Patch 3.0.4

Global
Majors
• Fixed an issue where some players who had previously played a randomized game of Myst prior to the Rime update were seeing a puzzle on Myst Island become unsolvable, preventing those players from reaching Rime.
 • Steam only: Fixed new Rime achievements not working.
Minors
• Minor mesh and lighting fixes implemented.
 • Fixed a typo in Sirrus’s Journal in Rime.
 • Fixed some interaction issues with the miniature lens toy in Rime.
 • (SPOILER) Updated miniature lens toy model to have the same number of notches as the imager device.
 • Adjusted the lab ruler model and textures in Rime so the "1" is in the right spot.
 • Added an elevator region for the buttons in Rime.
 • Fixed an issue with the aurora in Rime initializing to the wrong color under certain circumstances.
 • Fixed some issues with the blank book in Rime causing incorrect behavior.
Quest only

We are writing the Quest-specific patch notes here as we recognize some standalone Quest users come to Steam to look at patch notes instead of through the Meta Horizon app. There is a fairly major save game fix that was a part of this patch (for Quest standalone only) and wanted to communicate it here as well. Again, please note that these changes are not for issues that occurred on Windows or Mac, or in PC VR.

 • Fixed some lenses in an area of Rime not displaying colors properly.
 • Fixed save games from older patches on Quest not copying over to new builds. If you had already made new saves in the latest version of Myst on Quest standalone, you will be prompted with a choice to convert your old saves to new ones. If you did not already make new saves in the latest version of Myst, your old saves will automatically be brought over and converted without prompt.

32 years later, PC icon Myst finally feels complete thanks to a big new update

1993 was a transformative year for PC gaming. First came Syndicate, the superb strategy game from Populous creator Bullfrog. There was also a controversial and technically experimental FPS called Doom - launched in the December, it's hard to name a more influential shooter in the history of gaming. But Myst was something truly different. While mechanically it stood on the shoulders of the point-and-click pioneers built by Sierra, it was driven more by aesthetics, atmosphere, and tone. Even today, 32 years later, you can identify Myst by a single image. It's been re-launched, remastered, remade, and expanded, but now, thanks to a big new update from developer Cyan, Myst feels like it is finally whole.

The Age of Rime has been added to Myst!

Hey all,

You’ve been asking, and we’ve been listening.

We’re happy to announce that this major content update and quality of life patch of Myst introduces the Age of Rime. This new Age offers additional content for players following the successful completion of the story of Myst. Once completing your game or loading a completed game, a new journey awaits you somewhere on Myst Island.

Some fans may know that Rime was previously a part of realMyst and realMyst: Masterpiece Edition. This reimagining of Rime will bring fresh discoveries to new and old players alike.

The Age of Rime introduces players to the snowy, mountainous seascape that Atrus and his family would visit in years past, before the events of Myst and Riven upended their lives. Sweeping vistas, beautiful ice structures, and fantastical natural phenomena await new visitors. This breathtaking new Age also houses a detailed laboratory space where bold experiments were made, delving into the mysterious nature of Linking Books themselves. This new version of Rime includes all-new narrative beats, new lore, and new sights to behold.

We hope to bring this patch to as many currently supported platforms for Myst as possible, so hang tight while we get that sorted.

Thanks, and enjoy.
