Britannic: Patroness of the Mediterranean News

Build 1.1.1 Live

EDIT: Some last tweaks from a few more bugs people have found are being fixed and a 1.1.2 build is going live.

This update will be one of the last for a while, it fixes a number of things found in build 1.1.0.

Standard:

Missing Lights In Exterior Tour: People found a number of lights and random things that did not switch over properly during the day/night levels.

Info Box's: A few glitches were found in the new info box's, all ones reported were fixed.

Menu Problems: The Main and in game menu's where you can switch to the new exterior levels were swapped.

The new FOV fix also introduced a new problem were each time if you went into the options, it reset it to 50. This has been fixed, though the slider bar will reset if you leave the options and come back. It wont automatically force the change if you simply enter the options menu anymore, but the slider will not reflect the change you made, even though it is actually working. This issue is still being worked on though in all honesty, this will probably be fixed in a re haul in the menu down the road as the current one has alot of problems and a better one will be found at a later point in time.

In Game Level Trigger's: A few of the in game level triggers had some problems, this has been fixed as well as a few more added to cabins.

VR:

Jump Feature: This has now been put into the exterior tour mode for ease of use. The info box toggle button has also been moved to the left controller face button.

Glossy Tiles: A few people have expressed feedback on the GSC Tiles in this version, that they are very sparkly and white near windows.

Since VR requires graphics and settings to be lowered to ensure performance, this can cause graphical artifacts to appear that dont appear in the standard version. Since shadows and AA are toned down, this causes the light from the windows to be very bright on the tile. The tile shine and other effects have been removed to fix this problem.

Turning: To make it a little easier, the turning in VR has been changed again to 10 degrees to allow more flexibility.

Also as a reminder, you can in the main menu level of VR hit F11 to toggle a windowed mode, allowing you to hide the HMD mirror to save a few frames if desired.

Mac users will be getting this version of the game and should be live in a day or two.

Thanks everyone for the feedback and keep up the good work on keeping Britannic's memory alive and her story popular to ensure future work is done on the wreck!

Build 1.1.0 Live

EDIT: Some small things have already been found, a quick update will happen tomorrow to correct this.

This update will be the last major update for a while as we take a little break, this update should help address previous feedback/bugs to the best of our ability at this time.

Standard:

1) 3D models & Textures changed: Due to further historical work, some minor changes have occurred both in the exterior and in the inside to better reflect some new stuff found post launch or model problems discovered by our players.

2) GSC Optimization: Some further changes and tweaks done to the RMS GSC that should help a little in boosting performance with some more level streaming and other small changes.

3) Interior Level Changing: While currently you cannot effortlessly go from space to space as that would require us to model the connecting parts and many of these spaces are uniquely Britannic and cant be copy/pasted from Titanic. However due to the huge amount of feedback from players to streamline this even a little bit, in the pause menu during interior exploration you can now select the interior locations, thus eliminating the need to always go to the main menu to switch locations.

Select doors in the exterior tour mode and in the two GSC maps also have the ability to hit a trigger so you can go to a set location when appropriate. This feature is not in the VR version due to some issues.

4) Day/Night Cycle: In order to clean up the menus a little and also give our player's a unlimited amount of different angle and lighting shots. The exterior tour modes for both exploration and free camera mode now have a fully operational day/night cycle, complete with lights turning off and on. This eliminates the need to have separate maps and also allows some very nice sunset and sunrise shots. The shift between the two is 10 minutes each (10 Minutes for day time, and 10 minutes for night)

This and point #3 will be also listed in the main menu for a short time in case people dont read this announcement.

5) FOV, Music and Sensitivity Sliders: A annoying bug in the previous versions was all three of these would either reset upon opening a new level or simply not work. The Music and SFX sliders now keep the desired setting for the entire game as does the FOV Slider. The Vertical and Horizontal sliders still have a few issues, they do work but only when you are in a game mode and change the desired , and it will stick for that level. This will be continued to be worked on in the future.

6) Missing animations in the Free Camera Sinking: The telegraph handles in this mode did not move during the sinking, this has been fixed. There are also a few lifeboat crank animations that are broken, these will be fixed in a future update.

7) Missing Collision: Some people have reported some missing wall collision in select interior spaces, this has been corrected.

8) More info box's added to the exterior levels!

