New soundtracks!

Hello there!

This week's patch is small yet significant.

 • New Original Sound Tracks
 • Reworked action for hiring bandits on your side
 • Debugged the HQ panel
New Original Sound Tracks
Jérémie Frémont has composed three exceptional new pieces for the game. If you appreciate Jérémie's work, you can explore his other compositions here:https://jeremiefremont.bandcamp.com/
Reworked Action for Hiring Bandits on Your Side
Previously, unlikely outcomes were possible, such as Communists hiring White Russian Bandits. This issue has been resolved with the current patch.

Hiring bandits outside of a character's home province is now more challenging, especially if the bandit unit is strong or heavily armed. In such cases, you might need to pay extra to recruit them.

Consequently, you should now send only your most skilled negotiators to persuade bandits to join your side. Traits like being an opium or gambling addict could be advantageous in negotiations with bandit leaders.
The HQ Panel Has Been Debugged
There were some odd behaviors observed while using the HQ panel for troop management. These issues have been resolved. The HQ panel should now function seamlessly, making it an effective tool for managing large factions with multiple armies.

Upcoming Updates:

*Improved proofreading for the English version and more community-translated content are on the way.
*With many players now adept at the game, it's time to enhance the 1920 sandbox AI.
*I have also a pile of small bugs to fix, huge enough to qualify for bug patch alone.

That's all Folks!
Have fun!

-The failed Guangzhou Uprising event will no longer chain trigger each turn.

-Red Guards will no longer lose loyalty and morale between turns if they are in a district meeting the "fish in the sea" conditions.
-There will now be fewer desertions during difficult times.
New actions
I added two actions to change the Tax Collector of a district:

2) The Nanjing Finance Minister can now gain total tax control of a district where the Opium Suppression Office has been established. This action is the culmination of a long chain of policies and will facilitate the Guomindang faction's management in long games.chain of policies, may will facilitate the Guomindang faction management in long games.
New cheat code
"themanfromJiangxi": Will change the home province of the selected character for Jiangxi (beware, there is a capitalized J in that chat code)

Post Red Bases Fix patch

Hello there!

I hope you are enjoying the latest significant content update.

This patch is relatively small, focused on fixing various issues. Please read below for the list of changes.
First of all: A New Cheat Code!
"redvanguard": This cheat code will transform the units of the selected characters into red guards units.

"redarmy" cheat code has been reworked: You will now gain more officer characters when using it.
Now, These Things Have Been Fixed or Modified:
1927 GMD balance reworked: Playing as the GMD in Red Bases should be easier now.

Nanjing Government: When Wang Jingwei joins that government, the members of his faction will now correctly appear in the political chart, most likely as left Guomindang members.

Borderlands Move Arrows: They should now all be easily clickable. Some were obscured by the new feature button to open neighboring province maps.

Red Guards Move Dialogues: The dialogue has been debugged, and you can now move your red guards safely if you had the option to hide move dialogues unchecked.

Unholy Alliances: Setting up alliances between the Guomindang and the CCP in 1927 should now be really difficult.

Guominjun in Beijing: Returning to Beijing as the Guominjun will have diplomatic consequences someday.

Ready to Betray Characters: The bug that prevented you from recruiting characters ready to betray from the character pool, even if you had the money, has been removed.

Officers Switching Sides to the Communists: This should happen less frequently now.

Commissars Lost at Load: This issue should no longer occur!

Disappearing Ma Family: They will now be correctly displayed in the faction's list in the 1927 scenarios.

Red Bases 1927

Hello!

A new big update full of content is now online!

 • New scenario
 • Quality of Life Features
 • New Cheat Codes
 • What is next?
New Scenario: 1927 Red Bases
The new scenario features the entirety of China, except for Mongolia, and commences in August 1927. Anticipate numerous communist uprisings!

The new scenario introduces new actions and abilities for the Communist player:

Red Guards: A novel type of unit geared towards guerrilla actions.
An uprising mode for Guangzhou.
Long marches.
A plethora of new CCP historical characters, some with a military background.
Now, you'll truly be capable of establishing robust red bases and defending them. Playtests have demonstrated that seasoned players can assume control over multiple provinces.
When playing as the CCP, you can select your initial faction: will you lead the Nanchang uprising, the Harvest uprising, or the Hailufeng Soviet?

New abilities for the Guomindang:

In this scenario, you govern a new entity: the Nanjing government. Your mission is to both conclude the Northern Expedition and reunify the Party, currently fragmented into several factions.

You may consider dismissing your Generalissimo, Jiang Jieshi, to facilitate the Party's reunification. If you do so, he will return even more potent later on.

With a perpetual need for funds, you gain new actions for government control of the opium market (they become available after developing the anti-smuggling brigade in a district).

