Devlog 42: What’s to come in the 1.2 and 1.3 update!

We’ve been hard at work developing the future content for Roots of Pacha and have devised a plan so that we can get you what was promised as soon as possible. Since all the content we want to add takes time to design, develop, and test, we’ve divided it into two juicy updates. The 1.2 update and the even bigger 1.3 update. With the 1.2 update arriving in early Q3 (in about 4 months).

What the 1.2 update will include:
Xbox
This update will accompany the game’s release on Xbox. Xbox players will be able to enjoy the update and play in co-op with friends across platforms!
Kids
Pachans love their children, and so do we. So we wanted to make sure having them felt like a meaningful addition to the experience. As before, you’ll be able to have two children, but once you build a school, you can send your toddler to school, and they’ll grow into a child. That child will have a set of dialogues and schedules to interact with you and the clan. With your gentle guidance, they’ll start to have their own interests in what they want to apprentice.
Kids’ Learning Station
The clan’s kids have always helped their parents. But with the addition of school, kids learn about animals and agriculture by helping with an area of the farm. You’ll get help with the farm, and the kids get hands-on experience!
Union locations
With so many beautiful places near the land, you’ll be able to select a location that perfectly fits you and your new partner.
Fishing Game UI
In the update, each biome will have a unique look to its fishing mini-game.
Pets
Animals have helped humanity throughout time, and soon, our pets will as well. You’ll be able to assign them to gather things for you. A cave lion might bring back meat, while a bunny might bring back produce.

Wolf pups and cave lion cubs have been warming themselves by our hearths for quite some time, and these two will grow into their adult versions if fed the right thing. Otherwise, these cute babies will stay as they are.
Early Watering system
Watering crops can be time-consuming, so the clan will have an idea for a more localized version of irrigation earlier in the game. This should help free up players to explore and do more in their Stone Age day.
More Dance Songs
You’ve already been able to dance with your Pachan friends, but with the update, you’ll hear a few different songs when you boogie with your buddies.
OST update
Roots of Pacha is filled with music, and soon, more of those songs will be added to the OST!
And more!
There’s more we are working on, including QoL updates like saving at any point. It’s a feature that’s been requested a number of times as a way to make the game even more accessible.

What’s to come in the 1.3 update:

The team has been working on this update, and its large size is why we’ve decided to organize our work so that some of the remaining Kickstarter updates can be enjoyed sooner. Since these systems are all interconnected, they need to be developed in tandem and over a longer period of time.

What’s to come:
 • 4 romanceable characters
 • 18 non-romanceable characters (you can spot two in the union scenes above)
 • 2 new biomes with 4 subregions each
 • 1 new cave system with iron and other materials
 • Tent sleeping and unlockable homes in other regions
 • 2 new festivals with a ball sport mini-game
 • 4 new animals
 • 6 evolved animals
 • New plant variations
 • New line fishing mini-game
 • An unlockable place to play music in the Islands
 • An unlockable mini-game in the Tundra
 • Hangout spots
 • Many new cutscenes
 • Quests

As you can see, we’re developing quite a bit, and this isn’t even everything! For example, we know we will be making more decorations and introducing the promised time traveler. It’s a lot, but we’re confident that at the rate we are developing, we’ll be able to add meaningful content to the game that will be worth the wait.

You rock!
