Days Gone PC system requirements are now available on Steam

We recently learned that the PlayStation exclusive open-world zombie game Days Gone would be coming to PC, and sure enough, now it has its very own official Steam page, complete with PC system requirements. While the Steam page doesn't shed any new light on when exactly Days Gone will arrive on PC, we do have a set of minimum and recommended system requirements to review.

Days Gone is a good-looking game, and it features some impressively dense zombie hordes. However, it doesn't look as though it's going to tax any modern gaming PC - the recommended specs call for an Intel Core i7-4770K or a Ryzen 5 1500, paired with either a GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580.

The Steam page also hints at some new PC-specific features that will be available in the Steam version of Days Gone, including ultra-wide monitor support, unlocked framerates, and graphical improvements like increased detail and draw distances. Days Gone uses the Unreal Engine 4, so it should feel right at home on PC when it arrives this spring.

This 15 minutes of Days Gone footage told me all I needed to know

For a while, it seemed like all Sony was interested in making were games about bearded men trying to survive the end of the world. Days Gone is very much one of those games. You are a man, with a beard, and society has collapsed. There are zombies and lots of broken things to break and make into other things. The proof is in the footage below.

Days Gone PC won't have DLSS or ray tracing

We're coming up on the Days Gone PC release date, and developer Bend Studio has revealed that the open-world game won't be utilising ray tracing, or Nvidia's DLSS technology.

In a pre-launch FAQ posted on the site, for both DLSS and ray tracing, the answer is simply that Days Gone does not support either. For ray tracing, a method of rendering light that produces greater contrasts and fidelity, the response is definitive. However, for DLSS, there's a caveat of "at this time", suggesting the tech might be implemented in the future. Deep Learning Super Sampling from Nvidia helps upscale and improve textures in real-time, making everything run smoother in the process.

The likes of Call of Duty: Warzone and Nioh 2 use DLSS, and had it added post-launch, and it sounds like Days Gone may follow suit. The PC version will have many of other standardised options, like an FOV slider, and a robust menu of display customisations, including foliage, shadow draw distance, and more. You can rebind every action on keyboard and mouse, and you can use almost any controller you might have lying around, from the DualShock 4 to the Nintendo Switch Pro.
