My right fender hits another driver and dissolves into splinters, like rusty confetti at a wedding for metallurgists. "No big deal," I remark, and keep driving. I veer into a shipping container and the entire engine bay flattens against me like an empty can of Pabst Blue Ribbon squashed in the hands of a frat boy. "A minor setback," I say, and reverse back onto the track, before trundling on in glorious last place. Wreckfest 2 is further evidence of a truth long upheld by non-serious racing games: a car is funnier the more fucked up it gets.

This hotfix fixes the crash that occurs when attempting to rebind controller buttons.

Changelog:

• Game no longer crashes to "could not open file for writing" upon first launch.
  
• More robust max clients check, possibly fixing the issue where shown server client counts doesn't match actual in the server browser.
  
• Fixes to input bindings - please note that some pedals you currently need to bind twice for the axes to be correct, and bindings might be lost after a restart.
  
• Fixed gear dropping back to neutral when using a h-shifter controller.
  
• Fixed a bug resulting in the game crashing to "Bag index '0'" fatal error.
  
• In most cases it's now possible to choose the discrete GPU as a rendering device.
  
• Improved performance of Savolax Sandpit Reverse layout.

Wreckfest 2 is crashing into Early Access on Steam today, bringing next-level car destruction, slicker graphics, improved physics, and a whole lot of new features to fuel your inner petrolhead. And yes, it’s once again developed by Bugbear Entertainment – the masters of metal-mangling mayhem.

Just like its predecessor, Wreckfest 2 will keep evolving throughout Early Access, with fresh content and features rolling in regularly. Bugbear and THQ Nordic are all about making this a game for the players, shaped by the players. We want your feedback – tell us what you love, what you want more of, and what crazy ideas we absolutely need to implement. We’ve got a truckload of ideas (and an actual truck), but we want to hear which ones you like the most!

Now, a fair warning: don’t expect Wreckfest 2’s Early Access version to be as jam-packed with content as Wreckfest 1 after nearly a decade of updates, patches, and DLCs. This is just the beginning of an epic ride, and the game will grow with regular updates, guided by our living roadmap - powered by you.

To reflect this evolving journey, Wreckfest 2 is launching at an introductory SRP of $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99, with a 20% launch discount for the first two weeks (until April 3, 2025), making it an even sweeter deal. As development progresses and major updates roll out, the SRP will gradually increase until the full 1.0 release on PC and consoles.
