This Week’s Focus

Explorers,

We’re back with our latest Weekly Focus blog!

This will be a regular series where we’ll take a look at what the team is focusing their attention on this week, as well as their response to some of the top community feedback and suggestions we’ve received. You can also get a peek at the content and blogs planned for this week.
Developer Focus
Here, we’ll talk about some of the top topics that the team is working on this week. This isn’t their only focus - we’ll be highlighting only the main topics they’re focused on:
 • July 21st: Horde Update: Mark the date: Our July 21st Update brings with it a PvE Horde Mode, Season 0 Battle Pass, the EXP rework and more! We’ll be focused on supporting this update, so please let us know of any bugs or issues that you encounter while playing.
 • Dunk the Devs: At the end of the week, we’ll be running a special ‘Dunk the Devs’ event. During that event, keep an eye out for a member of our dev team in your match - we’ll be the one with a special IGN (in-game name). Keep an eye out for more info on this event, later this week.
 • Mutator Events: Last week, we introduced two Mutator events: GunFu and Arsenal. We’ll be running those events again this Tuesday, July 20th and Thursday, July 22nd.
 • Horde Mode: We’re excited to see how you feel about the new PVE Horde Mode! We’ll be keeping a close eye on your feedback after this mode goes live, so please share your thoughts and ideas with us.
Top Community Feedback
We’re on this Scavengers journey with you, and we want to improve and refine the game with the feedback and suggestions from our community. Although the team is constantly going through your feedback and incorporating them into our updates and hotfixes, we haven’t had a really good way to let you know what might be coming in the medium to long term.

So, every week, we'll share our thoughts on some of the top community feedback topics that we’ve been seeing on our platforms. We may work on some of these for a future update; some of these could be part of a long-term plan and might not have a date for when they’ll arrive in Scavengers. Others, we may be investigating or considering adding, but can’t promise that you’ll see them in the game. Finally, for some, we want to continue hearing your feedback and thoughts on them, to ensure we’re considering the right way to approach it. Let’s break them down:

Future Update: For these, we’re planning to add them to Scavengers at some point, but don’t have a confirmed release date yet. They are part of our mid to long-term plans, so it could be months before they are available in-game.
 • Respawn System: Based on your feedback, we’re continuing to make changes to the Respawn System, including reducing the Datapoints requirement. We’re also fixing a bug that shows a higher Datapoint requirement.
 • In-Game News: Currently, the best places to find information and news about Scavengers is on our website, Steam, or our social channels. With information spread across several channels, we realize that it could be confusing to know where to look - especially if news isn’t shared on all those channels. We agree that major news should also be shared in-game, so all players can be kept updated. We’re also looking into future options to make it easier to find essential news while playing Scavengers.
Investigating: We’re looking into these topics, to ensure that they are currently working as intended.
 • Initial Weapon Spawns: The initial spawn areas should all contain the same number of weapons, so no matter where you spawn, your team can be ready for action. We’ve heard that some areas feel as though fewer weapons spawn, making it more difficult at the start of the match. We’ll be investigating this, to ensure that all areas have the same number of weapons.
 • Respawning Near Enemies: Another feedback point we’ve heard is that sometimes when you respawn, enemies are nearby. You should respawn near your teammates, but not immediately in front of enemies. We’ll be looking into this, to ensure that it is working correctly.
 • Mutator Event Timing and Announcements: Last week, we introduced Mutator events: unique twists to the normal Expedition rules. Our announcements, especially on our social channels, might come a bit too late for some players to plan around the events and enjoy them. We’re working on fixing that, so that you have advanced notice before an event starts.
Upcoming Blogs
Here’s where we’ll keep you updated on what blog content you might see!

This week is a big content update, so most of our comms are focused around that! We kicked the week off talking about the Season 0 Battle Pass starting on July 23rd and the new PvE-only Horde Mode coming July 21st!

Tomorrow, we’ll be sharing what else you can expect in the July 21st Update with the Patch Notes. And at the end of the week, learn more about our Dunk the Devs event - stay tuned!

We’re committed to creating Scavengers with our amazing players. Please share your feedback and suggestions and let us know your thoughts on our focus topics.

Free Battle Pass and Brand New Horde Mode

JULY 22 UPDATE:

We would like to clarify the confusion surrounding purchasing a Battle Pass from the Season tab of the Shop.

We are offering a stand-alone Season 0 Battle Pass, which is currently FREE until August 6th. There is also a Season 0 Elite Bundle, which contains the Battle Pass and 5 Tier Skips. This bundle is discounted to 250 Chips while the Battle Pass is free.

You can only purchase the Season 0 Battle Pass OR the Season 0 Elite Bundle. Once you have purchased either item, BOTH items will be removed from the Shop.

Lastly, there is a Season Tier Skip for 100 Chips, that allows you to skip a tier. This item should remain in the Shop even after purchasing a Battle Pass.

We apologize for the initial confusion around purchasing the Battle Pass.

Explorers,

Things are heating up in Cascade Springs with our July update! We’re adding a new PvE-only Horde Mode for those who want to take a break from other teams on the attack, and a FREE (for a short while) mini Battle Pass to earn some cool First Frontier skins. Here’s what’s coming up!
Season 0 Battle Pass
Battle Passes have been something we’ve been exploring and we’re excited to introduce a new Scavengers Battle Pass in our next update! We’ll be running the first season - Season 0 - with a mini Battle Pass. As this is new territory for us, we’d love to get your feedback on what works and what doesn’t. Be sure to share your thoughts with us.