New abilities for the Fengtian/Anguojun:

The Northern warlords have coalesced into the Anguojun and, at the scenario's inception, are launching a final (perhaps desperate) counter-offensive.

You'll need to manage your currency printing: as long as you continue to gain ground, all will be well, but any setbacks may result in the devaluation of your currency.

The Japanese are no longer as friendly as they once were and aspire to seize control of Manchuria. If you begin to lose ground and your relations deteriorate, they might even plot your assassination!

This faction also gains new actions for relocating peasants from the central plains of China to Manchuria and enjoys a special logistical bonus for supplying any unit connected by rail to the Mukden industrial complex.
Quality of Life Features
Many enhancements have been incorporated, addressing numerous inconveniences.

Take a look at the options menu while in-game: you can now adjust settings such as disabling the automatic display of district reports or displaying area control colors on the map regardless of the zoom level.

Managing large factions has been made significantly more convenient with a new feature: you now have the option to delegate a character from your reserve pool to the AI. Such a character will act autonomously, utilizing their best abilities based on their roles. This option becomes available once you have a minimum of five characters in your active pool.

To simplify navigation between provinces, I've added buttons throughout the province map.

Additionally, you'll notice new buttons in the upper-right corner of character sheets for smoother interactions with your characters.

And for added convenience, you can now press "P" to instantly open the province map for the selected character's current location.
New Cheat Codes
You're in for a treat with the second one!

**"miamivice": Grants you anti-smuggling brigades and opium suppression offices in every district under your control.

**"thepartyneverends": Extends the game's duration by an additional 100 turns.

**"cantonragtime": Originally intended for playtesting purposes only, this cheat code may produce unexpected results if used in the wrong scenario or with the wrong faction. It triggers the 1927 Guangzhou Uprising. Use with caution!
What's Next
It seems like it's time to start working on a better wiki.

On the to-do list, we have:

-Adding new music tracks to the game.
-Expanding "Guangdong Revolutionary Base" and "1925 Sandbox scenarios" to encompass all of China.
-Introducing a "Shanghai" Communist group to the 1927 Red Bases scenario.
-Creating a 1927 sandbox scenario.
-Incorporating more spy/underground life-specific actions and Red base organization actions into the "1927 sandbox."
-Expanding the People's Liberation Army (PLA) with additional abilities, such as the ability to change commanders at will.
-Pursuing the translation into Simplified Chinese.*

Please share in the comments which of these developments excites you the most.

*It still progresses, but expect some delays, including the fact that the new patch alone introduced tons of new texts.

1927 Red Bases preview

It's incredible how quickly time passes when you're working hard on a game! A player recently informed me that I haven't posted any news for over a month. So, here's a preview of my current work.

A significant content and quality of life update is in progress. I've included some images below for you to take a look at. I don't have a specific ETA yet, but it's about 80% complete.

What's included?
1927 Red Bases
Red Bases will be an extensive scenario covering the entire China map (excluding Mongolia). I want it to be the equivalent of the Little Model China sandbox scenario, but set in the late 1920s.

The scenario begins with the Nanchang uprising, a divided nationalist faction, and Northern Warlords poised to launch a violent counter-offensive.

Certain parts of the game have been reworked specifically to simulate the Communist Party's evolution towards guerrilla warfare. Expect new gameplay mechanics.

To reflect the turmoil of the White Terror and the difficulty in communication between the Party Central Committee and the various provinces, the CCP faction is divided into four groups, each with its own victory conditions. Of course, you will be able to join forces with the other groups and reunite them.

Two new governments have been added: the Anguo military government in Beijing and the Nanjing government.

The Guomindang itself is divided into several factions (The Nanjing faction, Tang Shengzhi in Hubei, and Wang Jingwei).

There are many other exciting features coming with this scenario, but I'll let you discover them when it's released.
Quality of Life Features
Many more options, including:

The possibility to let an AI control characters in your reserve pool
This option will unlock when you recruit your fifth character. It will help you grow a large faction. Keep in mind that characters controlled by the AI won't be as loyal or efficient as you might hope.

Move on right-click option
This feature is designed to prevent misclicks. I'm not entirely sure if I like it, but it's now available in the options menu.

Do not automatically open reports
You can now toggle this option in the menu. I know it has been a source of annoyance for some of you.

More consistent map information at any zoom level
The system that displayed different information depending on the zoom level was not popular. Now, you can even keep the colored controlled areas visible on the map at maximum zoom levels if you prefer.

Improved navigation between provinces
I've made it easier to navigate between provinces on the province maps.

I'm sure I've forgotten to mention some of the features I'm working on these days, but you'll discover them in due time.

If you have any bright ideas or requests, please feel free to share them using the comment section.

Have fun!
