Jan. 18, 2022 Patch Notes - Return of the Shotgun

Shotguns are powerful weapons in real life. A single scatter shot is enough to turn anyone into Swiss cheese.
Due to its unique characteristics, shotguns are commonly seen as being OP in many FPS settings.
In our Alpha Test, we’ve also felt that the shotgun was overpowered, and have been nerfing its power with balance patches during the CBT.
However, we quickly realized that the shotgun’s current state does not do its reputation justice.
As such, we have carried out several balance tests to bring the shotgun back to its former glory.

1. Balance Changes
- Shotguns have been improved to become the king of close-quarter gun fights. It will pack a mean punch up close, but also have a steep damage fall-off as distance to the target increases.
- TIP: Don’t be scared of early game bum rushes by opponents. With their low defenses, you can quickly take out your enemies by aiming at their torso.
- TIP: Shotguns are strong weapons, but the SWAT’s Close-range Defense is also just as strong. Be wary when you spot a SWAT.

1) Weapon
- Shotgun’s damage has been greatly increased.
- However, its damage falls off quickly when exceeding its firing range.
Before: Deals 100% damage between 0 and 10 meters. From 10 to 40 meters, damage will gradually fall off down to 30%.
After: Deals 100% damage between 0 and 10 meters. From 10 to 25 meters, damage will gradually fall off down to 30%.

2) Hitbox Damage Modifier
- Changed the Bulletproof Vest so that it also covers the hips.
- Simplified reduced damage hitboxes for hands and feet.

3. Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where closing your inventory while looting a player’s backpack, and then looting a different player’s backpack would show the list of items from the former.
- Fixed a bug where if a bullet pierced the arm and hit the torso, damage would only register as being shot in the arm.
