Imagination Class #1

So you got a great vision of what you want to do but you can't realise it with texture brushes? No problem!

Shadowforge can help you with that. Draw in pixels with the Draw Tiled feature. It's easy to form something out of pixels, and Shadowforge lets you tile them together however big the pixels are. 64x64? Sure! Maybe you can make a face out of it. Well, I did that.

I made a panda face from pixels with bamboo trees in the background and a wooden house that can not be seen because the focus is on the pandas face.

Here is the pixelized version (took me only 5 mins or so):

Then I cartoonized it by not blocking the colors and actually making it cel shaded with simple circle brushes. I wanted the panda to crave for something, and he is making that face when he thinks someone doesn't understand his needs.

FInally, I used the leaf brush and the alpha brush together to give him some textures to make it look less cartoony but, but still somewhat cartoony.

It should be apparent that the panda has fur, and is not a gummy bear.

Here is the final result of about 15 mins of drawing:

QoL update

Now on the docker's animation row a text is displayed showing each of your animation frames size. Furthermore, when you choose your canvas size it will resize all 100 layers.

Restart on the right menu will destroy your linked layers that you have copied (they are shadowed on the layer menu). If you want to keep one of the linked layers, then merge it with another layer by pressing on the middle mouse button.

Moving layers replaced with copying layers

When you right click on a layer to another layer, it will no longer move it there. It will instead copy itself and you can draw on all copied layers simultaneously. This is good for animating, when you want to tween an animation.

Shadowforge 4.2

The layers are restricted to 100 (I can raise it, but I don't think you will use that many layers). You can move to another layer up to 100 with the arrow keys, but this update is about the layer inspector. The layer inspector now has another page of layers.

There is also a new big icon when you press Ctrl + E (the docker). Pressing it will put all your animation frames on each layer. If you don't need to customize your animation frames on the layers and just need to move all the frames on the layers at once, then this is great for you.

Freelancing much? Attending an art jam?

You can now reset the time played timer on the Save/Load project menus.

Something I forgot to mention in a patch note earlier:

When drawing at or below 256x256 canvas size, the mini canvas will not be mathematically divided.
