May 28 (Fri) Update Details

Greetings, this is Shadow Arena.
Here are the updates made to Shadow Arena during the maintenance on May 28 (Fri).
* Patch Size: Approx. 69.37 MB
Check out the details below, and we will see you in the Arena!

[Dev Note]
Hello, this is Shadow Arena Dev Team.
Our plan for the Mastery system involved skill updates being released in a sequential fashion one at a time, but we apologize for confusing players by releasing the Mastery update without sharing this information sufficiently in advance.
Truthfully, we were too caught up in our desires to release the Mastery system as soon as possible. Not only did we have not enough time to create all the skills and test them, if we were to have released them all in one update, we were deeply concerned about the time constraints we would face when responding to balance issues and bugs.
That’s why our goal is to carefully update one part at a time while going through an internal testing and review process, so we could keep an eye on the real-time balance and pay close attention to our players’ feedback to continuously make further adjustments.
As a result, we have a set goal to update a single part of all hero skills approximately every 2 weeks, and at the same time, continue to update the quality of the Mastery system, including the character/content balance and enhancements. We look forward to hearing everyone’s continued feedback throughout this process.
[h3]■ Major Bug Fixes [/h3]
- Fixed an issue where the leaver penalty was being enforced.
[h3]■ Hero [/h3]
| Spear of Serendia (RMB)
- Increased the skill’s casting speed by 27%.
- Increased the explosion’s area of effect by 20%.
> (Before) 250 → (Now) 300
- Increased the maximum range by approximately 66%.
> (Before) 3000 → (After) 5000
- Increased the projectile hitbox by 33%.
- Increased the projectile speed by 50%.
- Changed the spear’s visual effect to a red color.
- Made improvements for an issue where the skill’s projectile sometimes did not properly register as a hit.
| Shield of Heidel (RMB)
- Fixed an issue where going back into guard stance while holding the shield after using the skill caused it to go into cooldown.
[Dev Note]
Although Spear of Serendia is available as a ranged Mastery skill, we felt that the skill felt quite underwhelming compared to Shield of Heidel. As a result, we’ve made some adjustments to make Spear of Serendia more attractive to use. These improvements not only entail buffs for effects, but even a visual change to make the skill feel more powerful.
| Bond Cut (RMB)
- Improved the skill to allow Yeonhwa to quickly dash in front of her target during the additional hit.
[Dev Note]
We improved the skill above to make it easier to land the additional hit without having to control Yeonhwa’s direction. This improvement should help for cases where it was really difficult to land the 2nd hit after successfully landing the 1st hit and where barely missing the 1st hit, caused the 2nd hit to be pretty much impossible to land.
| Resonating Shadow (RMB)
- Increased the maximum range by 37.5%.
> (Before) 1600 → (Now) 2200
[Dev Note]
Since Ahon’s range felt short, we improved her skill’s range to make it easier to use in actual combat.

| Kick
- Fixed an issue where only 10% of the Black Spirit’s Protection skill’s effect was being applied.
| Sausan's Tremble (RMB)
- Decreased the movement distance and jump height of the second and third jump.
| Gate Breaker (Q)
- Improved the skill to allow you to quickly combo to Sausan’s Tremble after the shoulder attack.
[Dev Note]
We’ve decreased the movement distance and jump height of Sausan’s Tremble to make it easier to land hits, and we improved Gate Breaker to allow you to quickly combo and keep an enemy knocked down.
| Thunder Rip (RMB)
- Added a Bleeding effect when the skill successfully lands.
- Fixed an issue where abnormal movement was possible when the skill was used from a high place.
- Fixed an issue where weapons would disappear during the skill.
| Mirage (E)
- Fixed an issue where the skill could be cancelled mid use when another skill was used.
| Ancient Dragon's Breath (RMB)
- Fixed the range stated in the skill description to match the skill’s actual range.
> (Before) 3000 → (Now) 5000
- Fixed a typo in the buff notification text that appears when attacked.

