June Content Update: Pets, Boss Weapons, Fixes.

Hewwo OwO, meaty meat meatsky wanted to tell you something.

The main branch is updated, here's what you can expect.

What's new:

* New weapon: Castle's Sword
* New weapon: Meall's Legs
* THE GUT POLICE DEPARTMENT, OPEN UP! Meat Cop will visit those who will try to outsmart the Gut by killing keyholder NPCs nondirectly.
* New item: Siamese Ravens
* New item effect: Paralysis. Throw to stun enemies, or eat (accidentaly) to slow yourself down.
* New Memento: Zinger. Full HP on start of each floor
* New Memento: Mr. Delicious. Your weapons heal themselves while eating your meat
* New Memento: Infected Meat. Chance to inflict your status effect on your weapon in the process of self harm. Don't try that at home
* New Memento: Mimic Pet. What will he become when he grows up - a plant, a computer, or an ottoman?
* New Memento: Pet Eye Taker. You always wanted to see more friendly eyes
* New Memento: Legs Pet. You'll need another pair of shoes. No other jacket tho
* New Memento: Fish Pet. You always wanted a swimming buddy
* You can see your pet's HP. Be sure to heal them sometimes!
* New Memento: Hypochondriac. What if you'll explode at the slightest touch???
* New Memento: I see them. Mimics can't hide while moving
* Fixed bug that sometimes didn't count direct kills
* Fixed bug that cause the lost of your weapon's effect on the new floor
* Thrown healing item now will heal multiple units nearby (threshold distance is ~ 3 tiles)
* Milk memento now lets you see unit's HP 👀
* Cult Leaders are now shown on maps
* No more double mementos
* SIlent steps memento will now actually silent the sound of your steps
* Meat hole will not be just floating in the air after you destroying the wall where hole was placed
* Feedback on what bosses you killed and have you been hated by the Gut for the Murderer ending in the journal

MEAT ROYALE IS LIVE!

[h2]The Gut has spoken and it wants MEAT.[/h2]

Specifically yours and of your meat bros that is! After lots of blood and sweat, trial and error we're finally glad to present to you: MEAT ROYALE - a 10 player battle royale-like deathmatch mode for you and your friends. (As well as 7 days of 25% discount starting today!)

What's new:

  • MEAT ROYALE: This is a new gamemode that you can access from Multiplayer button in the main menu. Simply press Find lobby or Create one and wait for someone/your friends to join, then interact with a door if you feel like starting the match. (Only host can start the match).

    In this mode you'll spawn in a random point of a random level and have to find your equipment to slay the meatbros and take their keys to open the elevator and retrieve the Meat Crown. With time the level floor will start to burn leading you closer and closer to an exit elevator.

    Our meat royale is a bit more fair to you, so if you die quickly - don't be afraid, you'll respawn in short amount of time somewhere where fire haven't spread yet. Use your second (or third, hehe) chance to outsmart your foes and take the crown.

    More work on this mode will be done, thanks to your feedback and suggestions. (and bugfixing).



  • Co-op player expansion: Maximum amount of players for Co-op is expanded to 10, try it out with your pals. (At your own risk C:
  • MEAT MARKET: Of course it's not a battle royale without cosmetics, isn't it. In our own fashion we've added a Meat Market that you can access to buy different "head props/hats/cosmetics" with Meat Crowns for your meat bro. Make sure to pick the right one, as these props will be the only thing other players see when you crouch. Camouflage yourself!



  • New NPC: New players may find it really difficult to get into Golden Light, this is why we've worked with our community to create a sorta "Hint NPC". Find MEATPHONE in the field and talk to him for useful information, he's a nasty bastard but he's always glad to help you out.
  • The Reds Renovation: We've started to update our visuals for The Reds biome a bit and you can notice that in this update. It just missed some artsy vibes! Big thanks to our community that worked with us on some of the elements, hope you'll like what we've come up with (and will come up with in the nearest future).   • Ambient Occlusion: Ah-ha! It's there and it makes the game look a bit fancier.



