Long time since I posted an update here. These past 5 months have been very busy.
I have tons of interesting news to share with you guys, and I'm currently preparing a devlog post to announce what's coming next for Baby Dino Adventures.

In the meantime, you probably heard about it already but it's time to nominate your favorite games of the year for the Steam Awards 2020.

Patch Note v104

Hello there,

First I'd like to thank everyone for your support, and kind words.
This EA release is getting me a lot of motivations for what's next.

So this patch note is mostly about an annoying bug that came up with the latest update (v103). It prevents following Steam achievements from working:
  • This is only the beginning of your adventure - Complete the first forest level
  • Forest completed - Complete all forest levels


Hopefully SirYakko reported me the issue, so I spent this Saturday morning on fixing it.

You'll have to update the game to make it work. Make sure you're using the version 104 once the game starts. If not, you'll have to uninstall/reinstall the game. Sadly you will loose your previous progression as this fix depends on core features of the game. I will do my best to provide a way to keep your save game clean in the future.

I'm really sorry for this, and feel free to reach me out if you find any annoying bugs like this.

This update includes translations for following languages:
- German (de-DE) - Thank you, Yustin Ogr!
- Portuguese Brazil (pt-BR) - Thank you, Bruna Veronese!
- And few changes to Danish (dk-DK) - Thank you, BattleCat!

More translations will come soon.

[h3]Enhancements[/h3]
  • Added the ability to skip dialogs using Y/Triangle button on gamepad (as suggested by @MrJoshuaMcLean)
  • Added downhill animations to NPCs (using tbHelpers obj and some instance variables)
  • Improved sand blocks behavior
  • Improved doors logic for multiple environments
  • Added a firework fx that spawn once you enter an exit door. It uses Baby Dino colors.
  • Added a simple function to animate overworld maps


[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]
  • Fixed a couple of visual glitches on overall tilemaps

Patch Note v101

Hello there! This week I'm glad to tell you that a new major update of the game has just landed.

This update contains a lot of enhancements and bug fixes that the community reported me.
These changes should improve drastically the overall game experience.

Remember that the Early Access will start on July 1, 2020.

[h3]Important new features[/h3]

Baby Dino can run to allow faster level completion, and push crates to solve puzzles.
Following lots of feedback I received from players, I added more controls to use this run ability.

On a keyboard, hold on Ctrl/ALT/Alt Gr (cmd/control/option on Mac) while moving left or right.
On a gamepad, hold on X/Y/Right shoulder button/Right shoulder trigger while moving left or right.

Also, less visible changes but still very important. I reworked JSON mechanics entirely. This could be a tech talk so I won't give much details here. Except that this allowed me to create a new Pause menu based on the start screen one.

[h3]Enhancements[/h3]
  • Bees - Hitbox widened
  • Chestnut Thwomps - Added more SFX, and a Squash&Stretch VFX on object landed
  • Crates - Hitbox widened, plus added a destroy SFX
  • Dialogs - Keyboard players can now press Spacebar/Enter key to go to next NPC dialog.
  • Items - Added a chomp steak SFX, and a collect egg SFX
  • Level 9 - Simplified level. No more water. Plus, added more dialogs if the snail got stuck by metal boxes (to help player understand what he has to do)
  • Menus - Added UI SFX
  • NPCs: - Added name below avatar
  • Overworld - Keyboard players can now press the Spacebar key to enter a level on Overworld map
  • Pea Plant projectiles - Gave more color contrast to sprite to enhance visibility. Added a rotating VFX


[h3]Bugfixes[/h3]
  • Crates - Sometimes particles didn't spawn for some reasons..
  • Doors - Fixed some animation issues. Plus, it is no more possible to reach next level without finishing current level if you use the entry door to go back to the overworld map
  • Gamepad - You can not move if NPC talks
  • Level 3 - Auto-unlocked level 4 once completed
  • Level 8 - At the end of the level, it was possible to get stuck between boxes aside the wall
  • NPC dialog won't autostart if current level is completed
  • Rotating Platforms - Fixed jump-through issue by reducing collision height
