Patch - v1.0g

Bugs
  • Fixed a crash that could occur if a steam cloud save was corrupt.
  • Fixed an issue with dragonflies appearing on the wrong screens if the player moved between rooms during the dragonfly’s animation. Dragonflies also now instantly reset if the room they spawn in is reset.
  • Fixed an issue where the player could sometimes move briefly after an object left a river.
  • Stone elementals now properly break metal blocks (bomb blocks).
  • Fixed an issue with stone elementals riding multiple tornados in a row.
  • The file select screen now displays worn items correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where a hidden crystal could remain invisible after being revealed.
  • Attempted a fix at screen flickering in windowed mode for streamers.
  • Snake Eyes now properly display in Raging Volcano C4.
  • Fixed several problems with legendary items display and animation during certain cinematics.
  • Fixed some collision / tile errors.
System
  • Testing new Steam cloud save code which better checks file integrity.
  • After cutscenes in the Sanctum, the player can now reset the room and return to their original spawn point.
  • Removed a handful of redundant game save calls.
  • Testing unlocked window proportions in windowed mode.
Gameplay
  • Added a portal exit for the player to the upper right area of Sanctum C0.
  • Removed the dead end secret path from Raging Volcano E1 - E0.
Art
  • Art for water elemental copies of metal blocks (bomb blocks) has been added.
  • Added an Eye of Horus to a couple spots where it was missing.

What's Next? - Upcoming Features and Changes

Currently I'm working on a few important features and changes for the game's first major update. I think this update will greatly improve quality of life as well as making the late game a much more fun and smooth experience.

Here's a preview of two things in the works:

Exit Island Feature
You will be able to exit any island from where you entered, using the pause menu. No more hassle of backtracking / navigating through areas of an island that you do not want to revisit.




Albatross Rework
In addition to some other tweaks to the Frozen Spire in an attempt to smooth out its rough edges and bring it more inline with the rest of the game, the albatross network will be reworked as most people rightfully find it extremely frustrating. Currently exploring and navigating the map is tedious and unrewarding. The new version will reward players for exploring, and make travel easier as they discover more of the map.

**Recent Hotfixes**

May 31
  • Fixed an issue where the player could sometimes move during the sanctum cutscenes.
  • Fixed an issue affecting some save files where the stone in the sanctum would not become passable after completing the required quest.
  • Fixed a softlock that could occur under certain conditions when a player controlled air elemental died.
  • Fixed an issue with shadow twins using water elementals.
  • Shadow twins now correctly only push in the direction that the player does.


June 1
  • Fixed several issues with Stone Elementals interacting with rivers and air elementals.
  • Created a check for older copied files with damaged egg maps. If you had an older copied file in which one or more egg was not appearing in the indicated room, they should be present there now.
  • Fixed an issue where the Sanctum Stone became destructible early for some players. If your save file was affected by this, the stone will have corrected damage / respawn if the quest was not complete.


June 2
  • Fixed a soft lock that could occur in several situations where a stone elemental was pushed into an air elemental that was facing a solid one tile away.
  • Fixed some inconsistencies with stone elementals interacting with lava. Stone elementals should now properly enter an air elemental's tornado that is above lava instead of being destroyed.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur if an air elemental controlled by the player left the screen.
  • Added stairs and an arrow block to Tropic B0 for players that solve the puzzle in A0 without the obsidian rune, so that the puzzle does not need to be solved again when they return.

Bugs
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when attempting to load language options on the options screen.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur sometimes when controlling an air elemental.
  • Fixed some issues with copying files.
  • Fixed an issue with using undo after taking an albatross flight.
  • Fixed a bug where entering a god room portal and then hitting undo and exiting the game could get the player stuck.
  • Fixed several issues with air elementals that could cause softlocks or caused them to ruthlessly murder the player and vandalize boxes for no good reason.
  • When controlling air elementals, player control is no longer returned until control of all elementals ends.
  • Fixed an issue where shadow twins would become lazy and stop pushing.
  • Fixed an issue where shadow twins could activate an air elemental that was against a solid.
  • Fixed a problem where the player would become offset after exiting a river under certain conditions.
  • River loops trigger infinite loop prevention now.
  • Steam Screenshots are now working in some places that they weren't previously, such as during cutscenes and the end game credits.
  • Fixed a softlock when pushing fire elementals through portals.
  • Elementals no longer show the wrong sprite when being pushed by a fireball.
  • Minor tile / collision fixes.
System
  • The save file health check system has been further improved.
  • Keyboard Key for newsletter changed to N.
Gameplay
  • The god portals back to Ancient Island no longer instantly teleport the player: The player must stand on the portal for a few moments before being teleported.
  • Frozen Spire E2: NE path changed to require only the Air Rune (as opposed to unlocking with air elementals. Buttons swapped (the star and the NE key puzzles have been swapped).