  • Optimization work and bugfixes: More optimization for The Eternal Field as well as lots of Co-op and Singleplayer fixes.

Golden Light Meat Royale Multiplayer Game Mode is slowly crawling to you.

Hey everyone!
Let's break the silence a bit and talk about what's been cooking, yeh?

In the recent weeks we've been busy with a new deathmatch/meat (battle, hehe) royale game mode for Golden Light and you can see a sneak peek in the video above. In this gamemode for 10 people you'll spawn at random position of the floor and as with most battle royale games/gamemodes start searching for weapons and items. Each player spawns with a key of it's own and the goal of each floor is to be the first to open the elevator, either by waiting for the right moment or killing your opponents and taking their keys. When the elevator is opened - be first to grab the Meat Crown - a newly added item specifically for this gamemode.


If you're lucky (or skilled, hehe) and collect enough crowns - you'll be able to buy new "head props" for your Meat Bro in the main menu, which will be available both in Meat Royale and Co-op. In Meat Royale however, it's not only a cosmetic item and may play a crucial role in your hiding skills, since while crouched this prop will represent yourself. Think wise about using a vending machine as your head.

Of course, while Meat Royale will be the central point of our next update - it won't be the only one.

Recently we've held a character design contest on our discord for a "Hint NPC" that will tell you tips and tricks for GL and help newcomers to flow into our mad world. Thanks to a very talented @noumuuu now we'll have a neat phone booth to tell the story and help poor souls that were lost in the eternal field.

There's also a lot of rebalancing and optimization work going on, as well as plans to "review" enviroment decorations for one of our biomes. If you want to participate - right now we run another discord contest to make the Reds biome a bit more artsy, join the discord for more information.

CHOOSE YOUR END Update: Endings, New Biome, New Mechanics and more

[h2]What's new:[/h2]

  • Endings: The game finally features an ending in a traditional sense, and not 1 but 4 depending on your playstyle: Normal Ending, Pacifist Ending, Genocide Ending and a Secret one. Alongside with achievements for Meat War and Meat Zone difficulties.

  • New Biome - The Insides: True nature of the Gut is present in this one. Navigate through narrow fleshy hallways filled with dangerous meat and use skills you've learned on the way to meet your goal. (Of course it features a new enemy and Boss of the area).

  • New Boss Weapon: Gut Divers will drop something fitting to their self. Use it wisely, you don't want to set the whole Gut on fire.

  • New Mechanic - Golden Ember: Now on each boss floor you can find a "Golden Amber", a syringe with golden liquid that lets you lock one of the mementos you got which won't drop from your inventory upon death. (Mind that Golden Ember is abscent on Meat Zone difficulty)

  • Reassembled Difficulties: The game once again features 3 difficulties.
    1. Meat Garden: An appropriate difficulty for newcomers and those who simply want to get through the game and experience it without wasting too much time. Achievements are disabled in this one.
    2. Meat War: "Normal Difficulty", previous Sticky Meat.
    3. Meat Zone: Originally intended horror roguelike experience with permadeath, narrowed vision (flashlight lighting instead of radial player light), stronger enemies.


  • New mechanic: Thrown notes and weapons (which yes, you can now throw) will make a sound on impact and alert nearby enemies.

  • New Mementos: Deadly Throw and Furious Reader. First one lets you deal damage with thrown notes and weapons, second makes it so you get random effects for each and every note you read (also this one powers up notes in various ways).

  • Locked Doors are working as intended? Now if you break the door's handle it won't be locked anymore, no need to destroy the whole thing!

  • I don't want to hear my heartbeat! You can now disable your heartbeat and breathing noises in the settings.

  • Our friends are alive as ever: Glutton, Lloyd, Crown and Juke should fight back now. (Or run away hehe)

  • French Language is added: WIP, but it works! (As well as some fixes for other languages).

  • Lottafixes: A lot of minor and not so minor bugfixes. (Multiplayer should be more stable, She's bodyparts won't longer fly out of the elevator, some gamebreaking different languages bugfixes, etc)

  • SOUNDTRACK: We finally released the soundtrack so be sure to check it out!
