"We’re not going to grow the market with $1,000 consoles", Xbox boss Phil Spencer says, likely leaving the PS5 Pro pretty PSSRd off

In a chat that also featured him talking about handhelds for the many-th time this year, Xbox's Phil Spencer has had some thoughts on where the games industry's at in 2024. What's he said, you ask? Well, "We’re not going to grow the market with $1,000 consoles", a line that definitely doesn't seem like it might potentially be a bit of a cheeky jab at a certain rather expensive console that came out pretty recently.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.

Инсайдер: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle от Microsoft отправляется на PlayStation 5

В начале 2024 года пошли слухи о появлении эксклюзивов Xbox на других платформах, которые вскоре подтвердил Фил Спенсер. PlayStation 5 уже посетили такие тайтлы, как Hi-Fi RUSH, Grounded, Sea of Thieves и Pentiment. Однако это явно не конец, учитывая успех этих игр на консоли Sony.

Looks like Xbox is making Halo: Combat Evolved again, but this time it might also come to PS5

Another remaster of Halo: Combat Evolved looks to be in the works, and - close your eyes if you've attatched your happiness to a certain green brand in a rather unhealthy manner - could be in consideration for a release on PS5, in what would be a pretty noteworthy moment for a series that's long been considered one of Xbox's hallmark exclusives.

This is according to a report from The Verge's Tom Warren, who writes that this new Combat Evolved remaster is in the early stages of its development right now.

The report goes on to suggest that it's one of the games under consideration for a PS5 release as part of Microsoft's new strategy of actually bringing some of the titles it'd previously have held on to as exclusives to the consoles of direct competitors. You know, the likes of Nintendo and Sony. The internal name for this game plan, according to Warren, is "Project Latitude".

Summer Game Fest is streaming at 4K 60fps this year, and everyone is making the same joke

Good news, fans of Geoff Keighley's beautiful eyes. The Summer Game Fest stream on June 7 will run at 4K and 60fps this year, because gaming, baby. Though, the announcement of that has spawned a lot of chuckling, for reasons you can probably imagine.

"Our YouTube Livestream for #SummerGameFest will run live in 4K 60 fps this year," the Keighleyman tweeted last night, shouting out what seems to be being pushed as a big first for the show. Then came the sniggering. Why'd it come? Well, because of the fact that a lot of games that've come out on various different consoles recently have struggled to meet this same marks.

"This confirms no Nintendo Switch games at the event," industry analyst Daniel Ahmad joked in a quote tweet, adding: "To be fair though, if we apply the same logic, it also implies most PS5 and Xbox Series games won't be shown either lol."