We are so very thankful for your dedication and passion for Scavengers since Early Access began in late April. To show our gratitude, we’ll be offering the Season 0 Battle Pass FREE for a limited time!

From July 23rd until August 6th, you can claim your free Battle Pass in the Shop. After that, it will still be available in the Shop at a permanent discount as an ongoing thank you for staying with us.

Our first Battle Pass season will last for 45 days, starting on Friday, July 23rd and ending on Monday, September 6th.

With the Battle Pass, you can earn fun new First Frontier cosmetic items, including a First Frontier Cruz skin, a cosy new Keeper skin, weapon skins, banners, and emblems. In addition to the new cosmetics, you can also earn some Chips and Research resources.

After unlocking the Battle Pass, you’ll immediately be able to claim the first reward - Cazador’s First Frontier weapon skin! Earning more rewards is easy - simply complete Challenges to earn progress towards the next tier. Don’t forget to claim your reward for each tier that you’ve unlocked!
New PvE Horde Mode
The newest update includes our first PvE-only mode: Horde! This will be available after the update on July 21st. Entering Horde Mode is easy - simply click on ‘Expedition’ in the main lobby and switch to ‘Horde’!

What’s Horde Mode all about? Here’s the low-down.

Teams of three must stand strong against waves of AI enemies, protecting two Data Uplinks. Collect enough data from destroyed enemies and Mother will send a rescue ship—called a R.A.S.P—to save you from the frozen wasteland.

Between horde waves, be sure to scavenge for weapons, ammo, and Scrap. Scrap can be used to Craft items or repair defenses, such as barricades and turrets. An adventurous Explorer can also scavenge the Orbital Debris to gain extra Scrap and data - if your team can survive without you...

You must protect the Data Uplinks if you want to get out alive. If both are destroyed, it’s game over and not even Mother can save you. Getting enough data to call down the R.A.S.P doesn’t mean you’re safe though, you’ll have to defend your rescue rocket until it’s time for extraction. Only then can you make your escape!.

We hope you enjoy testing out the new Season 0 Battle Pass and Horde mode. As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the new update, as well as what you would like to see in the future!

What's Happening This Week

 • Final Testing for the July Update: Our next content update will be arriving next week, so we’re in the final stages to QA test new features and bug fixes.
 • Season 0 Battle Pass: With our July update, we will be introducing a Season 0 Battle Pass. This will be a test of the Battle Pass system during our inaugural season. We’ll be sharing more information soon.
 • Horde Mode: Horde Mode is an upcoming PvE feature where you and your team face off against waves of AI opponents. We’re excited to hear your feedback on the brand-new Horde Mode once it’s been released.
 • Matchmaking Improvements: We’re continuing to work on improvements to our matchmaking system. The goal behind these changes is to make the matchmaking system tuneable in the future. The matchmaking system won’t be introduced with our July update but it’s expected to come online when it’s ready.

Finally, for some, we want to continue hearing your feedback and thoughts on, to ensure we’re considering the right way to approach it. Let’s break them down:

Future Update: For these, we’re planning to add them to Scavengers at some point, but don’t have a confirmed release date yet. They are part of our mid to long-term plans, so it could be months before they are available in-game.
 • Stamina System: We’ve heard your feedback on the “clunky” stamina system. We agree - it needs a bit of a rework to make it feel better. It’s something that we’re planning to address in a future update.
 • Respawn System: We know that the respawn system hasn’t been the smoothest experience, especially trying to find a Data Uplink in the late game. We’re planning to fix this so that a Data Uplink will always be available on the map.
 • Rebinding Controller Keys: We have plans to allow limited rebinding options. You will be able to select one of several preset options for your key bindings. There may also be additional customizable key binding options available when this is introduced.
Interesting: We’re interested in adding these to the game and are currently looking into how it might work. We don’t have any definite plans, so they may or may not be added in a future update.

 • Practice Area: Having a separate practice area to test out Explorers and weapons is something that we’re interested in adding to Scavengers. Although we’re interested in potentially adding it in the future, we don’t currently have any plans when or if it might be included.

More Mutators Are Coming

Explorers,

This past weekend we introduced our new Mutator events where we add a unique twist to the normal Expedition Mode rules.

We’ve heard some positive feedback from those who participated and enjoyed the event, so we’re bringing back the Arsenal Mutator this week - and debuting the GunFu Mutator!

Our plan is to start running them on a regular basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Starting off, these events will be active twice a day and may add in more times in the future.
MUTATOR GUNFU EVENT
During the Mutator: GunFu event, you will receive two random weapons when you respawn! This little twist means that the weapons you have when you die won’t be the same weapons you have after being resurrected.

We’ll be running this event twice on Tuesday, July 13th:
 • 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM PT / 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM BST
 • 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM PT / 11:30 PM - July 14th 1:30 AM BST
MUTATOR ARSENAL EVENT
The Mutator: Arsenal event returns! With every chest containing an Uncommon or higher rarity weapon, you could find what you want to complete your dream loadout! You can even find higher tier Signature Weapons when you open up random chests throughout Cascade Springs - including right as the match begins.

We’ll be running this event twice on Thursday, July 15th:
 • 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM PT / 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM BST
 • 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM PT / 11:30 PM - July 16th 1:30 AM BST

We hope that you enjoy the new twists introduced with these events. We would love to hear what you think of these Mutators and what other fun rule changes you would like to see!
