๐Ÿ›๏ธ Greetings Builders! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

It's hard to believe that it's been over 6 months since our first encounter with Builders of Greece experience. That's when a group of brave testers (that's you!) entered the amazing world of Ancient Greece and began their adventure as the mighty rulers of magnificent, prosperous Polis. Builders of Greece Demo provided us with a wealth of knowledge and tons of awesome feedback, for which we are very grateful to you all, guys! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜„

However, there is no need to dwell on the past, as today we have particularly exciting news for you! But before we move on, we believe it's an opportune moment to pause and provide our cherished community with some well-deserved explanations.

As you have surely noticed, there was a slight delay compared to our plans presented on the RoadMap ๐Ÿ“‹ The Prologue version has been delayed for some time now... but for a good reason! If you had the chance to play the Builders of Greece Demo, you know that what we care about the most is quality and providing you with the best possible gaming experience.

Regrettably, attaining such a high standard of quality requires time, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your enthusiasm and understanding. We appreciate your open and supportive approach to this minor delay! Once again, you proved that you are the best community any developer can dream of ๐Ÿฅฐ And we want to repay you for that!
It's time to get to the point - Builders of Greece: Prologue Playtest sign-ups starts right now!

With these things behind us, it's time for the good news! But hey... did you mean just the Prologue? What is this "Playtest" thing? ๐Ÿค” No worries! The Prologue version is coming really soon, however, we have decided that we want to pre-empt its release with a Prologue Playtest.

While we're very happy with Prologue as it is today, we know that there is still room for the improvement. That's why we need your help, everyone! Become our tester, build your own ancient city, and share your valuable feedback on the Prologue Playtest version!
Sign me in! โ˜๏ธ How do I play the Prologue Playtest?

Well... it's simple! All you have to do is visit the Builders of Greece Steam Page and hit the "Request Access" button (green box above the announcements section). Once you've done that, wait for the information about the Playtest launch (we will try to grant access to as many players as possible).

No worries, the Prologue Playest version is 100% free of charge, and you can play it as much as you like! ๐Ÿ˜ Remember, that the "actual" Prologue will follow soon after!
The differences between Demo and Prologue

While the Demo version primarily served as an extensive tutorial to explain the fundamental mechanics of the game, the Prologue is on a whole different level, offering more content and depth. New buildings, cool features, random events, or more management, and decision-making elements are just to begin with!

Moreover, the Prologue (and its Playtest) is based on a scenario similar to those you will encounter in the full game ๐Ÿ“œ so you will have a taste of what challenges Builders of Greece will present in the future. Of course, this is still just a substitute for the huge adventure that awaits us after the game's release (which will be much more elaborate and complex), but we're sure you get the idea ๐Ÿค“

We look forward to receiving your initial feedback and opinions, and we really hope that you will like this version of the game as much as the Demo (with 80% positive reviews ๐Ÿ‘). Rest assured that we have done our best to make it so!

Please remember that we are always happy to answer your questions or refer to your awesome ideas on our Social Media channels and Discord server. Be sure to drop by!

The Ruler's Manual #10 - Hygiene

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Greetings, mighty Builders! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Any ruler who wants to go down in history ๐Ÿ“š should get acquainted with the "Ruler's Manual" series! Why - you ask? Well, in the following entries we tell you about how to make your Polis wealthy, safe, and as prosperous as possible. And believe us, it's not as easy as it may seem!

...and talk to the community and developers about the game!

Life in Ancient Greece, while full of wonderful adventures, was not one of the safest or easiest. In addition to famine, wars, and hostile, wild lands, the inhabitants of the city-states also faced other threats. One of the biggest and most dangerous of them are diseases ๐Ÿคข Since humans began to form civilizations, and thus live in larger groups, diseases have spread more easily and quickly than ever before. Sadly, this was the price our ancestors had to pay for being part of a developing society.

The good news is that epidemics, though they can put an end even to a thriving, prosperous Polis, can be controlled and even prevented. Today we will learn how to manage the hygiene of your subjects to ensure their health and a good, long life ๐Ÿ’–
What are the dangers of the lack of hygiene among your subjects?

