Public Test Branch v0.8.0.1145 - Incoming Patch!

Ahoy, Captains!

We’re rolling out a new patch for the Public Test branch, addressing numerous fixes and improvements based on player feedback. Your reports and testing have been invaluable in refining the experience - thank you for your support!
Reimport Profile
Players who experienced issues with profiles not fully upgrading in version v0.8 can now use the Reimport Profile function. Simply click the button located beneath the Start Game option to reimport and upgrade your profiles. This should help resolve any remaining issues.
Current Gameplay Notes
Some smaller concrete docking piers are currently designed for Tier 1 and 2 boats, meaning Tier 3 ships cannot dock at these locations. To dock a Tier 3 ship, use the larger docking areas available at ports. Future updates will improve and expand docking options for all ship tiers.
The current UI is not final. We have already begun a complete redesign, which will be rolled out in stages.

We are aware of several reported issues that have not been addressed in this patch, including:
  • Losing ownership of the fish farm or progress when loading a save file
  • Inability to sell fish from the fish farm
  • Gutting fish is not triggering on the Tier 3 fishing ship, or players are unable to reach the fish on the conveyor belt to start the gutting process
  • Flickering effects in water
  • Adjustments for rain material on the windows of Tier 3 ships
  • FPS drops when alt-tabbing out of the game
  • VSync is set to 30 FPS/Hz while using two 165 Hz monitors
We are actively working on resolving these and other reported issues based on player feedback, aiming to address them in the next patch. Thank you for your patience!

Public Test v0.8 – The Long-Awaited Tier 3 Ships and Major Overhaul!

Ahoy Captains,

Public Test for v0.8.1132 is here, bringing the highly anticipated Tier 3 ships along with a massive overhaul of the game’s core systems. To provide a more optimized and immersive experience, we undertook an extensive refactoring of the entire game—a crucial step to improve stability, address key player-reported issues, and enhance performance.

This refactoring also lays the foundation for future expansions, ensuring that Ships At Sea remains a long-term, evolving project with new features, content, and gameplay mechanics to come. By strengthening the core systems now, we are setting the stage for an even deeper and more engaging maritime experience in the future. However, due to the extensive scope of the refactoring, this version of v0.8 does not yet include all the planned features.

While you are testing and providing us valuable feedback, we will continue working on improvements and completing the remaining planned features for v0.8 through monthly patches! We didn’t want to keep you waiting any longer, so we’re releasing this update now, with more content and refinements to follow.
Backup Your Savegame
To avoid any potential issues, we strongly recommend that you back up your save files before switching to the Public Test version v0.8. Save games from version 0.7.5 should automatically upgrade when you load them. However, there may be some edge cases. Please let us know if you experience any problems while loading your save game from version 0.7.5!

Introducing Fish Production Line on Tier 3 Fishing Ship!

Greetings, Seafarers!

We are excited to unveil a significant new feature coming to Ships At Sea with Tier 3 fishing ship: the Fish Production Line! This system adds an authentic and immersive approach to processing fish, giving players a deeper connection to the operational aspects of commercial fishing.
How It Works
Fresh caught and ungutted fish will be transported from the bleeding box on the work deck to the production line. Using a conveyor system, as you can see above, the fish will move through the processing area, where players can interact with the gutting stations.
Longline Hauler

Bleeding Box

At the gutting station, players can:
• Pick up fish from the conveyor belt: Position yourself at the gutting table to retrieve fish for processing.
  • Gutting Station: Use a knife to gut the fish.
  • Return to the Conveyor Belt: Once gutted, the fish is placed back on the top conveyor belt, where it is transported to the storage room. The storage room allows players to organize and store gutted fish in boxes, ensuring a streamlined and organized workflow.
Interactive Controls:
You, as a player, will have control over the flow of the production line.
  • A start/stop button will allow you to open or close a hatch, controlling how much fresh fish spawns on the conveyor belt. When the bleeding box is empty, the gutting process will be complete.
Future Plans
We plan to expand, such as introducing upgrades for the gutting stations and allowing players to install automated gutting machines. These machines will streamline the process further—players will feed in fresh fish, and gutted fish will emerge on the other end, ready for storage.
A Step Toward Excellence
This is just the beginning of the production line system in Ships At Sea. Our goal is to create the most immersive maritime experience, and this feature is a step toward making Ships At Sea the best of its kind.

We understand that many of you are eagerly awaiting the next update, version 0.8. We want to assure you that we are diligently working to address the issues you’ve reported while also developing exciting new features. We appreciate your feedback on this development news and look forward to sharing more updates as we continue to enhance the gameplay experience.

Stay the course!
