Prestige Mode:

  • Added the functionality for a player to Prestige once they reach Fame Rank 66.

Dev Comment: “With Prestige Mode, we want to celebrate the most ruthless and unbreakable clone jockeys who bled, battled, and triumphed on our unforgiving tracks. Once you reach Fame rating 66, select the new ‘Prestige’ button on the Clone Data screen and start your journey to legendary status. With each Prestige rank, your Fame rating will reset, but you’ll keep all of your unlocks and gain those aforementioned special cosmetics to show off with. Players who Prestige will also be granted the Bachman Media Network Verified Tick, awarded to only the most enduring of jockeys. All will know that you are part of an elite fellowship who have survived the carnage.”

Maps:

  • Added the maps Vertigo, Blackout, and Smog to the PvP map rotation.

  • Added the maps Vertigo, Blackout, and Smog to the Rehearsal map list.

  • Fixed instances of incorrect kill volumes and collisions on several maps.

Dev Comment: “In order to ensure the best player experience, we have continued our ongoing efforts to address incorrect kill volumes and collisions across several of our maps. We appreciate all the feedback from our community which allows us to make these improvements.”

  • Fixed an issue where the laser grid audio would not play consistently on a player death.

UI:

  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Quit’ button was not displaying on the post-match screen.

Fixed an issue where the player position would incorrectly display a player having an ability where they did not.

Fixed instances of UI elements being highlighted incorrectly throughout the game.

DEATHSPRINT 66 Update 1

Hello Clone Jockeys,

Thank you all for playing DEATHSPRINT 66 and your continued support.

Today we are releasing our first major update and are excited to introduce one of the community’s most requested features into the game: Offline Mode.

That’s not all though. We are also adding five of our AR-themed maps from the PvE Episodes to the PvP map rotation. There are plenty more fixes and tweaks in this patch, so make sure to read the full patch notes below.

Update 1 will be going live at 2PM GMT, so there may be a brief interruption in play. You will need to restart Steam and download the update when it goes live.

Patch Notes:

Offline Mode:

  • Added the functionality to play the PvE and Rehearsal modes while offline.
Dev Comment: “We’ve heard your requests for an Offline Mode and today we are introducing just that. Once you have installed the update, you will be able to launch the game without an internet connection and enjoy both the PvE and Rehearsal game modes. For new players, there is no need to go online before using Offline Mode meaning once the game is downloaded, you can start playing regardless of your internet connection. While not required, we do still recommend going online every so often to ensure you have the latest version installed.”

Abilities:

  • Fixed an issue where using the Enraged Charge ability could cause the player to change direction incorrectly.

Maps:

  • Added the maps Holonet, Encryption, Firewall, Connection, and Upload to the PvP map list and Rehearsal map list, plus added PvP leaderboards for these maps.
Dev Comment: “Another community request we heard was for the PvE maps to be added to the PvP map rotation. The five maps have been touched up to ensure they are race ready, and we look forward to seeing your leaderboard times.”

  • Fixed instances of players not respawning correctly on several maps.

UI:

  • Fixed an issue where “Apply” on the Clone Data screen would become non-functional.

  • Fixed an issue where the player was required to select “Apply” twice to assign rewards.

  • Fixed an issue where multiple items would be highlighted on the pause menu.

  • Fixed an issue where the exclamation point would never clear from the Clone Data screen.

  • Fixed instances of UI elements not being correctly aligned on 16:10 aspect ratios.

  • Fixed an issue where PvP would always be highlighted when returning to the main menu.

Options:

  • Fixed an issue where the Frame Rate Limiter (Background) option was not functioning correctly.

Misc:

  • Fixed an issue where ‘Death’ progression was being miscalculated.

  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Practice’ achievement would unlock incorrectly after completing the tutorial.

  • Fixed an issue where blood decals could sometimes disappear and reappear.

  • Miscellaneous adjustments and fixes.

Once again, we thank you so much for your continued support and feedback. That’s all for now. See you on the track!

Revealing our next four updates

Hello Clone Jockeys.

Thank you all for playing DEATHSPRINT 66 and for your continued support.

Today is a very proud moment for us, as we unveil our roadmap for the rest of 2024, and early 2025. We hope you are as excited about what’s to come as we are!

We will reveal more details on each update when we can – with our Discord being the best place to get sneak peeks, talk to the developers, and even help with the development of Update 4!

We also have a special message from Andy Willans, Game Director of DEATHSPRINT 66.

“On behalf of the dev team here at Sumo Newcastle, I’d like to start by thanking you, our wonderful community. It’s been fantastic to see how our game has been received since launch, and we’re regularly tuning into the streams and Discord activity. You really “get it” and some of those best times are just epic! (and inspirational!)

