Update 0.19.0 - Steam Trading Cards & Controller Profiles

  • New Features
    • Steam Community Items
      • Steam Community Items have been added to The Conquest of Go, which include 6 trading cards, 5 profile backgrounds, 6 emoticons, and 6 badges.
    • Steam Input Controller Profiles
      • Using Steam's Input system, recommended controller profiles have been added to support playing the game with a controller.
      • As of now, there are profiles for Playstation (PS3, PS4) and Xbox (Xbox 360, Xbox One), but if you're using a different controller, it should try to convert an existing profile to your controller type.
      • The default controls are as follows:
        • Joysticks for mouse movement
        • X/A - Left Click
        • O/B - Right Click
        • Start - Pause Menu
        • Select - Open keyboard overlay if in Steam Big Picture mode
        • D-Pad Up - Previous Move
        • D-Pad Down - Next Move
        • D-Pad Left - Previous Batch of Moves (~10)
        • D-Pad Right - Next Batch of Moves (~10)
        • Left Bumper - Previous Comment
        • Right Bumper - Next Comment
        • Left Trigger - Previous Moves (play in reverse until first move)
        • Right Trigger - Next Moves (play moves until end)
      • To use Steam's input system and enable your controller, or setup your own profile, you can follow the directions on Steam's Official Documentation.
      • Please note that if you've made modifications to the default keyboard controls found in the in-game settings (Settings > Playeback Settings) you'll need to modify the controller profile accordingly to match the same keyboard controls.
    • Random Board Theme
      • A new theme setting of "random" has been added which will load a random board theme from the seven available themes each time the Go board is loaded.
      • This setting can be found in Settings > Board Settings > Preferred Theme.
      • As with the other themes, players can make this appear in the campaign by clicking the "Override Campaign Theme" toggle found in the same settings menu.
  • Fixes
    • Fixed an issue with AI reviews where the player's last move of the match was unintentionally being reported as a mistake under some circumstances.
    • Fixed an issue where while reviewing a match, if it ended by resignation and the Estimate Score button was used to calculate the score and display territory at the end of the match, it was previously not redisplaying the estimated territory if moves were undone and the match reached the end once again.
    • Fixed an issue where the Estimate Score button was remaining enabled after reaching the end of the match and undoing moves.
    • Fixed an issue for Steam Workshop Items of Match type, where the score estimator was being triggered automatically for matches ending in resignation if the result was in the format "B+Resign" instead of "B+R".

Patch 0.18.2

  • Fixed an issue with the rematch function of quick play causing the score estimator to not work properly after the first match.
  • Fixed an issue with the toon and traditional board themes which was not fully showing the move analysis marker for a passing move.
  • Changed the Russian translation of beginner and novice difficulties to be different.

Patch 0.18.1

An update to the live version of the Online Go Server (OGS) was made this afternoon which enabled rengo matches. This patch updates The Conquest of Go to no longer display rengo matches and challenges coming from OGS, as The Conquest of Go does not have the features in place to fully support rengo matches at this time. Support for rengo within The Conquest of Go will be evaluated in the future as rengo becomes more mature and finalized on OGS.

Update 0.18.0 - New Board Theme, Review Updates, & KataGo Upgrade

  • New Features
    • A new stylized "toon" board theme has been added. It can be found by clicking the "next board theme" icon in the Go board scene, or by setting it as the default board theme within the Board Settings menu.
    • Next Move Markers
      • During match reviews, tutorials, and workshop items, the move(s) taking place after the move that was just played will be highlighted on the board by a small circle. This is especially useful when there are branching paths where multiple moves are possible.
      • The only times that the next move markers will not be displayed are as follows:
        • While solving puzzles/tsumego.
        • While using the Opening Explorer, as these moves are already displayed on the board in alphabetical order.
        • During tutorials when the tutorial requests that the player identify the next move themselves.
        • During match review which contains AI recommendations that have not been reviewed or identified. After choosing the best move or clicking the "Show Best Move" button, the next move markers will then be displayed.
    • Automated reviews within the campaign mode are now able to be cancelled once in progress if the player is not interested in the review for a particular match by clicking the "X" button next to the review progress meter.
    • Players can now use passing moves while reviewing matches.
    • Support has been added for imported .SGF files and workshop .SGF files to display arrows and lines board markup properties (AR[], LN[]).
  • Updates
    • Last Move Marker Changes
      • The last move marker is now a circle outline in the center of the last played stone which changes color to the opposite color of the stone to make it more visible.
      • The last move marker will no longer be displayed on a stone which has board markup on it from a .SGF file, such as a square, triangle, letter, number, etc.
    • KataGo Updates
      • A new method was implemented to prevent KataGo from resigning too early in matches. This was previously an issue primarily with campaign invasion matches which the player has a starting advantage, causing KataGo to resign after only a few moves due to being behind.
      • KataGo has been upgraded to the latest stable version (v1.10.0).
    • Formatting for directories/folders displayed within grids such as the Saved Matches menu or workshop item have been improved to allow more space for text, making it easier to read for longer folder names.
    • Steam workshop items of joseki type will now use the new next move markers instead of attempting to populate SGF letter markup for each next move if no markup exists.
  • Fixes
    • Localization Fixes
      • Fixed localization issue with formatting of match results for online matches.
      • Fixed short formatting of match results to use the correct abbreviated player color identifier.
      • Fixed a typo in the Korean translation at the start of the campaign tutorial.
      • Changed move analysis "rank" localization for Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
    • Fixed an issue with displaying the correct default komi value for .SGF file that do not specify a komi value.
    • Fixed an issue causing board markup to be misaligned until reloading when changing board settings such as coordinate size or line thickness.
    • Fixed an issue with deleting a review that is in progress which was preventing subsequent reviews from processing until switching away from the main menu.
    • Fixed an issue with saved match reviews which were unable to be deleted directly after the review was completed, until the grid of matches was reloaded.

Patch 0.17.1

  • Fixed an issue with uploaded workshop .SGF files which have the match result property populated, but are not matches, causing the score estimator to be improperly used.
  • Fixed an issue with uploaded workshop .SGF files of Joseki type which was causing lag when hovering over board markup when a node comment was also present.
