Optimization Update

Hi All,

This update focuses on optimization mainly and there is a new button in the Options panel for switching VSync on/off. The FPS has increased by 20-40 on my laptop after optimization. I am using an Acer Aspire 3 (Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, GeForce MX230) for testing. I have also updated the Unity3D to a newer version and changed the build mode that further improving FPS. Unfortunately, the new build is totally different and it will take much longer to download this update. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Three new quests:
Runaway slaves banded together and set up camp in the nearby woods. You can get slave workers or human meat if you kill or capture them.

Some deserter set up camp not far from your estate. They are dangerous opponents due to their military training and equipment. You can obtain random loot, gold, and human flesh to feed your monsters.

A group of bandits set up camp in the nearby area. They are equipped with bows and leather armor. You can expect some loot, gold, and human meat if you win.

Bugs fixed:
  • The arena info panel was missing for the Catacomb and five other cave quests.
  • There were not enough ingredients to brew the second Potion of Cure in the crafting tutorial.
  • Trainer skill increases even after reaching the maximum value of 100.
  • Offspring trait info is occasionally missing from the monster breeding window or overlapping with other text lines.

Demo available!

This demo represents the Early Access gameplay and will last until the end of the first quest (Guild entry quest) or a maximum of 18 turns.

Please feel free to try this game!

New update is out!

This update focuses on new potions and balance changes. New potions make it possible to manipulate trait inheritance and create transfusable blood. The effect of multiple magic treatments has been significantly increased, and raising one hybrid is enough to complete the Guild's entry quest.
Added:
Blood Potion
This new potion can be used to create transfusible blood. You can mix it with the blood of any creature.

Fire Extract
This potion raises the magnitude of inherited fire-related traits such as fire resistance, fire bite, and fire skin. It also increases the chance of inheriting abilities like fire skin, and fire spit. Furthermore, offspring will inherit lower fear of fire.

Frost Extract
This potion raises the magnitude of inherited frost-related traits such as frost resistance, frost bite. It also increases the chance of inheriting ice breath. Furthermore, offspring will inherit lower fear of frost.

Shock Extract
This potion raises the magnitude of inherited shock-related traits such as shock resistance, shock bite, and shock skin. It also increases the chance of inheriting shock skin. Furthermore, offspring will inherit lower fear of shock.

Poison Extract
This potion raises the magnitude of inherited poison-related traits such as poison resistance, poison bite, and poison skin. It also increases the chance of inheriting poison spit.

There is a new inventory panel in the Base Management window. It shows all the weapons, armors, and potions not used by the characters. It makes it easier to sell a large amount of unnecessary equipment.
Changes:
• The effect of all magic scrolls, blood, and the following potions are doubled:
    • Growth Potion
    • Swiftness Potion
    • Endurance Potion
    • Stoneskin Potion
  • The effect of Taming Potion and Runestone of Taming has been increased by 50%.
  • The effect of Runestone of Fire/Frost/Shock is tripled.
  • All types of equipment and book are available for sale at Herb's Market instead of limited random stock.
  • All scrolls and runestones are available for purchase at Guild's Fair. No limited random stock.
  • It is enough to raise one hybrid for the Guild entry quest.
  • The Sorcerer character bonus includes a Blood Infusion Tool and three different types of blood.
  • The game saves the banner and the name you set in the New Game tab.
  • Poison spit does 1 HP damage on the target.
  • Any poisoned character can be poisoned again. If the new poisoning effect is higher or lasts longer, it will overwrite the old one.
  • There is a reward item for every fight at the King's Own Tournament.
  • Material need for potion making has been increased.
  • Material need for forging has been decreased.
  • The price of iron, steel, and magma steel has been reduced.
  • The room info shows the number of monsters/eggs in each chamber of the Old Keep in the Base Management window.
  • Capacity info has been added to the monsters and hatchlings window.
Bugs fixed:
• Buttons are occasionally inactive in the character generation window.
  • The poison spit ability can trigger a false poisoned effect on the attacker monster.
  • Ryodoron has not enough action points to use tail attack ability.
  • Enemy monsters occasionally use more action points than they have when spitting poison.
  • Alchemist's production queue falsely indicates 0 turns to complete potions.
  • The game does not update the energy bar after a webbing attack during combat.
  • Infusing blood of the same class does not reduce the fear. For example, insectoid blood did not decrease the fear of insectoids if used on insectoid monsters.
  • The upkeep cost was not updated when the creature was moved out from Monster Keep/Monster Lab, and temperature/humidity control was on.