| Helix Cannon (RMB)
- Decreased the skill cooldown by 1 second.
- Increased the total damage by 20%.
- Increased the maximum range by approximately 66%.
> (Before) 3000 -> (Now) 5000
- Increased the skill’s casting speed by 50% when the enhancement buff from Golden Gate is active.
- Made improvements for an issue where the skill’s projectile sometimes did not properly register as a hit.
| Thunder Breaker (Q)
- Improved the skill to allow you to quickly combo to Helix Cannon after attacking.
| Sleeve Tangler (E)
- Improved the skill to allow you to quickly combo to Helix Cannon after attacking.
[Dev Note]
On top of improving the basic effect of Helix Cannon, we adjusted the skill make the effect Golden Gate has on the skill’s animation feel noticable.
| Patience Shield (RMB)
- Added a Super Armor effect when the skill is used.
- Decreased the camera motion blur effect when inflicting a debuff on an opponent.
- Fixed the value stated in the description of the DP reduction icon to match the actual value.
| Courage Stance – Radiant Pursuit (Q)
- Improved the skill to allow you to immediately turn and charge towards the direction the camera is facing.
| Courage Stance – Blades of Retribution (E)
- Change the total number of hits from 2 to 3. As a result, the total damage was changed as well.
> (Before) 580 → (Now) 770
[Dev Note]
Although we implemented changes to improve the usability and actual DPS of Blade of Retribution, we believe we did not fully understand the way players actually used the skill, and we apologize for that. Today’s patch reverts Blades of Retribution to its previous state.
| Third Blade (RMB)
- Changed the skill to make you dash forward 2m when used.
| Winter Petal (Q)
- Improved the skill to allow you to quickly combo to Third Blade (RMB) after attacking.
| Crimson Nether Flower (E)
- Added a 0.5-second knockdown effect when successfully landing the final hit.
- Decreased the total damage by 20%.
> (Before) 1080 → (Now) 864
- Decreased the total number of hits.
> (Before) 7 → (After) 5
| Nimbus Stride (R)
- Improved the skill to allow you to quickly combo to Third Blade (RMB) after attacking.
[Dev Note]
We greatly decreased the animation length of Crimson Nether Flower and added a CC effect to the final hit. Originally the skill was longer one, so its damage was set higher, but now that its length is shorter, we’ve adjusted the damage accordingly. Additionally, we added a slight dash to Third Blade to make it possible to combo with Nimbus Stride or Winter Petal and made changes to make it easier to start the battle with these skills.

| Rock Explosion (RMB)
- Improved the presentation of the rock effect.
- Made improvements for an issue where the skill would not hit when an enemy was close by.
- Fixed an issue where the rock was created too fast compared to the skill animation.
| Third Blade: Searing Flash (RMB)
- Decreased the skill’s damage by 29%.
> (Before) 916 → (Now) 710
- Added a Bleeding effect when the skill successfully lands.
[Dev Note]
Searing Flash’s damage was too high, so we’ve decreased it to a certain level and added a Bleeding effect to it.
- Fixed the skill video for Older Brother! (RMB) in the Mastery selection screen to display the correct video.
| Dark Shift
- Fixed an issue where the Black Spirit’s Protection skill’s effect was not being applied.
| Kick
- Fixed an issue where only 10% of the Black Spirit’s Protection skill’s effect was being applied.
- Fixed an issue where rolling backwards did not cause boss monsters to be inflicted by the Nimble Maneuver effect.
| Shadow Bullet
- Fixed an issue where a Stiffness effect was applied to Hexe Marie after using Shadow Bullet.
- Changed the skill allow you to keep sprinting if the skill was used while sprinting.
- Fixed an issue where you could not turn directions while using the skill.
[Dev Note]
The balance adjustments and bug fixes were mainly focused on heroes whose basic inherent skills had comparatively low usage. We believe there’s a lot of shortcomings since it has only been a day since Mastery was introduced. As we mentioned before, we will continue to pay close attention to Mastery and make improvements.

Thank you.
