Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter News

We’re Back With Fixes!

[p][/p][p]Hello Captains,[/p][p]First of all, we owe you an apology. It’s been a long time since our last update, and we haven’t been as communicative as we should have. Please know that we are here for you, and Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter is absolutely not abandonware.[/p][p]We’ve been quietly working in the background, and today we bring you a fresh batch of fixes. These come directly from your reports, whether on the Steam forums, through the in-game Bug Reporter, or on our official Discord channel. Your feedback continues to be invaluable in shaping and improving the game.[/p]
What we managed to do:
• [p]Fixed the display of textures on instruments that were unreadable (too blurry) when using low quality or performance settings.[/p]
  • [p]Improved the display of the DRT ruler and disk.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed the display of the bearing indicator in the top-left corner of the BRIDGE.[/p]
  • [p]Improved the rendering of all other elements that feature a 360-degree angular scale (bearings).[/p]
  • [p]Fixes for displaying the game in non-standard resolutions and widescreen mode.[/p]
  • [p]World rendering fixes in external views: - too bright (glowing ships), - too dark (black screen).
    [/p]
Help us hunt the bugs
[p]We would love your help in testing and tracking down more issues. If you encounter problems, please keep using the Bug Reporter, it makes a huge difference when you include:[/p]
  • [p]A clear description of what happened,[/p]
  • [p]Your system specifications,[/p]
  • [p]And especially details about your graphics card.[/p]
[p]We want to highlight that Intel graphics cards remain our biggest challenge — the bright glow on ships. If you’re running the game on one of these, your feedback is particularly important right now.[/p][p]Also, a sudden blackout of the screen during gameplay is an issue (but that is not connected with Intel), so if you still experience this, please give us a ping.[/p]
Thank You for being with us!
[p]Finally, we just want to thank you again for your patience and continued support. Destroyer: The U-Boat Hunter is a complex simulation, and your passion keeps us motivated to push forward. We’re grateful for every bug report, suggestion, and kind word.[/p][p]

Optimized for thrills

Dear Destroyer fans,

It is with great pleasure that we can finally bring Destroyer to a new platform, namely Mac.

In the meantime, we continue to tackle stability issues which could lead to crashes on less powerful setups, especially if the selected display options were too tough for a particular machine to handle. Alongside, we have managed to further optimize the game to ensure smoother running on all configurations.

We hope that you will continue to enjoy Destroyer, and we wish you many successfully defended convoys!

We’re coming in hot

Dear Destroyer fans,

The recently added bug reporter has worked even better than we had thought, almost instantly revealing a few issues that were rather tricky to pinpoint, but, with your help, also very quick to fix. We are, therefore, rolling out a hotfix to squash the bugs that you have kindly reported. As always, the list of changes is presented below.

P.S. Some bugs, such as repeating ship names, may still occur after loading a save game from a previous version. Whenever possible, we recommend avoiding the use of old saves.

Leave no bug behind

Dear Destroyer fans,

As time passes, there are fewer and fewer bugs being reported by you. While this is a good thing, at the same time, some of the issues that you have reported are quite difficult to reproduce on our end, which also makes them more difficult to fix. Therefore, we have added a bug reporting functionality so that whenever an issue occurs, you can report it to us quickly. Not only does it allow you to fill in a description of the issue, but it also automatically sends us the copies of a few important files from your game, allowing us to investigate the nature of such a bug much more quickly. We are confident that the addition of the bug reporter will allow us to address your concerns more efficiently.

In the meantime, we have again managed to introduce a couple of the most crucial and awaited fixes that some of you have been asking for. The save game bug that would sometimes disable the UI has been eradicated, and we have also dealt with another issue that would mess up the escorts names, duplicating them instead of using the four different names that we have for them.

Lastly, as some of you have commented, the battles can come to an abrupt end. In order to tackle this problem, we have introduced a few various messages by the escort commander, informing you when the U-boat threat has been nullified. Upon hearing them, you can be sure that the engagement has come to a close.

We hope that the above fixes will improve your ASW experience and that you will continue to enjoy Destroyer.