Early game rework

This update focuses on the early game. I have added a character generation, a new arena, and the Monster Breeder Guild entry quest. There are seven new caves added to collect eggs and juvenile creatures.

Character generation for new games with five selectable classes, each with a unique bonus:
  • Warrior - gets revenue from a village as a lesser nobleman
  • Archer - has the chance to get meat, eggs, and juvenile creatures every turn
  • Sorcerer - receives a flat bonus in taming
  • Blacksmith - gets an iron forge
  • Alchemist - has a chance to get alchemy ingredients every turn

Monster Breeder Guild entry quest
The player receives a Crossbreed Potion and must raise three hybrids to get guild membership. Without the membership, the player is not allowed to fight in the monster arena or visit Guild's Fair. These hybrids must not be offspring of related species.

New arena - Catacomb
Catacomb is an infamous prison and execution site. The player can send any tamed or untamed creatures to fight against humans or animals. All combats are lethal, and only non-hybrids can participate. The player can earn some money fighting in the Catacomb, but the real challenge awaits in the monster arena.

A new rule has been implemented. Only hybrids are allowed to participate in tournaments in the monster arenas. Creatures of natural species can fight in the Catacomb.

New caves:
  • Redleg Spider
  • Black Bear
  • Snow Bear
  • Varanus
  • Sea Varanus
  • Hyena
  • Water Rat

There is a quick "tutorial" fight at the beginning. A Hunterbug has laid eggs in the dungeon cellar of the Old Keep. It is injured and weak but fiercely protects its eggs.

Bugs fixed:
  • Warning message stuck on the screen in the Recruitment window.
  • Occasionally not possible to select characters for combat during cave quests.
  • Auto combat results in victory while all combatants were defeated.

Bug fixes

Hi All,

This quick patch consists of bug fixes and some minor gameplay changes.

Now, I am focusing on reworking the early game. I plan to add character generation, more caves, a new arena, and a starting quest.

Changes:
  • A webbing attempt is always successful if the defender does not have enough energy to dodge.
  • AI uses the "Pack attack" ability more frequently.
  • Characters gain +50% experience in lethal combat.
  • Creatures in caves are less passive.

Fixed:
  • There were no enchanted bows available for purchase in the caravan.
  • Player gets the same money for hybrids and natural species at the monster market.
  • False combat icon appears in the Tournament window after completion of quests.
  • Fear was not updated when an enemy on an adjacent hex died.
  • The potion strength of antitoxin does not affect its price.
  • Antitoxin removes all poisoning effects regardless of its potion strength.
  • The efficacy-enhancing effect of the infusion apparatus did not work for the Stoneskin Potion.
  • Occasionally wrong animations for the moderately sick creatures.
  • False "Ongoing construction" icon occasionally appears in the Base Management window.
  • The energy bar is not updating when the arcane circle drains the character's energy.
  • The fear icon does not appear when the arcane circle increases the character's fear.
  • Webbing chance info appears above the wrong character in combat.
  • Slave combatants leave service due to breach of contract.
  • Combat info indicates incorrect damage for the "Pack attack".
  • If combatants leave your service, tournament eligibility is not updating automatically. The same happened in the case of slave combatant escape.
  • Male/female icon appears for eggs in the Hatchlings window.
  • Poison bites do not have an effect in case of a counter-attack.
  • Armor pop-up info indicated false protection values.
  • The character panel does not show bite strength in the "Prepare for combat" window.
