun and exciting for you. We’re also interested in exploring additional PvE modes, although those would be planned for a bit further on in the future.

Current Dev Focus

Explorers,

This will be a regular series where we’ll take a look at what the team is focusing their attention on this week, as well as their response to some of the top community feedback and suggestions we’ve received. You can also get a peek at the content and blogs planned for this week.
Developer Focus
Here, we’ll talk about some of the top topics that the team is working on this week. This isn’t their only focus - we’ll be highlighting only the main topics they’re focused on:
 • Shop Update: We’re preparing content for our next major update, including our biggest shop update so far! We know that you would love to see more cosmetic items and these changes will be bringing new skins for Explorers, weapons, Keepers, and more.
 • Season Point Addition: We’ve heard your feedback about adding more ways to earn Season Points. We’re working on adding Season Points to the Career Challenges. We’re also looking into other ways for players to earn Season Points during a Season.
 • Matchmaking Improvements: We’re almost ready to roll out the new matchmaking system. This new system comes with a major shift - players from different regions will be able to matchmake together, especially during low population times.
 • New Salvage: Get ready to collect new Salvage with the next major update. Join Horde Mode to earn this new Salvage once it goes live.

Developer Thoughts: We love reading your feedback and sometimes, there are game reasons why certain elements are designed a certain way. When that happens, we’ll try to explain a bit of our thoughts around design.
 • Blocking Players: We want to clear up some confusion we’ve heard around the block feature. Blocking players is designed to stop their ability to communicate through voice chat and prevent them from sending friend requests. It does not, however, stop them from being matched up in the same game.
 • Weapon Skins: Currently, if you have a weapon skin it will appear on any Crafted weapon, but won’t appear on a weapon if you pick it up from a chest. Although we don’t have any immediate plans to change how the system works, we can discuss adjusting it, so that skins appear on non-Crafted weapons.
 • Using Abilities: We’ve heard your request to allow Explorers to use abilities when sliding or in the air. We’ll be discussing this internally, to decide if this is something that we want to change, or if we’re happy with how it’s currently working. We appreciate your feedback on this and as always, want to continue hearing from you - keep sharing your ideas with us!
 • Opus: The Opus is a recurring discussion topic and we’ve heard your thoughts on how powerful it feels, especially compared to similar weapons, such as Letty’s Rosie. We don’t have any definite info to share about any changes; however, we are constantly looking at weapon balance and will make adjustments as needed.
Developer Focus
Here, we’ll talk about some of the top topics that the team is working on this week. This isn’t their only focus - we’ll be highlighting only the main topics they’re focused on:
 • August 4th Hotfix: We’re rolling out another Hotfix this week. This should fix some server crashes and fix several text chat issues in the game. We are continuing investigation into other ongoing text chat issues.
 • X-Fyre Issue: Last week we identified an issue with the X-Fyre bow where using it could cause a crash. We temporarily removed the X-Fyre from the game. This week, we’re working on fixing that issue so that the X-Fyre will once again be available for use.
 • Stamina Tuning Pass: We’re taking a look at how Stamina functions in Scavengers. We’re doing a tuning pass to improve how Stamina feels.
 • Horde Mode Improvement: We’ve talked about improving Horde Mode. The goal for our first set of improvements is to adjust the scalability and difficulty.
 • Performance Optimization: Although we haven’t talked about it recently, optimization is always a priority. We’re currently working on improving the UI performance, which should hopefully help lower spec machines and aid us in getting console closer to release.

Investigating: We’re looking into these topics, to ensure that they are currently working as intended.
 • Extra Salvage: Acquiring Salvage is important so you can Research weapons, items, and Talents. For some though, you’ve already Researched everything and have no way to use the extra Salvage. We’re interested in finding other ways for you to use your Salvage. We’re also looking into adding new Salvage types to Scavengers...
 • Auto Sprint: Providing the option to automatically sprint is interesting. It could open up new possibilities, such as making it easier to search the Inventory while moving forward. This is something we are interested in investigating, especially with how it could function on controllers.
