Join the Public Beta Test and receive a free new in-game outfit

We've been hard at work on our next update, and we need your support! From today onward, you can jump into the DEVOUR Public Beta to help us test major new features before they go live.
Public Beta Testing
We are looking for players to spot bugs or any technical issues before we release any major DEVOUR update. In return, anybody who participates in this or future Public Beta Tests gains a free unique outfit for all playable characters.

To switch to the Beta branch, right-click DEVOUR in your Steam library, select Properties and go to the Betas tab.
New Character: April
As part of the upcoming update we would like to introduce our new, playable character April. She's more used to strutting down the catwalk than running from demons...
Custom Outfits
Dazzle your fellow players (or Anna/Molly) with fancy new outfits! We are offering custom outfits as a way for you to personalize your favourite playable characters in DEVOUR, as well as support the future development of our game.

The majority of time spent on update 1.4 was building out the infrastructure to allow for these awesome new paid-for character customization options. You can help test these systems simply by switching to the free Beta Tester outfit in the lobby and also by purchasing any of the new paid-for outfits. Of course, these outfits will stay on your account for when we push the update to the live branch in the near future.

Today we are announcing the first 2 outfits which are for Zara! We plan to add more outfits in the future.
1.4 Changelog
• Adds new outfit preview UI to lobby.
 • Added new playable character, April.
 • Added 2 new paid-for outfits for Zara: Claws Out and Fan The Flames
 • Jump animation improved in 3rd person.
 • In-game status messages for key pickups now translate correctly into the clients language.
 • Fixed an issue where you could avoid being grabbed by Demons/Inmates in certain crouched positions.
 • Improvements to how objects are dropped and swapped to prevent bugs with animals getting stuck.
 • UI icons will no longer get stuck on the screen during an ending cutscene.

Please note that we are also hard at work on DEVOUR's new map. We will announce more information when we're ready, but we are still aiming for a pre-Halloween release.

Update 1.3: Batteries, Revive Improvements and More!

We're excited to release update 1.3 today. Please read below for more details on all of the changes.
Batteries
DEVOUR was designed to be a difficult game; due to the condensed length of each playthrough, we felt it was important to offer a challenging experience to players. However, now that DEVOUR has grown in popularity, we are noticing that the game can be a little too punishing for some players at times. Especially in Nightmare mode!

With that, we're releasing the new Batteries item as an optional game mechanic. Batteries can be used to instantly recharge your UV flashlight, as well as giving you a bonus amount of charge across all the difficulty modes. Check below the specifics.

 • Batteries will only spawn on the map if enabled by the host.
 • You can pick up and drop Batteries just like any other item.
 • To consume a Battery, press the R key.
 • Once consumed, the UV is fully recharged, with a bonus amount of charge. (Normal: 160%, Hard: 100%, Nightmare: 60%)
 • Bonus UV flashlight charge is indicated with an orange colour and does not regenerate.
 • Batteries will respawn on the map after being consumed.
 • There are a maximum number of batteries available in the game world at one time, including those held in players' hands but not yet consumed. (Normal: 4, Hard: 3, Nightmare: 2).
Revive improvements
If you've played DEVOUR, you've probably experienced a slighty janky behaviour when reviving. With this update, we completely reworked the revive logic to iron out some of these bugs.
What's next?
We know that most of you are interested to find out when DEVOUR's next map will release. Our aim is to release it before Halloween 2021. It will be our most ambitious map yet, and we will definitely share more details with you in the near future! As always, please keep in mind that we are a small team and creating new maps takes a huge amount of work.

We're also working on some other features which we want to release in the coming weeks. These include:
 • New playable cult member 'April'.
 • New character outfits (separate purchase)
 • Farmhouse full audio redesign
1.3.0 Changelog
• Added Dutch and Indonesian language settings.
 • Added Credits to the main menu.
 • Added a new Mute Jump Scares audio setting.
 • Fix for voice chat sometimes not working in lobbies.
 • Displays a status message in the chat section when another player picks up a key.
 • Fix for a hole in the world under the stairs near the Asylum fireplace.
 • AI now correctly paths on the Asylum ritual area platform.
 • Fixed a couple of spots on the Asylum map where Molly could not reach players.
 • Fix for an edge case when Molly would scream on a client's machine but not on the host.
 • Improved tutorials for AI staggering and calming down mechanics.
 • Molly no longer renders red eyes constantly in Nightmare mode.
 • Improvements made to both Farmhouse and Asylum environments to prevent being pushed through some walls when player collisions is turned on.
 • Tweaks to the hosting lobby UI to allow for more settings to fit in future.
 • Fixed a bug where you could pick Molly on The Asylum.
 • Hosts now verify that clients own a legit copy of DEVOUR on Steam. This requires Steam to be initialized.

v1.2.6 (Investigative build)

We are aware of a rare issue where Molly will run around with a knocked out player in her hand and not drop them. We're releasing this patch to add some extra internal logging for hosts. If you happen to stumble across this issue, please get in touch with us so that we can grab your logs.

No other changes in this patch.

We'll be releasing 1.3.0 to a public beta branch in the near future which will add some new features for you all to try out. Thanks for all the support!

v1.2.6

Thanks for all the support over the weekend. It's been great seeing everyone play the new map. We're releasing another patch that will require both hosts and clients to update to this latest version.

 • Collisions are now disabled with inmates to prevent them getting stuck on stairs
 • Fix for Anna sometimes not reaching the altar after 10 goats burned
 • Burning rats no longer unlocks goat burn achievements
 • Fix for hay vanishing on stairs causing goats to get stuck\
 • Rotten food no longer hidden when placed on altar platform or stairs
 • Cultist now completely hidden if not yet unlocked (Single player bug)

v1.2.5
Changes
• Fixes bug which allowed Molly to be picked on The Asylum
 • Inmates will let go of players if they are unable to kill them for 10 seconds

We're aware of an edge case issue where Molly may grab a player but fail to drop them which causes a bugged game state. We're working hard to fix this and will release a patch as soon as we can.