VR:

1) The above mentioned day and night cycle has replaced the 4 exterior levels.

2) Some further optimization in the GSC: Nothing big but each bit helps it slightly.

3) Fixed Collision on the well deck: Some people reported problems getting out of the well deck, this has been fixed.

4) In case some people missed it last time, a jump mechanic has been added to the VR version to make it easier to go around the sinking.

Mac:

The above mentioned updates will be coming to Mac users after the weekend, this will include the RMS exterior levels, this was not put into the Mac build due to the last minute nature of getting it in before launch. A announcement will be made regarding this update going live.

We thank everyone here for the continued support and all the feedback said in the reviews. We are trying to implement as much as we can into the game now and for future projects to give you the best experience and improve the enjoyment factor.

Keep finding those bugs and have a wonderful day!

Build 1.0.95 Live

A number of big changes.

Standard:

1) More optimization has been done to the GSC levels, level streaming has been introduced that should help the most in RMS GSC, though a bit has been added to HMHS GSC. The Playroom was going to be also streamed to help with performance but in its current state it was too long of a load period, this area will be level streamed in next update. Even without that, this should help people with lower end systems as now some major chunks of the staircase is not loaded all the time when on anything but A deck.

Let us know if this helps anyone at all.

2) Some more Texture, material and bugs have been fixed that have been found by players in the past few days.

3) Some material and furniture changes to reflect some historical details & photos.

4) At the request of players, the load times with the text has been shortened to make it less annoying to go from space to space.

VR:

1) The above mentioned updates, including GSC level streaming, This should help with performance in VR, particular in the RMS GSC level.

2) Further optimization changes and engine tweaking should help with performance even more.

3) Pressing F11 at the main menu will now let you toggle the HMD mirroring, allowing you to make it smaller or hide it all together to make performance increase even more.

4) At the feedback of players, the turn angle for VR has been changed to 15 degrees to make it more flexible to turn without having to rotate your body more.

5) At the request of alot of people, a jumping feature has been added to the sinking levels, allowing you to more easily roam parts of the ship or lifeboats during the sinking.

Planned Updates/Features

1) The Music, SFX & Toggle features in the options menu in the standard version are not saving after leaving a level, and reset. This is being looked into and will hopefully be in the next wave of updates.

2) It has been requested for a walk/run toggle much like in Demo 3, and also to have a crouch option to make it easier to go up some stairs during the sinking. Both features are being looked into being added.

3) More level streaming in the GSC will hopefully be added to help improve performance of it more for lower end computers.

Please let us know if any of the current updates made any difference for both VR and Standard in terms of performance.

Build 1.0.93 Live

Standard:

Invisible wall appearing in the sinking free camera mode has been fixed.

Gap in Scotland road door has been fixed.

Texture and material changes.

Wonky starboard RMS Exterior gate has been fixed.

FOV limit has been increased (though it saving for the all levels has not yet been fixed)

VR:

Previous updates applied.

After feedback, the VR system has been altered until a more permanent solution can be found. Speed of player has been increased and full 360 locomotion has been added to the left thumbstick. In order to help with motion sickness, the right thumbstick now turns in intervals instead of a smooth motion.

Anti Aliasing has been changed to a different one to help eliminate artifacts appearing, while no FPS drop was found in testing, changing this could have a impact. Let us know if this is the case.

A number of changes have been done to FPS settings and some graphic settings to help with performance in VR. A change for the better was noticed on our end, let us know if any meaningful improvements were noticed for others.

Mac and more updates to come in the following days.

Game Crashing After Changing Fullscreen Option

Shortly after launch a bug was found when someone went to change the fullscreen option, it would crash the game and then cause the game to crash when attempting to re-launch.

While a update came out for it, some people may still have the game crash on launch. The reason for this is that the graphic settings are stored locally on the computer and it remembers the last settings that was chosen.

To reset the settings and fix the game, the following solution has helped a number of People.

1. Go to your C: Drive, then the "Users" folder, then the user folder that is currently logged into the computer.

2. in the windows file explorer address bar, type \appdata at the end of the current location and then go into the local folder. The full address should look something like this. "C:\Users\user\AppData\Local" (\user\ is the name of the user logged in)

3. Once in the local folder, find the Britannic folder and delete it, boot the game up and it should reset the graphic options and let you play and change settings again.