It's not like the people of your city don't want to be clean and tidy - not at all! They will gladly take every opportunity to wash off the dirt and feel fresh and neat ๐Ÿงผ It is therefore important to give them the opportunity to use facilities that will allow them to take care of hygiene. It should not come as a surprise, that a neglected, dirty society is the perfect environment for disease and epidemics to spread. And this is something we want to avoid!

Know that your empire may suffer severely if an epidemic breaks out in the streets of your Polis. Many of your subjects may then choose to emigrate or succumb to disease and cross the dark river of Styx ๐Ÿ’€

Let's not be dramatic, though, as there is a way to avert these dark visions! Most of these dangers are nothing that the good old Baths๐Ÿ’ฆ - so much loved by the ancients - can't handle. A visit to this building is a great way to cleanse your body after a day's work and return to the desired freshness. In addition, the Baths uses precious Cosmetics that simply are loved by your subjects.

Baths' purpose is to help keep the living part of your society clean and healthy. As cruel as it sounds, none of its members will live forever. That is why we are putting one more building at your disposal. This gloom structure will allow you to stave off diseases and provide an eternal resting place for those who have passed away.
Necropolis and it's noble purpose

As we mentioned at the beginning of this entry, life in Ancient Greece was not very safe. Wounds sustained in combat, hunting, or travel often turned out to be serious enough to send the injured person to the other side ๐Ÿ˜ซ Not to mention hunger or infections. In such a situation, the Ancients had to learn how to handle the bodies of the dead. If they buried them just anywhere, they would quickly expose themselves to numerous diseases and health problems.

The Necropolis is a place where your citizens can bury their loved ones in a safe and reverent way, without fear of carrying a negative impact on the health of their fellow citizens. Specially anointed and prepared bodies are deposited in the Necropolis vaults, where the deceased spirits can enjoy eternal feast and spring in the fields of Elysium ๐Ÿน Drinks all around!

And what if, despite all your efforts and the provision of appropriate infrastructure, your subjects fall ill? This is certainly an undesirable situation, but there is a way out of it as well. In such cases, the services of physicians stationed at Healer's House and Clinic will be very useful! ๐Ÿ’Š They can fight both the initial and more developed stages of the disease, and restore your inhabitants to health and good shape. However, we adhere to the principle - prevention is better than cure! If you provide your city with the right conditions to take care of its hygiene, your subjects will surely repay you with diligence, loyalty and high morale! ๐Ÿค“

In the following parts of the series, we will return to you with descriptions of many other important mechanics and tips that will help you become the greatest ruler of all time! As always - stay tuned.

A little delay... for a good cause!

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Greetings Builders! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

We don't know about you, but we remember the very first pre-release version of the game with great joy. Builders of Greece Demo met with a warm, enthusiastic reception, and gathered a really wide group of players who wanted to try their hand as an Ancient Ruler ๐Ÿ‘‘

According to the plan (i.e. our Content RoadMaP), the next stage after releasing the Demo version was to publish... the Prologue. No worries, everyone, it's coming! ๐Ÿ˜ In fact, Builders of Greece: Prologue is already at a very advanced stage of development and now is undergoing the last minor fixes, improvements, and tests. However, the process turned out to be a bit more time-consuming and complex than we originally expected. Titles from the city builder genre are extremely difficult to balance and polish, and even the smallest change of a seemingly insignificant element can have huge effects in the late stages of the game. Not to mention fixing bugs, adding new features, or improving visuals.
Making a long story short... we are compelled to postpone the release of Builders of Greece: Prologue ๐Ÿค“

...and talk about the Prologue with our community!
If we cast our mind back a few months, we'll recall a comparable situation that occurred with the Demo version โณ Back then, we also had to ask you for a little more patience and postpone the release date of the game. In the end, it turned out to be a good decision, because the testers' surveys showed that you liked the Demo very much! Well, we believe that will be the case with Prologue as well.
Builders of Greece: Prologue is coming really soon

All in all, there is no reason to be worried. We still plan to release the Prologue version as soon as possible, and it's a matter of weeks rather than months. We know how impatiently you are waiting for the next chance to visit the world of Ancient Greece once again and bring your next city to life ๐Ÿ‘ We are very grateful for your enthusiasm, and we will make sure to not make you wait too long!