On a more practical level, your input towards bug squashing, balance tuning and future feature discussion continues to be appreciated. Please keep sharing those videos and comments which help us to build from solid foundations. You’ll notice in the Content Roadmap that we have listed Community Feedback as part of each upcoming update. We are listening and acting on things as soon as we can, so please join those conversations.

As we look towards the next couple of months you’ll see some exciting new content on the horizon. As we get closer to each update we’ll provide more details on the features, and hopefully some sneak peaks into the new tracks and cosmetics… which we’re already buzzing about!

We’ll also be keeping our (now) regular ‘Race the Devs’ sessions for the foreseeable and will post the timings for these each week in Discord. So come along and show off your skills!

See you on the racetrack!

Andy.”

Once again, we thank you for your continued support and feedback. That’s all for now. See you on the track!

DEATHSPRINT 66 Patch 1.1

Hello Clone Jockeys.

Thank you all for playing DEATHSPRINT 66 and your continued support.

While the team are hard at work on plenty of exciting things, today we are publishing our next patch which is focused on addressing several bugs and community feedback. This includes the much-requested change to the size of the Mine collision.

The other headline changes are further balances to the abilities, along with improvements to several tracks to address instances of players getting stuck or caught in respawn loops. There are plenty more fixes and tweaks, so make sure to read the full patch notes below.

Patch 1.1 will be going live at 2PM BST, so there may be a brief interruption in play. You will need to restart Steam and download the update when it goes live.
Patch 1.1 Notes:
Abilities:

  • Reduced the overall size of the Mine collision.
Dev Comment: “We’ve heard your feedback on the size of the Mine collision and agree that it’s currently too big. With this change, we have reduced the overall size to ensure a better gameplay experience and allow for much closer calls while avoiding them.”

  • Made balance adjustments to the percentage chance of which ability a player will be granted, along with how long the EMP affects a player.
Dev Comment: “In Hotfix #1, we made changes to how often the EMP would be granted to players. With this update, we have made further adjustments to how long the EMP will affect a player.

Additionally, we have tweaked the percentage chances for which ability will be granted depending on a player's race position. We think this will allow for players at the back of the pack more opportunities to make a comeback, keeping races engaging and limiting frustration for those out front.”

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when the player was granted the Mag Shield ability.

  • Fixed an issue where a player could temporarily get stuck if they activated the Enraged Charge ability while airborne over a gap.

Maps:

  • Fixed instances across multiple maps where the player could get stuck or find themself caught in a respawn loop.

Dev Comments: “We have done several passes of the tracks to address areas where players were finding themselves caught in respawn loops or just simply stuck, unable to continue a race.

Additionally, we have fixed instances of kill volumes extending just a bit too far onto some of the tracks which were causing unintended player deaths. We hope these changes will improve the race experience for all players, and we will continue to make improvements to our tracks moving forward.”

  • Adjusted the locations of checkpoints on the track Bayview to account for players jumping over gaps towards the start and end of the track.
Dev Comment: “These shortcuts were not something we had intended to be present on this track. However, after seeing how much the community has come to love them, we decided the best thing to do was keep them. With that in mind, we have adjusted the locations of the checkpoints on this track to ensure players can still use these shortcuts without the risk that they can’t finish the race. Keep those new lap records coming!”

UI:

  • Fixed the kill feed not showing the correct information in some circumstances.

Fixed an issue where other player’s Fame rank badges would appear than disappear in the pre-match lobby screen.

Fixed an issue where the player Fame and Awards screens would display incorrectly until the player reached Fame rank 2.

Fixed an issue where non-latinised text in usernames was not displaying on multiple screens.

Fixed an issue where ‘Contestant’ was not translated correctly in all languages.

Fixed issues on the Clone Data screen which prevented controls from working correctly.

Options:

  • Fixed an issue where the colour blindness settings would reset when launching the game.

Fixed an issue where the controls would become unresponsive if the player died while the pause menu was opened.

Fixed an issue on the Options menu where changing the camera to inverted would have no effect.

Fixed an issue where DLSS was always set to ‘Quality’ in the Options menu when the game is launched.

Fixed an issue where the text ‘Off’ and ‘On’ in the Options menu was displaying in the wrong language.

Misc:

  • Fixed issues around players leaving matches in certain circumstances that would cause knock-on effects to match flow and wait times.

Once again, we thank you so much for your continued support and feedback. That’s all for now. See you on the track!

Sprint With or Without Motion Blur

Hello Clone Jockeys.

A few weeks ago, we released a hotfix that included a community requested feature – a toggle for Motion Blur.

You can toggle Motion Blur on/off by using this setting in the Graphics options.

Here is a side-by-side comparison with one lap of Dustbowl.
