Friday Progress Report 420

[p]Wild Apple trees will be up today.[/p][p][/p][p]Apple trees are almost done, there is one more bug we need to fix before releasing.[/p][p]The new trees will spawn in old saves too, but it is more likely they will be in adult age if you start a new game. Apple trees take 3 seasons to grow (84 ingame days) and only fruit in adult stage.[/p][p]They will fruit during mid autumn, to harvest the apples use the sickle while aiming up, each apple is a singular entity that grows slowly until ripe, they will stay available for harvesting for about 2 weeks, make sure you harvest them before Autumn 21 or they will start despawning.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]You can save time and stamina by cutting the whole tree down to harvest all apples at once... at the cost of an entire apple tree, which will take 3 seasons to regrow, you CAN do it, but I wouldn't.[/p][p][/p][p]The update should come out by the end of the day.[/p][p][/p][p]Next up we will add the Wisdom Trees, an alchemically modified version of the apple tree that only exists inside Edengrall city, they will replace the placeholder birch trees inside the town, these trees will not spawn naturally and cannot be cut down, they will fruit during Spring and will be the focus of the Wisdom festival that will happen mid spring when we finally manage to add festivals.[/p][p][/p][p]After the special wisdom trees my brother will work on the final features of the Tree Update, the axe charged special (aoe tree cutting), tree sapplings and the ability to plant them and some other details, meanwhile I will follow the 52 step proccess (kill me) to add new trees, we have 11 more trees modeled and textured ready to be implemented.[/p]

[p]We went through the bug reports and released two new patches with the fixes, now that the game is more stable and optimized we can go back to adding content.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We will be adding the Apple tree next, as well as the Wisdom Trees with golden apples that grow inside Edengrall and will replace the birch trees.[/p][p][/p][p]Plenty things changed and the document we had detailing the step-by-step for adding trees will have new steps while some of the old ones were removed or replaced, once we have the whole proccess fully mapped I will be adding all the 12 fruit trees little by little in small updates.[/p][p][/p][p]After the fruit trees we will add the Lumberaxe special, the ability to collect and plant tree sapplings and a few more small details to finally finish the Tree Update.[/p][p][/p][p]Unless something goes really wrong the Apple Tree will be up by next Friday.[/p]

Improved the bend calculation for stone paths and stopped it from bending on extreme cases. Only affects newly placed objects
Fixed a Z-fighting issue with a wall and floor by adding a inperceptibly small offset to the wall. Only affects newly placed objects
Added another failsafe for an array out of bounds exception
Fixed a weird issue that made some plants unharvestable
Fixed critters detection outlines not drawing correctly.
Fixed a bug when using up all of an ingredient in cooking, and saving before finishing cooking would cause the utensil to break after loading.

Friday Progress Report 418

[p]A little detour in development that was supposed to take 3 days took 10 instead, we are sorry for delaying the fruit trees for this, but what is done is done.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The bamboo forest now has a dense fog that finally gives the spooky feel it was meant to have. The fog took extra time for two main reasons, my brother integrated the depth culling in the fog, so anything obscured by the fog will be culled (for performance) and the fog generation happens automatically in the bamboo forest biome, so we won't need to manually place it in the map.[/p][p][/p][p]There are a few bugs to fix still, we will release a new version with the fog and bugfixes before going back to finishing the Fruit Trees, after finishing the tree update we will work on the new crop perks.[/p]