As we have repeatedly pointed out in our previous announcements, our primary goal is to provide you with the highest quality and most fun gaming experience possible ๐Ÿ˜Ž Thanks to the extra time to work on the Prologue, we can further extend, deepen, and improve the gameplay. A ruler's greatest joy is to see his or her city move toward prosperity and glory, and we want you to feel pride and fulfillment as your empire flourishes. That's why our testers, programmers, and designers won't rest until they are sure that the Prologue version looks exactly as we planned.

That being said, we want to thank you for your continued support and understanding! We will soon announce more exciting news related to Builders of Greece: Prologue, and we will be sure to provide more details. Until then - stay hyped, everyone! ๐Ÿ˜

Architect's Corner #12 - Weavery & Tailor Workshop

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Greetings Builders! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Welcome to the next part of our "Architect's Corner" series, in which we tell you all about the buildings you will have at your disposal as a ruler of an ancient Greek Polis. Discover interesting tips and tricks, learn how to effectively plan the development of your city, and check out how many useful structures you can raise - all this to the glory of a great ruler, such as yourself! ๐Ÿ‘‘
...and talk to the community and developers about the game!

Useful, fashionable and beautiful - clothes of your empire ๐Ÿงต

One of the most important differences between humans and other inhabitants of our planet is... the concept of clothes and fashion. And although it may seem a bit funny and obvious at first, there is a lot of truth in this statement! Even the first representatives of our species covered their bodies with primitive clothing, and over time we took this art to a much higher, more advanced level.

Your Greek empire also has its own unique take on clothes, and it's your job as a ruler to make sure none of your people is... naked ๐Ÿ˜
It all starts with a good material - Weavery ๐Ÿ‘

The whole clothing adventure begins at the Flax Plantation, where your farmers harvest the precious Flax. Making a long story short, after proper care and collection, the excavated material goes to the Weavery. Everyone in the industry knows, that long, strong Flax fibers are just perfect for further processing! ๐Ÿง And that's what the Weavery does - with the right tools, knowledge and technology, the workers of this building turn the raw plant into beautiful, useful bales of Linen.

It is not without reason that Linen is one of the most frequently used materials for the production of clothes (from ancient times until today!) Linen is very strong, absorbent, and dries faster than cotton. Because of these properties, linen is comfortable to wear in hot weather and is valued for use in garments! No wonder that many civilizations have taken a liking to this type of fiber.

However, cloth alone, no matter how great, will not turn into beautiful, colorful robes by itself...
With needle and thread - Tailor Workshop ๐Ÿฅผ

Now that we have provided our tailors with the right materials, we can start the actual work! It is within the walls of their workshop that beautiful robes, which later decorate and protect the bodies of your subjects, are created ๐Ÿคฉ We all associate their unique clothing style with airy, long robes and tunics. Without a doubt, this is a very interesting and simply beautiful style, but most importantly, it is practical and perfectly suited to the hot climate of Greece. No question, our ancestors knew what they were doing!

Constant access to clothes and robes will definitely speed up the development of your city. Some social classes require this commodity in order to function and continue to advance. Keep this in mind when planning the expansion of your Polis, as higher social classes are necessary for this purpose. In addition, robes are a valuable trade item ๐Ÿค‘ and selling them will certainly help you to fertilize your treasury or acquire other valuable goods!

In the following parts of the series, we will return with descriptions of many other cool structures that will ensure the safety, well-being, and development of your city. We hope that the buildings presented today will find their place among the streets of your Polis, and that they will contribute to the growth of your magnificent empire! ๐Ÿ˜€ As always - thank you and stay tuned!

