Dev Blog (Volunteer Update

I am currently in the process of working on the next major update for Into The Flames titled "Volunteer update". It will brings lots of new content, and mechanics to the game. I will give an exact release date for it when I narrow down when it will be finished.

New Vehicles :

More to be announced before release


Firehouse improvements :

- Normal doors
- Engine bay roll up doors
- Activities to do around fire house when you are not on calls


Other additions

- New emergency types

- Expanded variety to current emergencies

- New details to industrial area

- Bug fixes

- New ways to play, and interact with world


There is a new volunteer system coming to the game, and I will be releasing more information on it as we get closer to release.

Tanker Changes

- Raised Suspension to be closer to real life counterpart

Engine 2 Changes
- Slightly Raised Suspension

Other Changes

- Fixed being able to cut down tree with no tools(Forgot to re-enable it after testing)

Fire Changes
- Decreased Health of fire by 40 percent (Quicker to put out)
- Displays Steam when damaged
- Fixed Fire instantly disappearing when out

Equipment Changes

- Completely rewrote equipping item code
- Added 1 Sec cooldown on switching between Primary / Secondary Tools
- Grabbing a 2nd tool will automatically make it the main one equipped, and make your current tool the secondary
- Should eliminate some extra server stress, as well as get rid of replication bugs regarding equipping tools that occurred rarely.
- Flash light distance / width has been increased greatly
- Fixed fire helmet appearing underneath hazmat suit
- Players now keep equipment when using objects like ground monitor

Door Changes

- Fixed Door Glitching out when finishing forcing
- Reduced stress put on servers when not on use
- Fixed Animation not returning to normal when exiting door for clients
- Door now updates correct position open/close for clients

Garage Door Changes

- Fixed door not appearing in proper position for Clients
- Reduced stress put on servers when not on use
- Added new door cutting animation

Vent Zone Type A (Black Hole)

- Updated Replication code
- Fixed some replication issues

Vent Zone Type B (Cutable Rectangle Hole)

Tanker Changes
- Resized tanker

Rescue Changes

- Added Blue Lights in Walk in of the rescue

- Fixed Positioning of Water Gauge

General Changes

- Rotating light is now two red, and one white light
- Flashing red lights are now more red
- Fixed traffic lights affecting camera on resized trucks

Backend Changes

- Updated fire replication code when ignited
- Fixed Fire effect freezing
- Trees replicate properly now on Wildlands

Open world changes

- Resized cars in Rowhome area
- Fixed Miscolored roads / Darker roads (Rowhome Area)
- Fixed Floating fire in rowhomes
- Resized School buses
- Added Gas station details to industrial area
-Nighttime is brighter

- Added Purple lights/Black skin to rescue for Halloween

- Replaced unmarked roads in industrial area with marked ones


We are tuning the Manual siren to sound more close to it's real life counter part.
I will be resizing the Ladder truck next, and be working on more netcode optimizations. Next major update coming is the Volunteer update which I will start working on this week as well!


Build 2.8F (Rescue truck update)

2.8F (Default Branch)

Changes / Additions

Rotating Light added to Rescue
Rescue Resized
New light bar on rescue
Interior added to rescue (First person driving will come when all trucks get their interiors put in, models are already finished)
Walk in Rear added (Passenger cameras will be updated this week to reflect riding in the back)

Bug Fixes

Players can no longer push around the trucks
Dying on Rowhome fire resulting in spawning under map


I'm off all weekend starting Friday so expect a meaty update. Build is going back into the default branch, it will kick you over automatically if in testing branch. Handling is being adjusted on rescue as well, and will be updated this weekend

Test Build 2.8F

- Fixed Row Home Level Not Loading (Didn't include the files in the build)
- Manual Siren + Airhorn uses effects volume slider
- Adjusted values for manual siren
- Fixed Helicopter UI not showing up for clients
- Fixed 100 Commons Blvd not starting call correctly
- Added check on fire to hopefully fix car fire that activates when call is inactive
- Clients can now use airhorns, and Manual Siren




Another update with bug fixes, and additions will be coming tomorrow.





How to access test branch


- Load up steam and head to your library
- Right click on Into the Flames and then select "Properties"
- Head to the Beta tab and in the drop down select "testing" (no password needed)
- This will then download the new update for you
