S.O.G. Dossiers: Jackson “Moose” Callahan

For troopers eager to experience what the Special Operation Group has to offer, it’s essential to become acquainted with those you’ll be fighting alongside. This is why the Federation created these dossiers to be declassified to any trooper General Rico deems worthy for S.O.G. consideration.

Introducing your master of explosives and S.O.G. Demolisher:

Jackson Callahan, better known to his friends as “Moose,” was born and raised on the rugged Terran colony of New Wellington. From a young age, he displayed a natural athleticism and an unrivaled enthusiasm for physical challenges and combat training. His nickname "Moose" stuck early on, owing both to his imposing stature and his tendency to charge headfirst into any situation.

Growing up in New Wellington, a frontier world plagued by occasional skirmishes with hostile wildlife and criminal elements, Moose learned the importance of strength and bravery in defending oneself and others. His upbringing instilled in him a deep sense of duty and a fierce loyalty to his fellow colonists, traits that would later define his career in the Federation's Mobile Infantry.

Joining the Federation military at the earliest opportunity, Moose quickly carved out a reputation as a fearless and dependable soldier. His approach to combat was straightforward — meet force with greater force, relying on his physical prowess and sheer determination rather than intricate planning or strategic finesse. While not the sharpest tactician, Moose made up for it with his unshakable confidence and willingness to charge into the fray to protect his comrades.

Throughout his career, Moose has served on numerous fronts against the relentless Arachnid menace that threatens Federation space. His combat record is dotted with daring rescues, last-minute saves, and feats of heroism that have earned him both admiration and exasperation from his fellow troopers. His belief in his own invincibility is often tested but never shattered, fueling his recklessness in the face of overwhelming odds.

Despite his rough-and-tumble exterior and occasional clashes with authority figures due to his impulsive nature, Moose is fiercely loyal to his squadmates and deeply cares about their well-being. He sees himself not just as a soldier, but as the bulwark of his team, willing to lay down his life without hesitation to ensure their safety.

Off-duty, Moose enjoys physical training, competitive sports, and embellished tales of his own exploits over drinks with his comrades. Beneath his bravado lies a genuine warmth and camaraderie that endears him to those who see past the bluster. Deep down, Moose dreams of a future where he can continue to fight for a cause greater than himself, forever seeking the next adrenaline rush that comes with defending humanity from the Bug!

Starship Troopers: Extermination announces the Tanker Bug, Boreas, and More!

Listen up, Troopers message incoming from the United Citizen Federation!

Offworld has landed in Cologne, Germany for Gamescom ahead of the Starship Troopers: Extermination launch on console for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X | S this coming October 11th, 2024. As part of this event, troopers were able to get a special inside look showcasing the next Arachnid foe of the Tanker Bug, our new frosty locale Boreas, and also a first look at General Rico’s Special Operations Group (S.O.G.).

The Tanker Bug is a new enemy variant that is as deadly as it is massive, appearing just as it did in the 1997 film and necessitating careful strategy and teamwork to take it down. This ferocious and imposing Bug can burst through the ground without warning during matches, challenging players with its unpredictable nature and devastating incendiary stream. Don’t expect to bring down the Tanker Bug with bullets from afar; players should look to inspiration from the daring tactics of General Rico himself to exploit its weak points to defeat it.

Boreas, meanwhile, is a new ice planet, recently infested by the arrival of a Bug meteor. Set to debut alongside the console launch, this chilling environment presents a new battleground where players will face Bug variants adapted to the frigid environment in the Frost Drone and Frost Warrior.

Casper Van Dien reprises his role as General Johnny Rico. Code-named Special Operations Group (S.O.G.), this new solo play mode sees the player undertake a multitude of missions dispatched by the General himself as he brings together the best of the best from Spec Ops divisions within the UCF for top-secret assignments. Varying in scope and objectives, these missions are designed to prepare soldiers for the more challenging 16-person multiplayer missions; additional missions will be added in subsequent content updates beyond the October 11th launch.

Helldivers 2 rival Starship Troopers Extermination details 1.0 revamp

It's no secret that Helldivers 2 borrows a lot from Starship Troopers. The game's galactic war against bugs, thinly veiled critique of fascism, and over-the-top action are all staples of the 1997 film. Arrowhead's beloved shooter wears this inspiration on its sleeve, but before the bombastic co-op game even came out, the universe of Heinlein's novel was already being adapted into something very familiar. Starship Troopers Extermination has been quietly chugging away in Steam Early Access for over a year now, and with the full 1.0 launch looming, there are plenty of massive changes coming.