The Ruler's Manual #9 - Random Events

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Greetings, mighty Builders! ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Any ruler who wants to go down in history ๐Ÿ“š should get acquainted with the "Ruler's Manual" series! Why - you ask? Well, in the following entries we tell you about how to make your Polis wealthy, safe, and as prosperous as possible. And believe us, it's not as easy as it may seem!

...and talk to the community and developers about the game!

Make no mistake, life in Ancient Greece was full of surprises! For what would the life of a ruler be if it were completely predictable and organized? ๐ŸŽฒ Huge celebrations, hostile raids, weather changes, or social problems may fall on you completely unannounced, which can change the whole course of your empire's history. Who knows? Perhaps such events will save your city from trouble... or on the contrary - they will plunge it into chaos and destruction. Either way, we believe the Random Events system makes your adventure with Builders of Greece even more attractive and replayable!

Today, we will learn more about how to deal with such Random Events and try to predict the unpredictable. Here we go! ๐Ÿ˜€
Random Events are both an opportunity and threat

Let's start with the fact that it's not like all Random Events that happen to your empire are bad or harmful. Not at all - some of them can benefit your society in a significant way. Needless to say, your subjects will be delighted once they happen! Positive Random Events are a great break from the long days full of work and other daily errands, so keep your fingers that they will occur once in a while.

We are sure you're curious what positive, unexpected events you can count on ๐Ÿง You better get ready to praise Gods, host some ancient celebrities, and feast!

All right, let's get to the point. Among the positive events that can affect your city, we can mention the treasure hunt! Well... maybe not "exactly" a treasure hunt, but if you're lucky enough, your builders may come across the unusual find. During the construction of a new building, their shovels can hit strange wooden containers ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

The dirt beneath your city turned out to hide buried treasure, which is most likely a remnant of the former inhabitants of this land. You could keep it to expand your empire's treasury or distribute it to citizens to show them your kindness. What it will be? The choice is yours!

Positive events can also result from grassroots, social needs. From time to time, the residents of your Polis need a break from hard work and their daily errands. And what is better to forget about the hardships of everyday life than a Festival? ๐Ÿฅณ Of course, the final decision whether the festival will take place or not rests on your shoulders. Will you be willing to let the city celebrate? Remember, that satisfaction and joy of subjects come at a price - for a while your workshops, farms, and other production buildings will suspend their work, not to mention the coins that you will have to spend to cover the costs of this great event.

If you want to expand your city even further or need extra hands to work, you can count on Refugees. At random times, they may knock on the door of your palace and ask for shelter. If you decide to accept them, they will become your loyal subjects and happily devote their skills for the glory of the empire ๐Ÿ  Before you offer them a home, make sure you have the right conditions to do so! We don't want that extra mouths to feed ruin your supplies, do we?
You never know what to expect

Of course, there is also the other sides of this coin and some of the Random Events pose a threat. Let's take a closer look at the most obvious one, which is enemy attack on your town. The rulers of neighboring city-states may see their opportunity in plundering your wealth for themselves and decide to launch an assault on your Polis โš” Such attacks are always fateful, so be sure to keep a strong, numerous army!

The whim of the gods can be just as dangerous โšก From time to time, the soothsayers may inform you that the rough sea is a sign of Poseidon's wrath. Whatever the reasons for the high waves, going to sea is not the best idea at the moment. But what about our brave fishermen? And how long can your city last without one of the main sources of its food - fish? Time will tell...

Another difficulty facing the ruler is public discontent. If famine, high taxes, poverty, or other serious problems occur in your empire, people may take to the streets and chant against your reigns. To make things even worse ๐Ÿ”ฅ riots are generating more and more damage with each passing moment.

In this situation, there are only two ways out - appease them with silver or violently suppress the subversives.
How to deal with Random Events

Unfortunately, some events are completely out of your control. However, there are a few rules that will help you control their effects! To mitigate the damage caused by Random Events, you should always keep your treasury full of coins, your warehouses and granaries full of goods, and keep your people safe and happy. Sounds easy, right? ๐Ÿ˜ Right...

In the following parts of the series, we will return to you with descriptions of many other important mechanics and tips that will help you become the greatest ruler of all time! As always - stay tuned.
